  1. This show has been postponed to May 28-30, 2021.
  2. I picked up this Astonishing #6 this past January. It has a great horror/sci-fi cover.
  3. His site looks like it is gone altogether now. I bought a few comics from him in the early 2000s. I thought the grading was mostly on target, but one of books ended up coming back restored when I had it slabbed .
  4. I did not have the bandwidth to collect the non-horror Atlas books seriously, but these are some of the highlights of the ones I picked up over the years:
  5. I think the Menace books represent some of the best of Atlas PCH:
  6. Thank you . I mostly sold off Atlas issues from titles that I did not feel like I could ever complete the entire run, but in those cases, I held on to the issues with great covers.
  7. I will post more from my collection soon. I am glad everyone is enjoying the pics.
  8. I avidly collected Atlas comics in the early to mid 2000s, especially Journey Into Mystery and Strange Tales, but I got away from it the past few years due to the significant escalation in prices for mid-grade and above condition books. I sold a number of the Atlas comics in my collection, but kept the majority. After seeing this thread, I decided to post some of the more notable issues in my collection:
  9. Paul, those are some great copies of some very rare comics. I'm impressed!
  10. Heck, I might as well go for the trifecta tonight:
  11. Don't remind me folks ... Look at that date - Feb / March 1952 ... and I still need a copy It's gonna cost me $$$. Great copy you have there. Please, please post more Mystery Tales if you have them. You asked for Mystery Tales, so here's one: Enjoy!
  12. This is a great thread I recently found! In the spirit of sharing, I'd like to show two of my recent pre-code purchases as well as a favorite I figured I'd share after someone mentioned it a few posts ago: D Crippen copy: D Crippen copy: Old favorite:
  13. Beautiful books! Gargantus was the rare monster that made two appearances in the Pre-hero books. The other appearance is in Strange Tales #85, which has another great monster cover.
  14. This VF+ 8.5 Strange Tales #9 is the only slabbed one to date: It's one of my favorites of the early issues.
  15. Well, even in 4.5, which is what that comic graded, it was worth it to me to slab it. In fact, I'm thinking of putting the whole Venus run on the CGC registry eventually, provided they ever update the registry again.
  16. Speaking of Bill Everett, here is the cover of the comic book that has been my Holy Grail for the past few years (I finally got a copy a few months ago and had it slabbed at the LA Wizard World show). I know this is predates true pre-hero Marvel comics, but Atlas did eventually lead to Marvel :
  17. Keeping on the Egyptian theme, how about this Sphinx cover (this is actually from the Big Apple pedigree, though only a CGC 6.0):
  18. Thanks for the info about the photo site. I'll get set up there and hopefully put up some scans soon.
  19. I tried to post the cover to Tales To Astonish #8, but alas, the MSN page that hosts my images is flaky. Tales of Suspense #32 is the beehive cover. Are you talking about Tales To Astonish #31? Journey Into Mystery #61 also has a mummy cover. If you go back to the Atlas comics, the mummy on the cover of Mystic #22 is very impressive.
  20. This is a great thread. I collected the Pre-Hero Marvels and then went back to the Atlas era comics (finally picked up Journey Into Mystery #37, the last comic I needed, at San Diego in 2002). It was fun and challenging putting together the four titles. I'll post some of my favorites, starting with what I think is the best mummy cover of all time:
