  1. Oh ok. Yeah even though I have shipped all over the globe, I still forget International shipping. It definitely can be ridiculously expensive. Still for your early submissions I would still recommend taking the initial plunge and getting the lowest paid tier. Thinks its $149 or so, comes with $150 in grading credit plus 10% . It has the direct submission access, which allows you to track your submission, but one of the most invaluable tools , if not doing prescreen, would be they also allow access to the graders notes. Which will somewhat help you refine they way they perceive certain defects and the effect they have on grade.
  2. I am not sure they are still doing this, but wondering if you are going to submit and want to track the progress( or lack of) why not pay for the membership and use the credit which would offset that cost as well as discount the cost per book ? Or if you are not as concerned about the tracking etc, why not submit through some of the larger dealer programs that offer around 20% on submissions through them?
  3. Yeah I was a sucker for these mail away comics. Still have the Quick, as well as my last submission included the Safeguard that got a 9.8 WP. The Peanut Butter Action 1 . Then at that point started after some of the giveaways. Turns out that was a rabbit hole, which eventually lead me to this thread about mall variants.
  4. I remember several events. They mentioned a Ballon release( 1000 Red , White , and Blue) at the White House after the Easter Egg Roll and the Anti Drug message Superman delivered to the children present. The Action Comics 1 Nestle Quick Promotion was also mentioned in the paperwork. Here are better images of the paperwork shown. In addition to the Nestle Quick, They also bad a 50th Anniversary Action Comics 1 reprint. Metropolis held a Birthday Event that had all kinds of stuff from promos, license plates, stickers, coins, cards . Which I am sure this was some of what they meant by many regional and national events in the paperwork. Same for the Mall Events.
  5. You are welcome. I have been slowly over the years trying to get pictures and sort everything. Maybe eventually I will get it all done. If I could just quit adding to it , so that I dont keep moving those goal posts.. These boards are some of the few times I have been able to share some of it , other then over the years where I have sold off some of the excess on ebay , or traded to other collectors.
  6. But here are some other promos that featured Doomsday. First up in the middle is a card from Nintendo Power Magazine from the Super Power Club. Next is a promo of the Upcoming Previews Magazine and the upcoming Wizard Magazine ( same embossed design later used for the cover. Just left of that is the same image( harder to see not embossed on the card , but also used as a promo) I know I already shared an image of this, but not the back. This was a promo with the same image as the more common large promo, but this is card size and has the Legacy Promo card back. ( This version can be difficult to find and can be expensive) Last are some Canadian Kellogs Cello Insert packs for the Reign of the Supermen.
  7. Actually in a way this does tie in. Joe Jusko did the card art for the then praised and widely popular Marvel Masterpieces. Just after he was going to do a card series for superman with DC. So they made some promotional cards to distribute 3 versions have been found. One limited, numbered, and signed in gold paint pen. One blank and signed ( these were signed in roughly the same place and in gold paint pen are more than likely from the initial promotion, but after they ran out of the numbered editions.) The last were the left over blank and no signature. Any like yours were more than likely signed later. DC decided the cards would not be a full trading card set, but instead do a limited series and distributed them with action figures. The first release of the cards were 4 and they were usually signed by Joe Jusko in black Then adding to the line and as I said including them as a bonus in action figures. which as you can see from the backs of these there were the earlier versions, then the expanded set. They also had Deluxe versions of these where they realized some people didn't want to open them, but instead display them. So they did these Deluxe packs were the cards were not obscured by the figures and added a couple more Bonus cards in special packs. Now besides the Reign of the Supermen tie in there here is the direct connect. These packs also had some with bonus comics inside including you guessed it.. Superman vs Doomsday. Then the more valuable of this set was the planned but never technically released with a toy Superman Man of Steel Superboy vs King Shark. Which some believe this was made for the toy pack which was not actually produced and so was decided to be used instead as a promotional item and given away.
  8. But now to round out the cards. The Superman Holo Series. This set did contain Doomsday Cards and Inserts. Considered by many collectors to be the bane of their existence , as they actually did 4 variations of this complete set. One Silver, Gold, Bronze , Red. The bronze set was in specific boxes (not marked that contained one bronze per pack) and the bronze were very hard to distinguish from the gold short of having them next to each other, but yes the wrappers did say contain one bronze. The reds were another story. These only came 2 to a box , but were very limited and made this set almost impossible to complete. I was one of 3 that after years of searching and trading that finally completed this set, although now working on a second. If anyone has any of these let me know! This set like the DC Master Series also has 6 card uncut sheet promos. I was also able to get an uncut sheet of the set.
  9. I have been after myself for years to fully catalog, picture and build a webpage to display and give information on all of the DC sets. It has taken forever just to get the 6,000+ pictures I am currently up to and I would not say I am even half way... But now to break this up a bit some other Doomsday Items.. I noticed you had the SNES game, but the Sega needs some love too.. Wizard Silver Tribute, Doomsday on the Back. Greatest movie never made. Kevin Smith , Tim Burton, Nicolas Cage cast as Superman. Well at least they made a documentary on why it was never made.
  10. The DC Skybox did DC Villains Dark Judgment which also included Doomsday cards and Inserts. The set like DC Master Series had a Redemption Card to mail away for the Skymotion Card( the also had one that was a Promo which could be seen when you tilted the card. This set also had a Joker Promo for DC Dark Villains 2 ( which ultimately was never produced)
  11. I will also add that the DC Master Series also had a cross promotion with Pepsi in Mexico and did the entire DC Master Series Base Set and a slightly different Foil Insert Set.
  12. Now on to the DC Master Series. These Blue Framed Promos came from Skybox International Convention and the unframed were randomly given away to promote. other promotional cello packs and cards for this set, bloodlines ,death and return of superman! On the inserts I noticed you posted two of the doomsday dual sided inserts which is correct as the very first printing of these there was an error where the DS3 insert the S was printed backwards making it look like D23 which they corrected so both versions were circulated. you also showed the doomsday promo, but for this set there 4 versions. There is the P1, C1,D1,H1. Each from different distributors. the 6 card uncut sheets you referring to as box topper, was actually rumored to be Case toppers, but never opened a case to confirm. I do know these were also distributed as promos ( they originally printed extra sheets that the full set sets were cut into 6 card promos to distribute) ( I will save posting them all, you can get a full set of the 6 card promos) Like the Superman Returns set Warner Brothers Stores also got 250 of these framed and limited for sale. the actual box topper is the SP1-SP4 set , but the another sheet that was rumored never to be released uncut was the regular foil version of the box topper card numbered F1-F4 here are both. the specially marked boxes for the S1-S4 box toppers sheet The sell sheet for this set The skydisc in this set had a redemption card inserted into boxes that you had to mail away for the skydisc seen in my above picture of the inserts when you did Skybox would send you back the card in one of those card board sleeves you would get stickers or temp tattoos out of the quarter machines, but it contained these two cards with the skydisc. and finally for this set the uncut sheet of dual sided spectra card inserts.
  13. Like the uncut doomsday sheets of uncut sheets. I knew I hadn't uploaded all of the dc sets. Yes the Forged in gold cards were one to a box. Which had a sticker that stated it. They also had a Diamond Distributor Box that had the. Blue Skydisc. This set contains several Doomsday cards and promos. Starting it off with one you shared the Forged in Gold one per marked box inserts The the Forged in Silver which there are two versions. One is the Prototype Set which supposedly was limited to 1,500 sets. ( says Prototype on back of card) Then the standard insert set that was the same front as the Prototype set There is also two Promos Sp1 and the SW-1 Superman Kissing Wonder Woman Promo as well as the Skydisc insert. The skydisc printing has issues and produced a few variations one Green, one Blue Green , and one referred to as a blank( Black) The graded card 2.5 is an error that has a Skydisc back. at the Diamond Fall Flings Meeting/ Convention these were used as promotions The Sell Sheets and Order Sheets. ( some had barcodes on back for the store to use to order from Diamond. Sealed with the Promo given to retailers Store Display an info. sealed cello promo packs given away at conventions. the uncut sheets. and a couple pre finish production sheets( no foil or skydisc)
  14. Although I did not end up winning this one, I did get pictures of all of it. Here is the 50th anniversary of superman promo/press release kit. I was curious if the mentioned the Mall promotion, but did not see a reference in it.
  15. Thank you. Glad this one could join the rest . You have built an amazing collection and these look great together. When I first read this thread it took me back to the memories of strolling around the malls hitting the toy shops and book stores hunting for comics. Now that most of these malls no longer exist finding some of these gems has that nostalgic feeling of the hunt. Congratulations again!
  16. I guess you could say that, but funny enough my collection actually runs the gambit. This thread is about the death of superman, but I easily have more items that are not death of superman related.
  17. Wow.. I double checked their website as well and they raised the minimum for free shipping from what used to be $80 to now $200 . I would have sticker shock as well.. I take it that means their offer of orders of $200 free shipping does not apply to international shipping.. yeah that is crazy..
  18. True, but if you just keep watching you can find them for about $30... The issue is size and shipping..
  19. I would keep an eye out on these. The very first print had some errors where the backs were swapped on two of them. They must have realized as most are not those errors and the uncut sheets both un-numbered and the Warner brothers Numbered versions did not contain this error.
  20. Yeah. Took me forever to track down this sheet. LONG TIME AGO . When I was tracking down cards to complete most of my DC card sets I used many different card websites. One of the main ones was NSU Card talk. There I originally went by thoughtofyou13times, but later changed my id to onlyweaknesskryptonite, but was looking for any of the rarest promos, inserts, and uncut sheets. This was one of the last ones that I had heard about , but never saw. Until I managed to find someone who worked for skybox and they helped connect me with someone who had just this one... You are correct. The One True Superman mail away card was printed later to satisfy the redemption cards received, which as you said there were less printed. This is one of the few cards I have not found in an uncut sheet.
  21. Yeah.. I was debating on what all to drop on here. There have to be literally thousands of items they made for the Doomsday Death of Superman / Return / Reign. From the watches, figures, statues, bookends, games, audio books, cards, clothes, posters, promo items( pins, buttons, ads) then all the in store displays, etc. There is way too much to pictures and show it all.
  22. Just wait.. you start chasing rumors and ghosts trying to find uncut sheets , and rare versions of promos.
