Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!
SECollector replied to Point Five's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
My 8.5 exhibits symptoms of inferiority complex after seeing your high graded books, but here it is - in all its glorious lack of self-esteem. -
Thanks Alex. Yes it's a nice one. I won't really mind if it doesn't sell, to be quite honest.
-
Nope, but I could use the funds towards a couple of early Spideys for my run, if I will get that complete anytime in this lifetime . If there is any interest that is. Otherwise I will be happy to keep it with the rest of my non-ASM collection.

This confirms it 100% - not that it was really questionable. That 4.5 looked exactly how a CGC 7.5 usually looks, but yes I guess you never know what's inside. I wonder if there is any way to resolve this. If I was the submitter of these books I would definitely ask for some explanations. I mean he should be able to notice the error by himself, but that's what their quality control department should also do, right? In this case it was an error that caused him a loss of at least $1K, even though he has probably not realised it yet.

I got this a few days ago, just in time for posting on the 27th. I am starting to like those tidy nice arrival stamps, while it was a no-no for me until a few months ago. -

I am so sorry for your loss. Nothing can fullfil that gap, this is something that everyone who has lost a beloved one knows really well. But you are so lucky to have the memories to look back and cherish as well as a wonderful hobby to both keep you busy and remind you of the moments you shared with your father. Nice to have you here, it will be great to follow your quest to fill those holes in your run. Keep them posted! -

Maybe try sneaking into his house when he is away? A large part of his collection (or maybe all of it?) was auctioned sometimes in 2001 I think through Heritage. Since then they are out there and come up in various auctions from time to time. -

Thank you! I am really happy with it - as you all probably already know its a tough task to find a decent looking copy even in higher grades. That otherwise striking cover just magnifies every single tiny flaw. -

No #21 for me on the 21st, but I received this #28 today. It is notoriously tough to get a decent scan of this book, but try to imagine it without the blueish waves and you will get the picture -

Thanks! I use a CanoScan 9000F Mark II. It's not legal sized, which -for my slabs- means that I have to stitch together two scans, that of the actual book and that of the label, which I do in photoshop. It's a process, but I am satisfied with its performance and I don't really buy that many slabs, so not really a big deal. -

Happy birthday man! December kids are the coolest. And awesome choice of books. -
#13 and #6 are mixed up. I noticed that the same second I put everything back in place and my whole existence has since then been feeling wrong. Thanks for your kind reminder. I still have among else 5, 15 and 20 from the bigger ones, but yes - at this point it is starting to feel do-able. Thanks a lot!

I really really hope this is not the case because I have another one incoming. But yes, from the scan this one looks like a really nice copy, which is probably why it went high.
