I haven't submitted a large batch of books in some time. I have heard grading was more strict so I wanted to see for myself and compare it to my old grading habits. So I sent in a batch of random books (that were not pressed) I had laying around. Comics I never got around to submit to CGC. I selected the FAST track option and mailed them in last month. These are books I had previously graded many years ago and had post it notes on the outside mylar bags. I like to think back in the day (10-15 years ago) when I submitted books to CGC I was pretty darn accurate. Books typically came back what I thought they would grade or better. Very rarely would they come back less. So the books I submitted last month are from my grading standards from that time period. * All of the submissions were graded White pages, 1 was Off-white and 1 was offwhite to white. Here are the results: The first grade is what I thought it would grade vs the grade it actually recevied this month. Better than I graded 1. Swing with Scooter 9 9.2 10-11/67 -> 9.4 (Sole Top Census) 2. Tales Calculated to Drive You Bats 1 11/61 7.0 -> 8.0 (2nd Highest census) 3. Tales Calculated to Drive You Bats 3 3/62 3 5.0 -> 6.5 (2nd Highest census) 4. Secrets of Haunted House 27 8/80 9.6 -> 9.8 Don Rosa copy (Tied Top Census) 5. Dead of Night 2 2/74 9.4 -> 9.6 (Tied Top Census) 6. Rawhide Kid 94 12/71 9.4 -> 9.6 Oakland copy (2nd Highest census, 1 copy higher) 7. Rawhide Kid 101 7/72 9.6 -> 9.8 Oakland copy (Tie Top Census) What I expected 1. House of Secrets 114 12/73 9.2 -> 9.2 2. Rawhide Kid 100 6/72 9.4 -> 9.4 Oakland copy (Tied Top Census) 3. Wonder Woman 211 4-5/74 9.6 –> 9.6 4. Conan the Barbarian 45 12/74 9.6 -> 9.6 5. House of Mystery 270 7/79 9.6 -> 9.6 MASS copy 6. Defenders 23 5/75 9.6 -> 9.6 Off by .2 of grade 1. Swing with Scooter 6 9.2 -> 9.0 (2nd Highest in census) 2. Unexpected 189 1-2/79 9.6 -> 9.4 3. Wonder Woman 210 2-3/74 9.6 -> 9.4 4. Worlds Unknown 6 4/74 9.4 -> 9.2 5. Dead of Night 8 2/75 9.2 -> 9.0 6. Dead of Night 10 6/75 9.6 -> 9.4 7. House of Secrets 112 10/73 9.2 –> 9.0 8. Secrets of Haunted House 33 2/81 9.6 -> 9.4 Don Rosa copy 9. Rawhide Kid 98 4/72 9.6 -> 9.4 Oakland copy (2nd Highest census) 10. Gunhawks 3 2/73 9.6 -> 9.4 11. Conan the Barbarian 77 8/77 9.8 -> 9.6 Not sure how I missed these. 1. Unexpected 120 8-9/70 9.6 -> 7.5 (tear on back cover from notes, I am fairly sure it did not have one when I sent it) 2. Rawhide Kid 97 3/72 9.4 -> 7.0 (Oakland copy, light creasing to cover, light spine stress lines to cover, readers crease full left of front cover) Guess I and dealer missed this one.

Results from CCS Pressing services
Buck Biggins replied to Buck Biggins's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
In a few short years we lost soo many greats in our industry. Sad. -
I have a handful of books that I thought should have graded higher or were damaged in shipment to CGC. So after years of wondering what a press might do (some as old as 8 years), I sent them to CCS this past summer. I could have saved money by purchasing higher-graded copies but these were signature series books that I plan to keep and the creators have passed away. The results are below. Out of the 7 books, 6 went up in grade and 2 received better page quality. Overall, I'm happy with the slight bump in grades. Mystery in Space 75 Signed by Murphy Anderson -> no change in grade or PQ Mystery in Space 78 Signed by Murphy Anderson -> from an 8.0 to 8.5, no change in PQ JLA 15 Signed by Murphy Anderson -> from 7.0 off-white to 7.5 off-white to white Tales of Suspense 80 Signed by Stan Lee -> from 8.5 white to 9.2 white Wonder Woman 205 Signed by Nick Cardy -> 9.0 off-white to white to 9.2 white Detective Comics 292 Signed by Sheldon Moldoff -> 7.0 off-white to white to 8.0 off-white to white Our Army at War 203 Signed by Joe Kubert and Russ Heath -> 9.0 white to 9.2 white Books below. Our Army at War 203 Signed by Joe Kubert and Russ Heath -> 9.0 white to 9.2 white Detective Comics 292 Signed by Sheldon Moldoff -> 7.0 off-white to white to 8.0 off-white to white Wonder Woman 205 Signed by Nick Cardy -> 9.0 off-white to white to 9.2 white Tales of Suspense 80 Signed by Stan Lee -> from 8.5 white to 9.2 white JLA 15 Signed by Murphy Anderson -> from 7.0 off-white to 7.5 off-white to white Mystery in Space 78 Signed by Murphy Anderson -> from an 8.0 to 8.5, no change in PQ Mystery in Space 75 Signed by Murphy Anderson -> no change in grade or PQ

Almost 10 years ago I got this done. Wish I could have found a Beware copy as well to get signed. Looked like crazy and called every dealer. Could not locate a single copy.

Finally sent these in after a decade sitting in a box. Got the grades and images today. Happy with the results.

This has always been one of my favorite Archie covers. This copy came from a collection that my LCS scored. The collection had an almost complete run from 1 to 25.

Cool. I just picked up Covers A-C that were just sitting at my LCS where no one ever looks. Read it. It was interesting. The colors alone are amazing. Going to keep a copy just because and sell the others. They seem to be doing well. (thumbs u The kids and I love Adventure Time, Regular Show and the Amazing World of Gumble. I think the LCS thought I was crazy when I told them I wanted to pre-order the Adventure Time comic. I'm currently sitting on 9 copies. -

I have 2 of the Expo #1 covers SSd by Bellman, they were done the year of the show... Only 55 of the Delbo program covers exist. It was a perk for VIP ticket holders. I think only 3 or 4 went to CGC. The cover art Jose provided appeared to be a lost Wonder Woman cover from 1978. Amazing that he penciled and inked the thing last spring. For those in the Tri-State area the background is King's Island amusement park and they are on the old Bat Rollercoaster that was torn down. they left off the best part of that cover We found it unrealistic that the Germans would make it to Cincinnati during WW2 via a plane. However, a submarine up the Mississippi and through the Ohio River seamed plausible.
