  1. I know. They could have come strong and tried to undercut price in a few ways as well as allowed non sports. Instead they figured why not charge the same as the competition and not have to fully staff for the non sports .
  2. I was just adding a better explanation. It's like graders note on the label. This way any two 9's could have extremely different prices due to sub grades. Same as comics with better "eye appeal" sell for more. This was just so CGC could take a bigger piece of that pie and due to competition already doing the same.
  3. Similar to how on comics we know books can be strong 9.8 that presents well and others are not as they have miswraps or other issues but still are 9.8. This are identifiers added to card grading to help better understand what that grade indicates. Also as if the add graders note to the label.
  4. On this card here notice at the bottom of the label they have different grades for centering 9, surface 9, corners 9, edges 8.5. Those are the sub grades that help determine the cumulative grade of 9.
  5. Looks like more than just readers interested. That or you just started a renewed interest and hype..
  6. I have a TON of cards I would LOVE to have graded if the actually start grading NON Sports cards and if they are the CGC case and not the SCG they partner with for their sports cards. Admittedly most are more modern, but I do have a few sets I would really enjoy. First Vintage set I would like to send would be the 1967 Primrose Superman Set.
  7. With what kind of books are being produced now and CGC grades the next generation will be getting the Al Pacino Labels stating or more appropriate Hoo-Ha..
  8. Don't worry. We won't let it get around too much. Can't have all the , I can do this all days' of the world thinking you are a nice guy...
  9. This week was just a few odds and ends. and then picked up these to send in for the Bill Morrison in house Signature Series
  10. That is awesome! Congratulations! No wonder CGC recognizes @kav as an awesome board member!
  11. I too have done almost this exact thing before. I have over 2000+ 100% positive feedback and when I buyer contacted me before due to an item that was damaged in transit they sent pictures and requested a partial refund. My first response was this wasn't my fault or problem, and that they should file a claim with the USPS and let me know how it goes. Then they replied with would I just issue a 20% and I could file claim that they would be ok with that. I immediately replied without too much thought that they could just file the claim and if the post office didn't require them to surrender the item they would get 100% and the item. Right after I thought to myself is it really worth risking my feedback over $60. So without any more thought or communication i issued a full refund as well as sent a message apologizing for my thoughtless unsympathetic reply. Sometimes it's just the cost of doing business. I have been lucky not to have many attempts at a buyer trying to scam . I also haven't had any real issues with damage as I always over protect an item.

  13. That may be true. It is not something I am 100% sure on. I have heard that as well as using period correct staples. Still it becomes one of those hoping the graders agree that is what is there and that removing and rebending those staples doesn't get the graders attention and they give it the restored/conserved label. Its another gamble. I have not seen a sketch covers on a coverless, but have seen some over an original and they gave it a green label or the green yellow and it denoted married.
  14. I do know that if you remove staples or glue then these would recieve a restored label if you are going to have them graded. You also can not just leave them loose and send in for grading. I have seen several sellers that have either used archival tape or tab method to attach covers and still keep blue or conserved label. Note tab method is on the repro cover cut where staple goes in a ] shape and use the tab to gentle slide into the existing staple being careful not to loosen the staple. This all being said really should be taken with a grain of salt as truly should be handled by a professional as not to detract from the value of the original book or tamper with its originality as that would garner an amateur resto label and really hurt the book. Same with tape or glue as this can cause a myriad of issues.

  17. That's why I was backpedaling with the Rosie the Robot before she went Rosie the riveter on me...
  18. This is great topic. Unfortunately I can not remember the very first. We traveled a lot when I was younger and visited a lot of different stores. Most of which are no longer around. Several have already been mentioned such as Kmart , Sears, JC Penny , Toys R Us, and But we also visited a lot of Department Stores both stand alone and Mall such as Zayre later had its own stand alone toy storesand other specific toy stores Nothing like a trip down memory lane..
  19. Maybe a more anatomically correct Spider-man cover that looks more like Spider scat But to the OP I too am ok with the Bondage Cover and Label stating it , but as Black Adam said it needs to be true bondage and not this pump and dump descriptions.
  20. +1 to this. Although the way it is centered it makes it look like one of the 90's sized ashcans..
