  1. 10/24/22: Received 12/7/22: Grading/Quality Control
  2. I agree with Todd, but the examples he gives aren't very good because the empty space is cramped. Maybe if the writer/artist had a smaller signature, sure, but Todd has a large signature.
  3. Following up with this and it’s still stuck in received. This one officially missed the turn around time.
  4. I called CGC for something unrelated a few days ago and inquired on this because it's so close to the 20 day TAT. I'm just really confused at this point as to what happened. Just going to add: I think in general CGC does a good job with holding to the TATs, but what happens when they don't? Because the TATs are just estimates and they can completely miss them (they even say that on the submission site).
  5. Also interested as well. Dropped off books for CGC Signature Series and nothing has hit my account yet.
  6. You quoted me on saying I pity the new collectors out there that are going to pay premiums on newsstands from the 1980s. Not all newsstands are rare. You are comparing the 1980s newsstands with a Star Wars #1 and those aren't close in similarity. Your analogy would be more appropriate if I said I pity new collectors that are going to pay premiums on newsstands from the late 2000s. I think newsstands from the later 1990s to 2000s are genuinely rare and worth the premium. But when nearly three-quarters to half of the total print run is a newsstand vs direct in the 1980s when direct is being implemented, how do you make the same case for rarity? There are a lot of uneducated collectors out there that are just going to associate newsstand and a barcode with being valuable without regard to rarity. If you don't believe me, just check eBay.
  7. I would applaud CGC for doing what was desired by the collecting base if a competitor didn't already do so years in advance. I pity the new collectors out there that are going to pay premiums on newsstands from the 1980s. Not all newsstands are rare.
  8. They say that you are a composite of the people you often interact with. So basically in life you are being influenced by the people around you at all times. In the past, there were still plenty of influencers in the comic collecting community (i.e. Wizard, Overstreet) but they just didn't influence on a large scale. The internet has unfortunately given more random people the platform to influence others on a wider scale so it is the responsibility of the individual to determine how much you are influenced. If you disagree with an influencer, use your pre-given ability and don't participate. There are certain trends that any collecting base goes through. There will always be a new shiny object for people to chase. The shiny object might be chased for a few days to a few years. Just because everyone wants the shiny object now doesn't mean they want it later. Just my take on the C2E2 variant: I don't want it and my valuation of the comic is zero. Because of the controversy, I now think there will always be a subset of people who think this comic is worth > $0 and some demand will exist. That's fine, I can't control that. But my valuation doesn't change and regardless of how the community perceives that comic, I'm not changing my mind and I'm going to keep going after my other goals. This is just a shiny object that will fade into obscurity.
  9. It doesn't look like CGC will be attending. Is anyone else facilitating?
  10. Just to follow up, got the confirmation today that CGC approved the request. Pretty much the response I was waiting for.
  11. I’m actually okay with the wait time, but it is the lack of transparency and communication that has me concerned. On the rare occasion CGC has made a mistake with me, they have gone above and beyond to correct the mistake, but mistakes happen. Given the circumstances of this signing, I wouldn’t be surprised if a mistake did happen because there are so many situations and cases that can happen. I would rather wait a few weeks longer and have CGC do the job correctly then have to wait even longer to fix the mistake.
  12. I sent three books for signing/pressing and requested a split between option 1 of sending the book to be graded and option 2 in forwarding books to the Marv Wolfman signing. Email was sent maybe two weeks ago. In that time I haven't gotten confirmation from CGC if they would approve my request. I understand the signing department is swamped with books, but just wished they would have the courtesy to even respond to my message. The last thing I want is for some miscommunication to screw something up and some additional transparency could catch a mistake before it happens. Timeline: March 11 - Received email from CGC notifying of George Perez signing cancellation. I respond on the same day requesting Option 1 and Option 2. March 17 - Sent follow up email to CGC as I did not receive a response.
