  1. Given that it's a freebie....and I think somewhat rare, probably a very good idea to pick up another or two.... Not many retailers shelled out $$ for promo material for Totally Awesome Hulk Books. I was very fortunate to acquire a good handful before this storyline blew up.....
  2. How could I not dig a little deeper for one of the nicest guys on these boards!
  3. I'm shocked at the elevated price too....not sure if it can stay there. Question for everyone; I haven't seen any of the promotional mini-posters of WMD for sale---there doesn't appear to be any on eBay at the moment either.....has anyone seen any of these?
  4. Now THAT.....looks sharp! Well done.....very well done sir! Wish I was in the area for your opening. My sincere wishes for a "grand" breakout!
  5. If he simply went with Genesis.....how would anyone know that it is a comic and gaming store??? You have to help yourself....make it easy for potential customers to locate and find you....both physically and on the Internet.
  6. I completely agree with you that this is a hit....and I've seen the prices fall on TAH 21 in just the past couple of days, while #22 is still going strong. I'm well covered on most of the issues, but my only regret is not picking up those two NM+ copies of TAH #19 that you had in your sales thread. Foolish error on my part.....
  7. That one was such a tough call....Tom King's "Vision" was a resounding success, but to pre-order a ton of these based on that? Tough call. I don't think many people pre-ordered a lot of these.....or else the price wouldn't be so high right out of the gate. Good for you for grabbing a couple though...
  8. OK....so after a pre-dinner martini, some vino during and now a post refreshment, let's put my "hey, this might be a good idea" to the test. So, I already mentioned the barber pole idea.... If you're game for that, why not make that flooring area black and white tile (cheaply of course), but that would fit with that barber pole. Keeping with that theme, the east coast is such great ground for antiques and old strange things. Why not get an old barber chair?? You could take your pick of a Darth Vader mannequin in the chair....getting a shave! Orrrrrr....try and get a Khan Noonien Singh mannequin for the chair.....nice tie-in with "Genesis".....maybe get both and swap them out. Just some thoughts for people to run over after a liberal application of alcohol.....
  9. "That Opie......he broke my barber pole". HA! Sorry everyone...obscure reference. Here's a hint;. Eugene Levy said it.....
  10. Some good ideas being thrown out here! For the floor, I agree with "thehumantorch".....if you can't match the floor, make it stand out. Make it look like you made a conscious decision to have it completely different. When people try to "match" things and/or hide elements, they usually end up looking far worse. Make a statement. This leads to my next point---the pole. Cover it with plaster and make it into an old school barber pole---sounds like that could fit your overall theme of trendy-vintage! Many different ways to do it...cover it with sheet metal then carbon fibre.....plaster....even drywall.... I'm sure someone here can figure out a cost effective way that would look grand....
  11. I found 3 copies of NA 10 in 2 days in $1 bins.....then nada! Two really sharp copies NM-/NM and a VF. Can't complain with that since I sold the first 2 for $15 each.... You think the winner is Hulk 22? I kind of wonder if the heat will stay on #21 and keep it there.... Time will tell..... I was very surprised at Miracle Man #1 this week from Tom King (DC).....wow....nice start to a series.
  12. Looks like I got lucky on this one! I better get off my butt and sell a few. I think book was a complete surprise and was really under-ordered---was anyone ordering a lot of Supergirl?? I keep hearing stories that people showed up to their LCS and there were none on the wall at opening time---that could bode well for the future of this book too.....
  13. Very thoughtful to post these comparisons and obviously very helpful---thank you!
  14. I just love these "market recaps"....very informative and timely! I had a feeling about the WMD series as the print runs for TAH are so small. I think most people were watching Edge of Venomverse and the Batman 24 as well as the upcoming Metal series instead of a story of a Hulk with claws! Thank you for the write-up!
  15. I think this book will be selling for $10 the same day on eBay and also think there will be pretty consistent demands through cons and other venues. I bet fairly large on this book myself---great short and long term pick imo....
  16. I can see your point about hit or miss and that's what kept me away from jumping in right away. For some reason, her WW covers just "speak" to me....
  17. I really don't know....I love Dodson's work. I picked up a bunch of those Astonishing X-Men #1 1:10 that were just released as I thought the cover art was just great.
  18. I hope these have the same path....I personally have a pretty good feeling about the future value of these books. I continue to search them out on a regular basis!
  19. Hard to argue with this point and it is one of the reasons why I was so late to the Frison camp. I was intrigued with #20, very interested with #23 and amazed with #25. A lot of the other covers don't hold the same interest for me. I have found however, that the more I look at certain books, the more they grow on me. Books such as #7 and even #15 continue to grow on me....I wonder if other covers will also convert over into this category for me.
  20. Couldn't agree more....they flew under the radar for me for a little while. I do think more people are catching on though....
  21. I've relished your updates and all of the subsequent replies by people on the Board here---I think you're going to be a very successful enterprise as it seems you've thought everything through and have back up plans for every scenario. You've also sought advice from some real seasoned people here and elsewhere that probably cut days and dollars off your budget. If I am ever in your neck of the woods, I'll be sure to stop in and bring cash! I think everyone here is rooting for you----it is always nice to see a brick and mortar shop in this digital age!
  22. Great advice for any new or "newish" collector. Glad someone posted it.
  23. Tweeting that you've picked up a new collection is a very smart idea!
