  1. I agree. I don't, for example that Spider-Man pages have gone up in value because of the films. Two totally different audiences.
  2. I don't know about Chris, but there are some Dale Arden in chains panels that do something to me on a personal level!
  3. Also, you have to bear in mind that this is not an action page. Not sure how Buscema would've conveyed the subtlety of the page any better.
  4. It's not just the art that makes these pieces attractive, it's also the story, and they fit well together, something I think has been lost in recent decades.
  5. I was there too--wish I knew you were there--maybe next year! -- Alex
  6. I thought I recall the OP talking about the art show the week before. Were you at the SDCC this year, Chris?
  7. I'll play. Gift from Darwyn. His design for the character InQue from the Batman Beyond animated series.
  8. Agreed. Of all the A-list actors that have been featured in the Marvel films, she was by far the weakest.
  9. This is something I've been preaching for your. Most of the dealers are playing with house money, so they don't care if they sell anything. They'd rather hand on to it to keep prices propped up. I'm at the point where I'm largely priced out, and also, I'm perfectly content with, and proud of, the collection I have.
  10. Bummed I didn't get to see you at show, thought this year I spent much more time running around with my kids. Didb't expect to pick up anything at the show (I agree with much of what you said, but I did manage to pick up a grail or sorts on Wednesday night! ASFA has always been one of my favorite booth, and I'm glad to see you picked up something nice from Kent. --Alex
  11. Although, if you're gonna have AH! draw the character (and cover in particular), don't you kind of know what you are gonna get! And given that Veronica has the wealth, I kinda like that Betty has the boobs!
  12. I'm guessing that for most pieces, it wouldn't be cost effective. That said, I have a piece that I would love to get de-Olliffed.
  13. I remember being in the same situation. I was paranoid about someone stealing the art so I moved all of it (including some really big pieces) to my parents's house.
  14. I don't think interior designers are or were driving the Elvgren market, or the pin-up market in general.
  15. Two Elvgren lots passed today, including one at $50k below the price it sold for a few years ago.
  16. The problem with pencil pages today is that many look incomplete, meaning they're waiting for more than just inking. Josh Middleton pages, for example, are really just outlines, and it feels like 2/3 of the work is done digitally.
  17. Why do you thing everyone wears a backpack?
  18. Pollard was at the con. He'd probably recreate it for a couple hundred bucks!
  19. Well, I see the auction was ended early, and that somebody had bid $6,900. Another reason I hate Ebay.
