  1. No, people got bored and stopped watching it after 2 episodes because there were no space wizards or laser swords, moth attention span
  2. The lower viewership for Andor just proves fans have the attention spans of moths.
  3. Well, she was kind of that way in Wanda and folks liked the character enough that many wanted this show. Hann is a comedic actress. My guess is it may get more serious.
  4. Yes. My LCS gave me some stacks of the free (preview?) comics they'd get and I gave them away. Spiderman and X-Men, I think, more obscure stuff isn't going to move.
  5. Well I said #1s were speculated on, and Demon is a kirby book and Shadow 1, and yeah, Swamp thing with the Wrightson art got speculated on beyond #1, true. But Sinister Secrets and Weird War tales are not really hoarded books, just because you see a few together doesn't mean that. The speculators 50- years ago were much less into DC books, but they did like Kaluta, Wrightson, Kirby. Green Lantern was sp speculated on it practically got cancelled shortly after the John Stewart appearance? I once owned 20+ copies of Albedo 3 (2d Yusaji), does that make it a hoarded book?
  6. you're showing marvels, other than some #1s like Shazam and the Kirby books, DCs were not speculated on like Marvels
  7. A long time ago in the 90s back in the St. Paul church show days in Manhattan I was perusing a regular dealer there (for all I know he is on these boards, although he is probably in his 70s now), skinny long hair guy, blondish hair, I think his skinny wife would come too.... and that day I decided it might be fun to go for some early SA Wonder Woman comics so I pulled out a few and literally before I could even make an offer (and before I said any words that would indicate I was trying to haggle) he told me no, he doesn't discount, thos are expensive (like I couldn't afford them?), was really obnoxious about it. This was the first and last time I went to his table (which had nobody else there). I was a regular at those shows and typically dropped about $500-1000 (I used to be single and made money), which was real money then, I wasn't just chasing dollar box books. It was weird and quite offputting. I'm not going to pay your mortgage, but if you're one of my regular tables at a show I'm going to spend $100-400, guys like me add up over the course of a day, don't tell me to F off before I've even opened my mouth.
  8. My haggling usually comes when I'm buying a stack of books, rarely for a single item, not that I've never asked "would you take $100" for something marked at $120. And yes, it is part of this game, but annoying when someone thinks they're doing you a favor offering $2 for an item marked at $3.
  9. well, yes, my down payment would need to be 2X as much now. with that said, i'm actually making more around 2X what I was making in 2006, go figure
  10. Interest rates are about the same as when I bought in a pretty hot market in 2006. I had excellent credit and I think I was at 6.5% (yes, of course I refinanced later to a chunk less), so I see 6.9% now. It seems crazy high, but historically, it is not.
  11. Yes, thst. Rival Sons (midnight sons) was also really good and Clutch was Clutch. 5 hours on my feet was rough. My wife wound up able to come for the Clutch portion, despite all the 50 somethings it got pretty rowdy with a lot of moshing about 20 Feet away.
  12. Not that anyone claimed it, but I sent the ticket tI the wife in case she finishes her teaching gig early, but she isn’t dressed for this crowd
  13. Oh well. General admission is all standing. We shall see how I hold up.
  14. Never heard of Madball, but I think I'd like them for working out.
  15. Maybe I'll just let someone in at the door with my extra. I feel kind of dumb buying two tickets but my wife was a go until last Friday when she suddenly got a teaching job on Thursdays, I was so excited that they were finally in NYC as I had opted not to schlep to NJ or PA in the past.
  16. Any NYC locals interested? All my people I was going to use my spare ticket on bailed (including my wife, who, ironically, will be teaching 5 minutes from the show). One ticket free. First come first serve. Ticketmaster isn't allowing re-sale, but it looks like I can transfer it. Seems like a waste not to use it. I am not sure if I get a seat or it is standing, it is general admission. Cost me like $64 after fees. And how is this comic related? If you know Clutch, you know half their songs are practically comic stories.
  17. People who don't know anything about comics would never walk up those stairs to either location and only someone who knows nothing about comics would spend money on any of them
  18. Just like the cylons and humans on BSG
  19. I'm still fat. Just less so. 255 at my height (5' 10" on a good day) isn't exactly skinny. But, technically, no longer morbidly obese. Yay.
  20. Very cool. I found one of these in the dollar boxes in Koch's Avalanche of Wonder. I have no idea how none of the other boardies who used to scavenge there missed it. I was pretty excited even though it was more like a VG/F.
  21. Bummer that I did not see this a few weeks ago. I don't have time to put together a stack and get it down to Florida before the end of the month.
  22. There's a newstand at the union square station and I think he had a long box of books at $5 each. I went through the whole box on the off chance that at that price, nobody ever looked in the box, but yeah, there was nothing decent in there
  23. It was well loved. Plus, it is a "Fine Minus" by 1982 grading standards...
