Back in my collection after a two-month visit to CGC for the Miller sig. I’m also curious about value estimates. A similar newsie recently sold on eBay auction for $3350 in OWW minus the Wein sig.

Hello, I'm sending a slabbed SS book for a private signing. The private signing card instructions say to include the card with a window bag. Since my book is currently slabbed where should I include the card? Tape it to the slab? Should I also include a window bag? Thanks!
-
I recently purchased a slab I suspected to be incorrectly labeled with volume/issue, and after further research it is. I would like to get it relabeled with the correct information, but am unsure about the process since it was not my submission. I plan to resubmit myself or through a LCS. Would this be considered a CGC error they will correct for free? Would a correction only be free for the person who submitted the book originally? Or is it a different service like a reholder and its associated fee? Thanks for any input!

Have a blessed and safe Memorial Day weekend!!
MadripoorNights replied to Aweandlorder's topic in Comics General
Cool cover, but I was under the mistaken assumption that the men in the famous Mt. Suribachi photo all survived the war, so would be better celebrated on Veterans Day. Upon further research, three were KIA shortly afterwards, so thanks for spurring me to learn some additional information. "There are six Flag Raisers on the famous Iwo Jima photo. Four in the front line and two in back. The front four are (left to right) Ira Hayes, Franklin Sousley, Harold Schultz and Harlon Block. The back two are Michael Strank (behind Sousley) and Rene Gagnon (behind Schultz). Strank, Block and Sousley would die shortly afterwards. Bradley, Hayes and Gagnon became national heroes within weeks." Ira Hayes, who was somewhat famous after returning to the U.S. and even the topic of a Johnny Cash song, later lamented, “How could I feel like a hero when only five men in my platoon of 45 survived, when only 27 men in my company of 250 managed to escape death or injury?” Amazing sacrifices to appreciate for all the soldiers who never got the chance to take off their uniforms. Thanks for your service to vets and active military. -
Things may have changed, but not THAT much...

Anyone who cares about their post count on this or any other internet message board should seriously reconsider their priorities in life. -
I have a 9.8 SS of it with Stan, Claremont, and Wein. I wish it also had a Trimpe sig. For me it’s more about an individual’s appeal or influence on the character than just their work on a specific book. For example, Stan was the face of Marvel and a pop culture icon. Without his work who knows if Marvel would have even existed long enough for Wolverine to be created? He may not be the father of many popular characters, but he’s certainly the grandfather. I think it’s cool to have his sig on a book that means something to me. That’s probably why his sig is so popular, because people want that progenitor connection related to a piece they care about. It may be why people get actor sigs on comics they had nothing to do with. For them the person embodies the character and gives the book a deeper meaning. It’s not my kind of thing, but I understand the appeal.

Do you ever forget to put a bid in an auction?
MadripoorNights replied to romanheart's topic in Comics General
I just did it Sunday. A slabbed 9.8 I would have bid up to around $100 for. It sold for $11 -
Comics in your collection, that hurts to look at
MadripoorNights replied to nepatkm's topic in Comics General
I have an X-Men 12 that I sheared the cover off of while placing it into a razor-sharp mylar. Still looks good in the bag, as long as I don't look too closely. -
Alright, I'll bite. Who is Stu?

Alright, I'll bite. Who is Stu?
MadripoorNights replied to MadripoorNights's topic in Comics General
Lots of replies, very little information. I'm starting to think that "Stu" doesn't actually exist, and is more like a mythical chupacabra who is blamed when unexplained, bad things happen.
