  1. This sweet thing just completed (at last!) a long journey from Texas to Stockholm. I had been looking for a 7.5 copy for a while, and an awesome boardie actually found this for me in HAs sold items, I made an offer to the owner aaaaaaand here it is. Thanks A LOT Dave aka DST This completes my 1-3 in CGC 7.5 and I am now officially in the market for a #4 hopefully in 7.5 to make it a set and keep working upwards for the rest of my run.
  2. I was pretty confident that only the company that certified Ditko´s signature on a cover, would certify an AF15 "back cover only". But $70 is clearly not a big loss.
  3. I am personally going for 1-50 graded and then raw up to 400 with some exceptions similar to yours and some key issues in the 100-200 run. I don't aim for super high grades for the raw silver - bronze age issues (I consider a keeper every nice 8.0 or better copy) and I definitely don't have the space for so many graded copies, so I think this suits me for now.
  4. Not a "great" price for those like me who need a nice copy for their run .
  5. Great story Alex, thanks for sharing. (And the book is awesome, as well, congrats!)
  6. Welcome to the boards and feel free to share your books anytime!
  7. Thanks to everyone for their input and thoughts. The amassed knowledge in these boards is incredible and really valuable for all dumb newbies like myself. You guys rock
  8. I recently watched an old interview of Stan Lee, where he explained that he chose to change the name of the company to Marvel Comics in the "early 60s" to better represent the new era of the company with the super heroes: FF, Hulk et al. And I guess that the MC box on the cover reflects that. But was the actual name "Marvel Comics" known back then and up to 1963, when this: was replaced by the brand name under the character box? This is really my question I guess.
  9. Getting that cover is nevertheless a big upgrade to a coverless copy. But if it does come back with a blue label, then it would be huge. It would be interesting to follow up this, please do keep us updated.
  10. I am sure somebody can help me with this. I was pretty sure that the first book published by "Marvel Comics" was Amazing Adventures #3, in August 1961. But checking this a bit further, I realised that between August 1961 (Amazing Adventures #3) and March 1963 books had the MC box on the cover (which indeed was the initials of Marvel Comics), but the indicia publisher on the 1st page differed. I am pretty sure that the name Marvel Comics was not mentioned anywhere in the books during that period. For example, the indicia page of AF15 stated Atlas as the publisher. So, this got me wondering: was Marvel really known as Marvel until 1963?
  11. Looking at these two iconic issues next to each other is always pure joy. Awesome copies. Are you going for the run?
  12. This is huge, congrats and be proud! Very very nice copy!
  13. I purchased a group of raw ASMs from Jeff and the whole transaction was flawless. Perfectly packaged and quickly shipped, more than accurately graded and fairly priced. What more could I ask? Thank you!
  14. Welcome to the boards and to the coolest thread across them Good luck with your goal. Issues 200-400 are nicer than most collectors probably think. Great art for the most part, some really cool covers and some great stories. I personally go for only vol.1, and currently only up to #400 but once this is complete I am pretty sure I will feel the urge to complete it up to 441 for sure. Feel free to share your process on the way. A photo of new or old additions is always enjoyed and appreciated here. Once again, welcome!
  15. Agree 100%. I really don't get the point of looking at a photocopy of the cover inside a slab. I guess its a 3rd party opinion that the rest of the book is there, complete and unrestored. But still.
  16. This one just arrived today! And made the story arc complete
  17. I dont like signatures on covers (especially on books like this) either, but at least Stan Lee's signature makes sense. Tom Holland on the other hand?
  18. Stupid question, but how can someone in Europe get the guide? eBay?
  19. This is a perfect match to your AF15, and it looks really nice as well. I actually enjoy seeing some of these now really valuable books with a bit of doodling and well-loved. I can't imagine finding a so called rare variant from 2018 in 30 years from now, with Spidey´s eyes blacked out or a tongue drawn out of his mouth or something. All will be 9.6-9.8 examples. Boring.
