I displayed comics on this bookshelf for about a year and a half. Then I moved and my available space changed and books went on display on a chest of drawers. I moved again and now it's been about 5 months since I put up anything to showcase. I need to figure out my priorities.

My collection started in New Mexico and has made the move across state numerous times, to Washington DC, Texas and Alabama.
Before my kids were born I had a room. A room for my junk and collectables.
Now they're in the Harry Potter closet under the stairs.
Hey, in ABQ, NM I figure it beats even a mile high basement in Denver.

Despite not wanting to display any one book for too long, many find themselves back on the bookshelf. They're likely a favorite or have a cover I don't tire of looking at.
My hobby once consisted of 7-8k comicbooks. Now I have around 1500.
There's a core group of around 500 kept in 6 short boxes. These are mostly keys. There's another 5 long boxes of books along with 2 long boxes and a couple of paper ream boxes of graphic novels and TPBs.
In the garage there's another 2 long boxes of drek. I got to be careful with these though. Since returning to comic book collecting in 2019 I rescued a number of now-important issues from these drek boxes. Some examples: Captain America 6 (Winter Soldier), Young Avengers 1-2, the Boys 1, Umbrella Academy 1, Hulk 1 (red), and, most recently, New Avengers 7.
Probably around a 100 comic books from my collection wind up on display. I really should start putting up more.

I look back on my hobby as three distinct phases.
Phase 1 - 1985-1997 (age 10-22). I collected anything and everything I could find and afford. My comic book budget was funded by chores and money I saved from birthdays and Christmases. I grew up in southern New Mexico and sometime in the future I may talk about regional scarcity. There were slim pickens but I did alright.
Phase 2 - 2003-2012. I returned to the hobby and bought moderns but also focused on older, mainly Bronze Age keys. By the end of this era I dumped about 75% of my collection which once numbered probably 7-8K books.
Phase 3 - 2019-present. I can't really afford anything so I play with and enjoy what I have.
The comic books on display break down like this: about 2/3 are from my childhood and teen years; the majority of what's left are from my thirties; since returning to the hobby I've bought about 150 books and they're somewhat underrepresented in what's displayed.
Anyways, here's more comics.

Books are on display usually between 2-4 days. My bedroom faces south and gets a lot of sunlight but nothing directly onto the display.

Not too long ago someone created a post asking us how we enjoy our collection. It was refreshing to read all the different, and the familiar, responses.
One of the ways I enjoy my collection is through pictures I've taken of it. Sure I'll read a few books a week and I'll flip through boxes, pulling something out to look at, pretty often. But the catalog of my collection is solely pictures I've taken of it and with phone handy I'll scroll through those galleries daily.
Those pictures I like to play around with, juxtaposing books with one another in collages. Maybe it'll be evident what I was going for in each.

I didn't use this chest of drawers too much for display. Cats liked to lounge on it and books sometimes got knocked around. The cats pretty much never jumped up onto the bookshelf.
