  1. Thanks but I don't plan to offer up this one (I almost hate to type that for fear of jinxing myself and something calamitous happening that makes me need to sell any of my black hole books...Is that a thing? does everybody get like that??)
  2. I hope I didn't worry you Ed! Feel free to post yours for fun. Here's my keeper copy (Note to bidders -- this is NOT the auction item!)
  3. Time for an update, with a couple days or so to go until Saturday night 11 pm Eastern… @Pitbossis our ninth bidder at $75, but @Funnybooks came back and slammed a Benjamin on deck. Soon thereafter, @mikej61played Joe Cool (see bid above) and bid $125, our current high bid. Lotsa time and room for wild, woolly action. Thanks to everyone bringing the mayhem (and bids) so far!
  4. @speedcake is off track from his X-Men run again and I can’t get blamed this time!
  5. And a seventh contender in the ring! Georgie123 takes us to $55; thank you!
  6. And just like that my update is obsolete! Thank you Mikej61, who just took us to $45!
  7. OK, I'm back with the update...we got us a barroom brawl with six bidders flinging empty beer mugs and whiskey bottles and swinging from chandeliers, tossing chairs and shootin' six-guns! Welcome to the mayhem Mikej61, Point Five and, our current high biddr at $36, Miamiknight3434! Thank you all; carry on carousing and having fun! We have a few days to go so this clubhouse is open!
  8. We've got three bidders, and a new high of $10! Thank you s-man! (And Funny and Iggy)
  9. Funnybooks wants himself an iconic golden age funny book! We have an opening bid of $1! As the man said, peanuts for peanuts #1!
  10. Little tidbit…Ferdinand is also in this book, with a bondage panel and stabbing scene!
  11. I thought this one would be a fun opportunity for someone to own (most of) a tough and sought-after book, or for someone to complete their incomplete copy. On the auction block is a coverless, incomplete copy of Peanuts #1 (United Features Syndicate, 1953) the first book to feature Peanuts. What’s missing is the cover and the first two wraps (confirmed against my personal copy), and the centerfold is detached. Rules (Please, please read) Opening bid is $1; bids increase in $1 increments. BIN is $800 (I have purposely set a high BIN so that we can have a fun auction. For reference, a cgc 1.0 sold in 2018 on Heritage for $780, and a raw copy with bug chew, chips and splits sold in July on eBay for $832.) Lowest price available currently on eBay is a cgc .5 asking $1895 with 12 watchers. I will post that auction is open once all pix are up. Auction closes at 11 pm EST this coming Saturday night, Sept. 18. (A 10:59 pm bid can win, an 11 pm bid is late.) Payment is Check or Money Order (yeah, yeah I know I'm a dinosaur, troglodyte, luddite, mennonite, hermaphrodite etc. - I just don't have or want e-payments.) Shipping: USPS Priority shipping is $8. Don't be listy including the little one in my head. Returns: Sure, just notify me within three days of receipt and get it back to me in the same shape on your dime. (Kudos thread linked under my avatar.)
  12. They were pretty disappointing, with very dark green backgrounds, like a wet seaweed color. The skeleton looked cool but Frankenstein didn’t pop very much.
  13. I had these 2. The plastic was flimsy and the color came off easily if it creased. Finding originals in good shape may not be easy, I imagine.
  14. Most of us are or have been eBay browsers, I’m sure. There are likely more total eyeballs there, but the board is a very serious, dedicated, knowledgeable community of collectors (many well-known dealers are participants too, as much or more so as active members in the comments sections and as buyers than they are as sellers). It’s a great place to buy and sell among the like-minded, resulting in minimal hassle. If you grade/describe fairly and accurately and pack well you’re likely to see very few returns. It’s also a self-policing community through its Probation list and Hall of Shame. That’s my take; a great place for collector to collector transactions.
