I’m in the same boat and will not use economy slow until they fix it. However, I’m not submitting many economy books at all anymore. So they might be getting an extra 15 bucks each for the 5-10 books I submitted using fast track but I’m also extremely selective about what I submit now due to the high cost. So they lose lots of extra business at the same time. Balance. I’m sure I’m not the only person doing this.

Just had a box ship today (10/26) exactly on the 1 year anniversary of them receiving it (10/26/21). Easy way to figure out your wait time. Just add one year from the received date. Ok maybe it won’t always work.

This happened years ago. Someone dropped off a 20k book submission at a show and CGC ran out of shipping supplies I think. Don’t think it happens often anymore (if at all).

Just had a 10/27/21 submission go to shipped today.

Just had two submissions ship yesterday (10/18) one from 10/20/21 and one from 10/21/21. Just had one submission from 10/26 and two submissions from 10/27 move to GEI. Still have 2 submissions from 10/26 that are at SFG though. Good to see progress but these literally took a year compared to FT which looks like barely 1-2 weeks.

Since we are on the subject of green labels. I posted a thread on this over a week ago. This book was manufactured with no staples on the cover. It should get a green label and a notation of the error, but CGC decided to go with blue label and make it a full defect I guess. This means that a book with a cool error just looks like another book that shouldn’t have been graded. Called them up over a week ago and was told they would look into it and they never did.

Had a small submission from 10/14/21 move to shipped today (9/22). It sat at GEI for about a month though. Still have about 5-6 submissions from 10/20/21 sitting at SFG though.

So this is more of a general question about green labels under the new system. I had a copy of Strange Tales 178 and found that it didn’t have staples or holes for them on the cover. I found this interesting so I submitted it to CGC thinking it would get a green label 9.0 or so, since the book generally looked nice. Today the book was just graded and CGC decided to grade it as a 4.0 blue label and note the printing error on the grader’s notes only (no green label or comments) This is really confusing because now I feel like this was an interesting error and now you can only find out about it by looking up the certification number. Did this happen because of the new grading note system? Or has this always been this way? Sorry if this is an ignorant question. Just curious because the book is a 4.0 with a detached cover which wouldn’t normally make sense. I’ve attached the grader’s notes here:

Thanks a lot guys! Very helpful! The Kubert is from Robin Rises and Burnham is from Batman Incorporated. I noticed that Burnham does ink his own stuff and so it’s his work regardless. The Kubert piece makes sense that it’s a blue line. I didn’t pay much for these because I somewhat knew they weren’t pencils, so all good.

I bought some comics from someone recently and they had these 2 art pieces included. The seller told me they’re original and that he bought the Burnham directly from the artist. I’m just not sure if they are copies that were used to ink over or if they include both the pencils and inks. Can someone help verify these? It would be really appreciated. Sorry for the newbie question. I just want to make sure and learn more about how to ID this stuff.

The QC one already shipped. Grades were a little low in some cases, but I honestly can't remember what I expected since it's been so long.

My 2 received 8/10 economy slow subs just moved into graded today (6/15). Hoping they aren’t in the grading room long, but after almost a year of waiting I think I’ll wait alittle longer. Also, full disclosure. These were shipped with a couple of express books so the box was opened immediately if that matters And for those wondering, the submission didn’t automatically come back to my submission tracker page. I had to manually enter the submission number.

Pretty sure they’ll be increasing posted economy slow times soon. Next week my 8/10 submission will be at 210 business days from the day of check in/SFG. Pretty sure they won’t magically knock out the massive August backlog in a week or two. Although they used to say the clock starts when it is actually received at their facility.

I’ll give you one picture to show you why storage lockers are bad for comics. Last year, I decided to put boxes of comics into storage temporarily and this was the result barely 3 months later. The storage company initially told me insurance would cover it and played dumb when this happened. 350 dollars a month for these guys to ruin 100+ long boxes of mostly high grade Bronze Age stuff. When you get 2 feet of water into a storage unit every box will fall no matter how well you prepare. Keep away from storage units unless you’re prepared to lose everything in it.

A month or two ago I sold a collection of Silver Age Flash comics to someone that I met in person. The guy buying the comics bought along his teenage son and the books were actually for the son. The dad apparently got his kid into comics which was cool to see. He was also really enthusiastic looking through the collection and finding the keys like the 1st Grodd. I’m 99 percent sure based on his knowledge of the Flash character, that the son wanted the comics for himself and not to flip or anything. Comics have fun stories, great artwork and have been made into movies. It’s not always difficult to get kids into them. Stamps and coins feel pretty niche in comparison. Generally speaking, younger collectors are out there but they don’t always go towards Gold, Silver and high dollar stuff because they can’t afford it. I generally see tons of younger collectors who love modern comics. Some will graduate to more expensive books as they get older. The really expensive stuff is probably a mix of people of different ages. Not everyone is a crypto millionaire.

Thanks for the help. Can I ask how you came to that conclusion that it’s Standard? I can’t figure this out for the life of me and there aren’t any markings. The weird thing is that the guy in the hat on the 2nd page looks exactly the same as the guy on this cover.

I asked about this on the original art section and someone suggested asking here as there are probably more readers who can help. Can anyone tell me which comic this story is from? I’m pretty positive that artist is Mike Sekowsky, but I’ve looked for hours and can’t find anything on what book it’s actually from. I’m pretty sure this is right on the borderline of Golden and Silver Age. I love having a nearly complete story but it would be great to know which comic it’s from for my reference.

Any 50s sci fi fans? Those 4 pages are wracking my brain. I just want to know the title, but can’t seem to figure it out. I figured it was something from Sterling (since everything else is from them) but none of the stories match up (according to the synopsis on Mycomicshop).
