  1. Here is one of the more difficult Detectives to find in decent grade, Detective 230, the first appearance of the Mad Hatter. This copy has supple OFF White/White Pages.
  2. Never seen it. Cool obscurity! Actually, It's Game Time #1--not #4. "My bad".
  3. Here is my copy of It's Game Time #4. I don't know the grade it would get, but it is one of the better copies you'll see of this very tough book to find.
  4. I've been very pleased whenever I find a nice one. Those are three beautiful copies. I have all three, too, but not in such high grades. But I still treasure them because of their scarcity. Great books! I checked the census; there are six Action 212s and two Action 211s. You're right. These are very scarce books even in VG--and especially in 5.0 or higher. Thanks for scanning yours. When I have some time, I'll go digging for mine and scan them.

  6. If you can't read the issue number it's Action 210! Could this be a ... wash-tone cover? I love this cover too. Never thought of it as a washtone, but now that you mention it, it seems to have some of the characteristics. Ken I don't think it's a washtone but it's a very cool book!!!! I checked the census on the book and there is only one slabbed copy--a 5.5. I think this copy would grade right around that perhaps a 5.5 or 6.0, but I don't think I'll have it slabbed. The story was printed only once that I know of: in 1973 in a super giant size of The Amazing World of Metropolis. Turns out that Michael Goldman of Motor City Comics had a copy of that book so I bought that as well. Also, I think the story and the art may have been an inspiration for the Superman Festival every June in Metropolis, Illinois. Just conjecture, of course!
  7. If you can't read the issue number it's Action 210!
  8. Here is the first Action since Action 18 that doesn't have Superman on the cover. Picked it up at SDCC from Motor City Comics. It's been a grail of mine for a while.
  9. Just back from CGC, early All-American Men of Wars are very difficult books to find in high grades. Here is the highest graded copy. The book includes a Ghost Squadron Story and a Devil Dog Story. Cool!
  10. I will add that the issue contains the origin of Batman. There are only four in the census. Not certain when CGC has updated their census report. The highest graded is a 7.0. My copy graded a CGC 6.5. I bought the book in 1994 from Fantasy Illustrated out of Seatlle owned by Dave Smith. Haven't seen or heard about him from years. He had a store in Anaheim area of So CAl, but then moved his base of operations to Seattle, WA. I bought the book at the Shrine Auditorium. It was a grail of mine at the time. When Busted Flash comes over my house this Saturday, he'll scan the book for me. I've forgotton how! StevenRams. Shakespeare's Sonnet #16 Let me not to the marraige of true minds admit impediments. Love is not love which alters when alternation finds, or bends with the remover to remove: O no! It is an ever-fixed mark that looks on tempests and is never shaken. It is the star to every wondering bark, whose worth is unknown, although his height be taken. Love's no Time's Fool, although rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come: Love's alters not with his brief hours and weeks, but bears it out even to the edge of doom. If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved. For Edward Kennedy--Shakespeare knew what marriage was about; a rocky road indeed. We'll miss you Ted; I will attend Saturday Services at my local synagoge!

  12. At San Diego Comic-Con, I submitted a Detective Comics 190. Came back a CGC 6.5. Hooray! Steve Roberts
  13. This issue also contains both a full-page ad for Flash 105 and a one-page profile of "TV's Lois Lane", Noel Neill. Definitely a cool book!
  14. Finally, got this slabbed. I always wanted to upgrade this copy, but I can't seem to find a better copy. This book came back a 6.0 with OW pages.
  15. It's not really silver age, but it's not really a golden age either. Didn't know where else to post it
  16. I don't see many ten-cent WWs on this thread. Here's one:
  17. It took me a while to find a decent copy of this book. It's a slabbed 6.0 with off-white pages.
  18. Ken, Beautiful copy that Uncanny Tales. I saw you looking through that box at the show on Sunday. Congrats on a great book. Say hi to Danny for me. Steve
  19. Nice book, Dan. I bought a copy from PCE about 10-12 years ago. Yours is a bit nicer. I'll have to scan mine when I have a chance. Congrats--that's a great book!
