  1. It always bothers me how people with no clue about a collectible try and think they know what they're doing, or make any attempt at it.

I have two examples. I'm an avid vintage video game collector and have vast knowledge, especially about the Atari 2600. I have a few thousand duplicate games. I went to this flea market last spring. Guy has a Pitfall game. At the time I did not have my loose games here since I moved, but had a box and manual that needed a cartridge for me to sell complete. I asked him how much. He said $5, which of course was way overpriced for a flea market untested game. Since I had tons of loose games and had planned on bringing them down eventually, I asked him how much he would pay. He said 25 cents. I said, you pay 25 cents and sell it for $5? He then began cursing at me. I figured if he would pay a buck a piece, I'd sell him a few hundred. I asked him why he was cursing at me and he just kept going on. Told me I didn't know what I was talking about. After bickering for a couple of minutes, I decided he wasn't worth my time and I walked away. Haven't seen him since.

Second example was another flea market a few years ago outside Giants stadium called the Meadowlands Flea Market. Anyone from the area should be familiar with it. Guy was selling comic books. I looked through and saw a Marvel Tales in the #40s priced as if it was Amazing Spiderman. I explained to the guy he misidentified the comic and was charging too much. Again, another belligerent seller telling me I didn't know anything about comics. I had been collecting since 1984, so had a decent amount of knowledge, plus owned a store, was manager of another store, and spent a good deal selling on Ebay. Nevertheless, again not wanting to get into a fight, my wife sort of dragged me away.

So my thing is, stick with what you know. I understand people find things in the wild, but either throw it all up in one lot and hope for the best, or bring it to someone with knowledge who can sell it for you.

C'mon guys . . . there are tons of Copper books heating up!  Whoever thought Flash 1 (1987) would be a $100+ book???

I have a feeling lots of these mid-1980s will heat up. I'm going through Marvel Team-Up and comparing my personal collection to an extra good run to "upgrade" if necessary. It seems books that have been in my collection, some bought straight off shelves are 8.0-9.0. I'm so surprised, though as a teenager, I don't think I paid too much attention to perfection back then.

I don't think Byrne Superman will do much, but Wonder Woman #1 seems to be climbing steadily. Just like the Flash mentioned, here's one that sold over $100 too.

New Mutants 25 & 26 have jumped to over $40 for the pair NM raw due to the solid debut of the Legion show on FX.

I agree that these 2 books are going to climb, at least for a few months. I remember in the mid-1990s when #25 especially was hot due to the whole Prof X dying. I stocked up on about 20 copies at the time.

  5. I just picked up two comic books featuring the Fantastic Four. Through Google translate, they are Indonesian. The first I identified as #108 as it features the same cover in reverse. This one however I have no idea. The title translates something like FF against the Blue Devil or something like that. The comic on the last page is dated October 1978, so it has to be a story that's earlier. I'm showing the cover and 1st story page. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Also, the name Dr. Coma seems to appear in the story too.

  6. It would be nice if your photos were still there, and only posted one month ago.

Anyway, I don't have it handy, but I discovered a few years ago I have an Uncle Scrooge Whitman from the late 1970s, (can't remember the exact issue) that has the pages folded in reverse as some on here have. This means the centerfold is on page 1 and page 1/24 is at the centerfold. This isn't actually as uncommon as people think. Still cool to have. My wife wanted me to keep it as she collects Disney titles.
