  1. its just a quick start, I made it in <30 mins. Post or PM whatever additional changes, or revisions are needed it. I will continue to improve it.
  2. So back in the day I made my Forum account separately(first i think), and then linked it to my CGC account once I made a registry account(later on). This is my CGC account which has no posts or PMs. If i try and log in as my Board account, it says invalid. From Architect's announcement, for people like me, what has occurred is that CGC CREATED a new CGC account FOR my board account(and anyone else split like me), and sent an e-mail to my registered e-mail address for the board account saying, "click here to activate" or whatever. Since my e-mail address was invalid, what you have to do is MAKE the e-mail account valid, then click reset password and get a new "password link" emailed to you. In some people's case, they CANNOT get their old email back, so CGC has set up a manual way to merge your two accounts back into one(by giving them permission to do so). In my case, I can make the e-mail account exist again, and "reset" the password to gain access. But to do that I need to REMAKE my old e-mail server first, then create the account, then "reset" the password. I dont feel like doing all that right now , so I am going to just stick with this until i get around to it.
  3. That's to get them to merge right? I dont really trust to be honest. I was planning to just reset my password on the "new" account, and keep them both (like Dealers have to)
  4. javascript does it, and I am using javascript to "inject" the css. In theory, one could do a lot of additional things by adding JS stuff to the mix, but remember this is a browser add-on, so it only affects YOU when you use it. Not anyone else.
  5. Well, i have to do the password thing, but the email account I need to do it on is MY OWN SERVER, which hasnt had email since 2012. So i need to turn the email server back on, and reset my password, i'll get around to it sometime soon Also, the linked Add-Ons are to SourceForge (open source) for IE, and to FIREFOX and CHROME's actual official add-on "stores". So the links are as above board as possible. My .js files however... you are taking my word for it... (but anyone who knows JavaScript can view them and reassure you)
  6. CSS is visual stuff only, it can neither take away nor add functionality. Think of it like pulling all the pictures and colors out of a book, and then putting them back in a new order...
  7. Yah, its just basic as I only had a little bit of time to throw something together. If you post what other changes need to be made (or unmade) I can put out a v1.1 shortly.
  8. No, it won't affect functionality at all. The scripts I made execute in a "onload" function, which means the forum has finished loading completely before any visual changes are made. All they do is edit the CSS of the page (what gives webpages there VISUAL aspects). Obviously if CGC makes a classic skin available in the forum itself that is better/faster/cleaner, but that skin, again, would just be different CSS, the same as what the --script is doing.
  9. The easiest and fastest way to make the NEW Forums look like the OLD Forums is to run a Browser Add-on, that modifies the appearance of the New Forum, and sets it to look like the Old Forum. Because its done as a Browser plug-in, it happens on YOUR computer, in YOUR browser, and doesnt affect anyone else in any way. It's basically a Custom Filter being applied on your browser, to the NEW Forum, AFTER its loaded... At some future point in time I will update to a version 1.1 of these scripts to make things far more polished. I just wanted to put out quick and dirty versions for anyone who just can't handle the new look, and needs something closer to what we had before. This is a work in progress, but for those who feel like trying enjoy. ========================== INSTRUCTIONS ========================== 1.) Based on your browser, install the respective Plug-in for customizing webpages. 2.) Download from this post, the corresponding v1.0 - NEW_FORUM_OLD.txt file for your browser, renaming it from .txt to .js when you download it. (.js is a javascript file) 3.) Add the -script to your installed plug-in and VOILA, the New Forum has a feel/flavour of the old. This is a work in progress, and future updates to this thread will include scripts that customize the appearance further, cleaner, and closer to the old. ============================ Browser Specifics ============================ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Internet Explorer (I think 8.0x+, but at least 9.0x+) -------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.) Download your plugin: "trixIE" https://svwh.dl.sourceforge.net/project/trixiewpf45/Trixie-0.1.3.0.zip 2.) IE Instructions: -Once trixIE is downloaded, extract the .zip file to the location where you want it to be installed. Run the extracted Trixie executable which registers the add-on in IE. -There will be a --script folder where you installed it (the same place where you ran the executable), delete the "GoogleDeLink.user.js" file already installed in that folder (as its not needed) -Download the text file I am attaching to this post, and rename the file from its current "new_forum_old_IE.txt" to "new_forum_old.js" and place it in the --script folder. -Close all IE windows, relaunch and browse to the forum, TA-DA! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Firefox ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.) Install your Firefox Add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/ 2.) "Name": New Forum Cleaner "Namespace": cgc "Includes": https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/* - Click ok, in the Window that pops up, highlight and erase all text so that it is completely empty. - Open the attached file "new_forum_old_Firefox.txt" and copy and paste its contents into the open and empty Window, then click Save - Make sure by clicking on greasemonkey's icon that there is a checkmark beside Enabled, and beside your new --script "New Forum Cleaner" -If both are checked, refresh the forums and TA-DA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chrome ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.) Install your Chrome Add-on https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo?hl=en (from this link, click "Add To Chrome" on the open page) 2.) Chrome Instructions - Once the Tampermonkey add-on is installed from it's icon, choose Dashboard - There is an icon on the Dashboard (to the left of installed userscripts) that looks like a piece of paper with a green plus on it, click it. - In the window that opens, highlight and delete all text. - Open the attached file "new_forum_old_Chrome.txt" and copy and paste its contents into the open and empty Window, then click Save (the icon that looks like a floppy disk) - Click on "installed userscripts" (tampermonkey icon-> Dashboard to get back if its not available still), and make sure the iPhone style ON/OFF slider for "New Forum Cleaner" is set to on. - Refresh the Forum and TA-DA --------------------------------------------------------- New Forum Made Old, Version 1.0 files... --------------------------------------------------------- new_forum_old_CHROME.txt new_forum_old_FIREFOX.txt new_forum_old_IE.txt
  10. it will need to be in chrome or firefox, and use a css plugin, but very doable. First i need to figure out what they did with my account having apparently been forked into two pieces, my regsitry/census account, separated from my forum account....
  11. My work on a Client side "Classic" skin people can use on their own computers begins now
  12. Friends don't let friends get shilled. This is a shill-free zone to discuss modern comics. All opinions are welcome, but this is not a cheerleading area like so many of the modern comics threads. You can discuss what's going up, what's going down, and what is just hype. My personal goals for this thread is to create an archive of the books sites like cBSi try and push on the boards, and what the real sales data shows. 13. Updated whenever new books arrive The forums don't really have a place for people to post their personal collecting, so I figured a Journal will do. I have mostly been a raw comic collector, since I don't have many slabs, I will start by posting all the slabs I have, and updating as any new ones come in. 14. not that anyone cares my CGC checlist journal, To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
