  4. Fantastic season. As usual.
  5. Apologies if this is (likely) a repost, but I saw this on the wall at jury duty in NYC. The link has a higher res version- https://digitalcollections.nypl.org/items/510d47d9-4f7e-a3d9-e040-e00a18064a99 Quite a few pulps in there. 1935
  6. The two greatest flips of all time are coming to court... https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/04/arts/design/dmitry-rybolovlev-sothebys-trial.html I have opinions, but I'd rather hear yours.
  7. Hope it's OK to post this here... The missus can't attend with me this year. So I have an extra Thursday ticket. Anyone want to buy it at a discount for $40? PM me for details. You'll need a ShowClix login to transfer it to.
  8. https://goldin.co/item/original-bob-ross-painting-goldin-100-de2ab?queryId=eyJjYXJkSW5kZXgiOjB9
  9. Demo in the bottom left corner. At a VHS rental store in this rom-com.
  10. I'd guess lightboxed with no pencils. Has anyone ever seen uninked Xeroxes? Copies of the pencils may never have been made. Discussion and reproduction here-
  11. It's all fun and games until the Work Study freshman knocks over a bubble tea on top of that thing. Seriously, makes me a little sad. All of that art locked away from the collectors who would really love it -- until it fades into obscurity. Donate a key issue or cover or something -- not the full shebang.
  12. I don't have a lot of faith that it was just a cosmetic hack and the back-end database wasn't compromised. So I'm getting ahead of this... I replaced both cards CLINK had and changed my password on any other sites that had the same password. (I should've known better not to do this in the first place, but I setup these accounts a long time ago when the internet was a safer place.) The rest of you should use unique, random passwords for every site. Setup MFA wherever you can. I'm also going to take advantage of virtual credit card numbers going forward. Check with your credit card company to see if they offer this feature.
  13. Yeah, I'd recommend the OP develop a network of other trusted collectors who he can bounce things off of. An original art "cabal", if you will...
  14. Would the Whitney stamp a piece of original art on the back? Seriously not likely. When was this supposed exhibit? I can't find it on Google. And I don't see anything by him listed on the Whitney site. So this statement feels a little fishy- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Kane I do see two pieces he donated to the MOMA, but if the dates are 1967 as stated, someone else drew them! https://www.moma.org/artists/30424 (Anybody know anybody at the MOMA? They should change this attribution in their catalog.) If this Whitney exhibit was supposedly before 2015, the Whitney wasn't even at that address- https://whitney.org/about/history I'd return that drawing, if I were you!
  15. Try a local mom & pop print shop. They should be able to sit with you and run a scan to a 600dpi TIFF file.
  16. They told me that paintings fall into the "fine art and luxury goods (furs, etc.)" area of underwriting. I wholeheartedly agreed- https://outside-affiliatelinksnotallowed.com/yu98zfah So at their suggestion, I went and got a Fine Arts policy from Travelers -- which does need all of the paintings to be itemized along with acquisition value (or appraised value.) I looked through my CI policy, and I don't see any language forbidding paintings. But I'm going to assume they know the coverage they're providing better than I do and will stick with their recommendation just in case.
  17. Same here. As CI doesn't cover paintings.
  18. Bricks are how real collectors pay for their art-
  19. Fellow boardies... I'm late to the party on getting this posted for a friend of mine (friend of mine? friend of ours? Hmmm... Gotta rewatch Donnie Brasco.) He's got this really rare full Aline Kominsky-Brumb story, see? It's at Heritage, see? It's got some crazy-ash stories about New York mobsters in the 60s and youse needs to buy it, see? (James Cagney creeping in a little, now. Apologies.) https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/complete-story/aline-kominsky-crumb-twisted-sisters-4-complete-10-page-story-wiseguys-original-art-kitc/a/7340-93127.s?type=DA-DMC-ComicArtTracker-Comics-7340-06222023# Anyway, here's the hoity-toity Heritage write-up. That guy Hignite sure is class -- Seriously, you don't see these things -- like, ever. Plus, it's freakin' hysterical.
  20. Here are two terrible minutes in Photoshop just playing with overall levels. You can already see the original brushwork/marker strokes better. An actual skilled digital restorer could go further and mask out the faded lines and correct those back to full black (or whatever they were at time of publication) without sacrificing any of the original intent.
  21. I think this is the key point in regards to oil painting conservation/restoration. But with something as simple as an inked drawing, I feel the better route is to preserve the original and make a corrected print for presentation. The original artist's linework can be brought forth and not covered up. I will say the original artist is likely not the best person to restore inks on a piece. It's just a different skill set.
  22. Yeah, this would be great. Plus the ability to Save/mark your selects right from the main page (like they did this year with the CAF Awards.)
