  5. Some great books my brethren.....some fantastic books as well. I have continued my plodding on the Wrightson 11 ( HOS 92, Swamp Thing 1-10), I have added Swamp Thing 2 CGC 9.6 w/ white pages, but sold my HOS 92 CGC 7.0 about a month ago due to wanting to upgrade to 8.0-9.0 for that issue. So, need to aquire a HOS 92, Swamp Thing 3, 4 and 6 and I'll be done with the Wrightson 11.
  6. Picked up WBN 10 and 16 slabbed in 9.4.......heck, I was plodding with this, but when you can pick them up for the price of basically slabbing them w/ shipping included...well, pulling the trigger is easy.
  7. Outstanding books everyone, I love to let the pages pile up, then browse through the plethora of raw and slabbed beauties!!!! I just got in another Werewolf by Night slab......the plodding along......taking my sweet time slabbed run, anywho, it's WBN # 38 9.4 from the Bowling Green Pedigree, which gives me two from the BGP as I have MSpot 2 in 8.0 as well. Happy Hunting my brethren!!!!!!

  10. Hey Supa, by looking at your avy, man you could pull off Morbius in a heart-beat, and ya still laying off the ganga??
  11. Seems like all the cartoons on cable already serve this function-No? Just watch and listen
  12. That lingo sounds like the set up of an Oceans 11 caper. ......god, I do love this place.....how did I ever stay away so long
  13. I never looked at it this way - makes perfect sense! Chit, out don't even know if it makes sense.....sounded good though, just my inner Tupenny and Dover trying to come out
  14. If you're making the comparison with '98-'99, perhaps...perhaps not. Any other time period? Not a chance. Late 80s and early 90s, there were LCSs absolutely everywhere...and all of them stocked 1,000s & 1,000s & 1,000s of back issues. Hell, a good proportion of their income was generated this way. These days? Try to find a LCS. Try to find one with back issues. Taxguy says there are more collectors post-eBay...and you offer the fact that local comic shops barely stock back issues as evidence against that? I'm not saying he's right, as I have no way to measure the size of the collecting community, but the primary reason local comic shops are barely selling back issues now is because collectors no longer sell to them, they sell to each other directly...and guess why? eBay. Every shop in my area tells me the same thing, they used to have collections walk into their doors unsolicted throughout the 80s and 90s, but that slowed and eventually stopped after 1999, so their stock sucks now. The only local comic shops I've seen with decent back issue selection are the ones where owners actively seek collections out as opposed to waiting for collections to come to them. BINGO FF, Ebay is the Back Issue market now, as my LCS calls me ( case with the 3 NM 98 I unloaded), I come in usually make the deal since the buyer is "motivated" and then give the owner a bird dog fee for the hook-up. When I was still in the Raleigh area I cleaned out both Capital Comics stores and Foundations Edge of Silver Age Spidey and FF and the VF or better Marvel Horror I sucked up like a Black Hole (whoops, that's porb headed to the "out of context member quotes"), it especially true for WBN 32 and TOD 10 as both LCS call me for them at least twice a month. The pure fact is as you put it-Ebay is the transcendental long-box for back issues and the LCS simply can't recover from this to re-stock a quality back issue selection-Peace CC.
  15. These new collectors, then... Just when are they going to start arriving because by every measurement you want to take, this hobby is getting smaller by the week. And the census figures tell you that this particular book will be easier to catch than crabs in COI's crib. (thumbs u Once again, yes, this thread is about the 9.9 mega sale, but my references were to raw sales......and it's still cooking.
  16. Well, to be totally honest, I was......"I've got $250 tied up in 6 of these books!!!! Then the wave hit and it was on....as they say, this is the one book the stink factory called Wizard, just might have sparked an inferno?
  17. For all our sakes, I certainly hope the movie doesn't blow chunks. Yes, a good movie with sequel potential will drive sales raw and slabbed alike. So, ( as I crack my first beer of the evening) here's to Deadpool..... man we really need the beer mug toasting smilie
  18. You bought it didn't you? No, but I bought my 6 for $250 and sold 3 for $450....all raw, I'll sale one of the one's that come back from the slabbary.....so, I've done alright by Mr. Deadpool.
  19. To Doc, this book is the hottest thing going on the coast and everybody is looking for it. I understand your point, but where was NM 98 in accordance to Hulk 181 at the same age....aka X years after print, would an Hulk 181 at 18 yrs of age sold for $12,000+ in CGC 9.9??-no because the slab was not here yet. Also, couple the fact`that the collecting community has been salivating for the next big key for awhile now.....and they have one. To each his own, plus, when I refer to the Hulk 181 comparison.....understand I'm not doing it from a slab zombie frame of mind....CGC census zombie frame of mind, but a collector of HG raw books, which this book has the potential to become the next 181.....nice #'s though.
  20. I snatched up 6 copies when it was starting to warm-up, and had $250 tied up in the 6 books, all 9.6 range. I'm keeping one raw and going to slab another two, as for the other three.......got a call for the other 3 by my LCS, as they had none and had a highly motivated buyer.....said I'd be there in 15 minutes. The code we use over the phone is "motivated", so to make a long story short...we agree all three are in the 9.6 or better range.....I say $500.......buyer says $450......I fudge/squirm for a bit and say.....alright. The buyers own words were.....this is the next Hulk 181 and the next Wolverine.
  21. This fire has had fuel thrown on it for awhile now, in my neck of the woods it's considered the biggest book/key to evolve since Hulk 181,most speculate Deadpool is the next Wolverine as far as popularity and building a true following, and the book will continue to rise, most just focus on Deadpool and not who happened to draw him ( another topic altogehter), so the speculators will follow, however, this seems like a "fanboy" buy with deep pockets who belives some marinating in the slab box will reap rewards in 5-10 years time. The amount paid seems stratosphere at this time and most likely will remain the top dog for awhile, but nontheless some truly believe this is the next big key by a long shot.
  22. Very Nice Hunting everyone!!!! Still hard to see Greggy snatching up the Marvels though......, he 's probably doing it to get under the Marvel Zombies skin!!!
  23. You gals and guys are great, this thread is like one of those huge candy stores, you walk in and can just look around for quite awhile at all the goodies. Kraven the Hunter would be proud of all you big game hunters!!!!! Keep bringing'em down!!!!
