  1. Ya know, one of the things that I never understood is why Adams always drew Batman's cape like there's a blast of air coming from right beneath him. Maybe it works whens Bats is standing on the edge of a roof, but in a room with a plain floor?
  2. That's because Neal appreciates the beatiful artwork that he did when he was in his prime. Stan Lee was just a writer. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the books he cockroach'd, he actually wrote. Oh well, I guess he had to contribute somehow.
  3. Yeah, it's odd. According to Overstreet, Tec 400 is the most valuable Adams Bat book out there. Even over 227 and Tec 395.
  4. Wow. Can't believe the price on the Warlords. Quite a firesale you stumbled onto.
  5. A book my parents bought me when I was 9 years old. Finally found one in nice shape for a reasonable price. Not sure I'd give it a 9.0 as the seller advertised. Seems more like an 8.5 to me, but the pages are nice and white though. A very nice copy.
  6. and talia al ghul has to be the hottest female in the batman universe. Speaking of Talia, how are prices on Tec #411 trending now? I still kick myself for not going through with a deal to buy the 9.6 copy on Clink for $820 a year or two ago.......... A very under rated book IMO. That book is a must have. just listed my CGC SS 9.0 on eBay No buy it now!! i wanted to give everyone a fair shot. (thumbs u besides, my BIN would have been supa aggressive. That would be a great book if it didn't have that Adams guy writing all over it. Could be worse. He could have drawn a cockroach on it as well.
  7. There seems to be a slight bump in value for this issue over 370 at CPG, but it doesn't mention anything about it being a classic cover. Anyone have an Overstreet handy?
  8. I had a good bid on that TEC 400, but knew I'd eventually be overtaken. I'd say about $750. If I had not spent $800 this month removing some trees that was threatening my house, I'd might have had a shot.
  9. I think it depends on how well the Dark Night Rises will do this year and whether DC can sustain the quality of it's current Batman related titles. If Rock Steady can also produce another quality Arkham sequel, that will definitely keep the interest up too. I don't keep up with the current industry that much, but it's obvious the Batman franchise is number one right now when it comes to cross media exposure. I've only returned to this hobby this past year and a lot of it has been due to my interest being peaked by: 1) The Dark Knight was the best superhero movie I've ever seen (note: Bats 227 makes a flash appearance in the DVD/BluRay documentary) 2) I'm a PC gamer and Batman: Arkham Asylum just blew away with how well it was implemented and executed. Still play it along with BM: Arkham City today. 3) Picked up a few of the collected trades and was very impressed by how well the stories are written these days. All this got be interested in collecting Bats again after 30 years. The O'Neil/Adams run was from my generation so that was/is my starting point and for varying reasons, issue 227 has become the symbol of the run. Of course, it helps that I'm not a kid anymore and have access to more disposable income these days
  10. Not to say that shilling doesn't exist, I don't personally think that's case with this auction. I think someone just really wants this book badly. I've bid aggressively in the past like this myself on some items. Sure, it's "only" a 9.0, but it's a REALLY nice 9.0 so I can see the desirability.
  11. Nice, way to rub it in conditionfreak. He forgot to mention the delivery person was a hot chick and he was able to get her number as well.
  12. look at mine same date stamp but in different place I know, right? That date stamp is painful. I'd take either date stamps over this miswrap. It's only saving grace is that it cost me only 75 bucks.
  13. Now this is another book that you don't see everyday. Since trolling the auction houses and eBay this year, I haven't seen any really impressive copies turn up. Finally settling for a nice 8.5 w OW/W pages.
  14. Really nice book. Since starting out with my 232 and 227, I've sort of been building around my Adams collection. Tec 400 is the last remaining key that I need. I've resisted buying lessor copies until the right one comes along.
  15. This is coming up in the Mar auctions over at CL. Beautiful copy. Blows my 9.0 away. Alas, I don't think I'll have the coin for it.
  16. Wow, whats the cgc 9.0 gonna go for ? I'm glad I got my 9.2 when I did That is a very nice book you have. I'd love to get a nice copy, but I just can't drive myself to really pursue this book for some reason. Prices are really high compared to other key Adams books. I guess it's because 1) I don't think the cover is all that special, 2) I'm really not a Beatles fan at all, and 3) I've read the book and it's got to be one of the most silly stories ever penned, even compared to other tales from the era.
  17. I guess mine probably doesn't count since it's all BA, but here's what I got (excluding the raw stuff).... Note: this 8.0 is actually superb. Why it's not a 9.4, I'm not sure
  18. Seeing all of these old Kane covers from my childhood also reminded me that more times than once, how disappointed I was with the interior art and sometimes the story. Man, Kane got me to buy a lot of books I wouldn't have actually bought.
  19. Gil Kane was my favorite Marvel artist as a kid. Right up there with Neal Adams who was my number one over at DC. My favorite combination was Gil Kane/John Romita. Could never get enough of those two.
  20. I don't think I actually ever posted a clear scan of my 9.4. The annoying CL sticker on the top/left has since been peeled off.
