It's called, Someone wanted to set a dumb price on the GPA so they sold it to themselves for a high cost.
Or it's money laundering.
Edit: It was relisted.

Are the larger inner well distinguishable from the old ones when looking at a slab?

Any chance you can get an approximate slab number or date when they stopped?

Have a question for anyone who has contacted CGC Customer Support about this issue. I know their stance is to either claim that the bent inner wells don't cause damage, or that the damage you're complaining about is acceptable for that grade. But, how do they respond when you show spine ticks on your book that are clearly not present in the grading scans? Not sure I've seen anyone touch on that point yet, and that seems a lot harder to deny.
I think at best they'll say send them in and you might get a press and regrade out of them. Getting compensation out of them is pretty much impossible since we all know they won't admit fault.

It is interesting the banana bends are pretty much all one direction. You'd think you'd see both.

Is it possible it moved to there in shipping? Can you lightly smash the slab into a surface to see if it shifts?

Watched the first two last night. I liked the first episode, but you'd think Disney would have learned after the Acolyte song fiasco to not do it again. I'll keep watching because I like Katherine Hahn, but my expectations are low finishing the second one.
Also, the teen is probably

Ashley Witter I think.

Interesting. You can definitely see where the press smoothed those tick areas before the press.

While everything you say is perfectly logical, the one thing that I don't get is, how can they not know the cause of the problem. I mean they've been slabbing books for 20 years and didn't have this issue then all of a sudden a few months ago, BAM. Now, bent wells. Also, it seems isolated to modern subs. In theory all CGC needs to do is a comparison between last year's processes and this year or vintage versus modern and they should be able to figure it out pretty quickly. I just don't get why they wouldn't be able to figure it out
It's very likely they know what the problem is, they may just not know how to fix it. The swap to a full seal to fix the Swapgate drama is the probable cause. The dates line up too well to be a fluke. But they can't revert to the old seal because then they're back to square one.

That explains why I’ve gotten my GA back, but not my moderns.
CGC may not be changing their public position, but the fact they don’t just slab my moderns means, to me at least, that they are acknowledging the problem (at least internally). Otherwise, they’d go ahead and encapsulate my books just to shut me upI think CGC is well aware of this problem. People want to speculate what's going on, but I think the simplest answer is probably the most likely one. And that is that CGC knows there's a problem, but they don't know how to fix it. They can't stop production because it costs them money, they can't announce it because that costs them money (and liabilities), and you can't just redesign the slab because that takes time and money. So what do you do? Stay quiet, pretend like everything is normal, and try any and all bandaid fixes in secret. (Though it also wouldn't surprise me if we see some sort of coincidental slab "improvement" announcement before Newport Beach opens shop.)

It's not the greatest, but I give him credit for trying to do something more original than a generic pose.

It's possible CGC's insurance company may go after them to recoup costs though.

These were handed out at the Marvel Panel at D23 last week and exclusive to that panel. The panelists promised both comics, but the staff handing them out didn't know this and were only handing one come per person. It was chaos with a lot of people angry. They eventually decided to give the second comic out at Guest Services which most people didn't know. I saw a lot of these and many were full of hand dings and dents from the staff trying to hand them out. I have two sets available.
Set A:
They definitely need a press, and the pictures make the finger dents worse than they look in person. There's spine roll too based on how they were sitting in the box. I think both have a good shot at 9.8s with a little TLC. See Spoilers for detailed shots. $200Edit: Sale Pending

Either CGC is ignoring the problem and is taking no steps to fix it OR they know it's a problem and are gaslighting their customers to avoid liability. Neither option is good.
Imagine the financial cost if CGC admitted it damaged a huge portion of the books it has graded for 8 months. There's no way they'll admit anything. I assume they're quietly trying to solve this before someone tries to file a class action lawsuit.

Just checked my December 8th 2023 grade date submission. Only have 4 of the original 8 left, but 3 9.8$ are showing a crease. (The 4th is a 7.5 so a little harder to tell.) Two of those creases are right where the inner well is bowing upwards in the slab. Interestingly I don't have althe smile bend, it's only on side for all three. All are Marvel from 2014/2015. First four digits of the certs are 4362.
I also unrelated cracked another from this submission and send it to me repressed because I noticed bend creases. (Before this thread.) That case was sealed tight.
I'm gonna be pulling my next submission currently at my presser. CGC is absolutely damaging comics
Is anyone else getting books back with warped inner wells?

Anyone know if CGC has a mandatory arbitration clause buried in their agreements?
