  1. It depends on the policy. Very detailed pics and inventory with cert # will definitely help… Many of those high dollar books will likely not be covered as there is often a cap. And without cameras or footage showing the actual burglary the insurance company can call shenanigans quite easily. In my experience with small business, this business would need to provide more evidence for a claim to be fully covered. Many insurance companies will require the small business to have video surveillance to be fully insured from burglary. Burglary is a grey area for insurance companies and small business. It’s very difficult for small business to prove they owned the book which was was stolen so small businesses usually have to settle for much lower claim. An adjuster or actuary will instantly be suspect of the inventory listed. Looks like an inside job. The list is almost too good to be true. A very unfortunate situation for the owner and I hope the claims adjuster is kind. Let’s hope these books are recovered and the perpetrators arrested!
  2. I watched 2 episodes and had a hard time getting through the second episode.. Was really excited for a horror based superhero in Chicago that jetsets around the globe going on dank and creepy missions. sort of Indiana Jones-Batman-Dracula vibe. What we got was a reimagined mess. the source material was perfectly fine. imagine if Chris Columbus decided to write his own Harry Potter movie and throw out source material. the amount of disrespect the comic industry puts up with just for agenda driven m she u is pathetic. my god just stick to source material Disney plus it’s not hard. if I wanted to binge on searchlight films or character driven indie comedies with quirky cliche I’ll go watch eternal sunshine of the spotless mind or Napoleon dynamite again. thanks for wasting my 2 hours, give me superheroes in actual action scenes please. Wtf is up with Disney plus and m she u? rant off, cheers gents and ladies
  3. Rest In Peace. May nothing but happiness come through your door into the great beyond.
  4. I’ve tried to wait until delivery and unboxing but curiosity always gets the best of me! it’s when I have multiple submissions where I start getting obsessed! does anyone else check their status like 3 times a day?
  5. At least the seller didn’t cancel a day before the auction ended. With due diligence you’ll get a 251 in better condition for sure! take it as a win instead of a loss. If staples were detached as suspected you might have overpaid! Good luck! When you find a good looking copy in your price range post pics!
  6. A lot of times it feels like people have become slaves to these social media apps. reading this thread for instance. It’s apparent social media is the big collectible here, not comics. Facebook Twitter Instagram discord and tiktok are becoming more detrimental to society. I went to order an exclusive drop from a major online retailer and they required at least 3 apps to make the purchase. One of the apps required was the one discussed on this thread. It’s sad seeing society controlled by ad revenue
  7. Kevin Eastman used to sign and doodle a turtle face as part of the regular priced signature. In fact most of his pre Ronan sigs included the turtle face doodle. And he happily did it free as it only takes him about 4 seconds to draw it as he’s said before. But now Kevin Eastmans signature is considered a “Remarque”? can someone clarify? For instance the recent books I sent in for Kevin Eastman I kind of expect the doodle turtle as it’s been a staple and part of his signature for decades. sadly looking at feebay and all the new sigs DONT include the doodle and it’s off putting. cheers all
  8. Thanks for sharing your story. There may not be much you can do given the circumstances surrounding the process. I don’t mean to be a downer or negative but there is no way to know for sure how they were damaged. All cgc staff handles comics very well in my experience. And most lgs that grade for patrons or customers also handle comics well. I suggest calling customer service and explaining your situation. I can’t promise any magic fixes but someone could at least help you resolve the matter and have some finality. Careful packaging and handling are very important. With an order that large I recommend making the submission yourself! Creating a submission is easier than ever. Online tutorials and cgc staff will always be there to help ensure the process goes smoothly. By giving your books to a third party it increases the chances of damage during handling as another user posted. good luck!
  9. Email customer support. Another useful email: Matt mnelson@cgccomics.com
  10. Are you referring to the signing card ‘cut out’ that must be placed in the Mylar behind the book? I suggest calling cgc. It may take a little bit to get through but the person you want to talk to is Brittany McManus. If you explain the situation and it’s just one book, Brittany McManus is a legend and absolute rock star. They will likely be able to help you. Just call as soon as you can. I know folks that have forgotten or incorrectly followed instructions whom have called in and Brittany was able to find the customers order and correct the order in most cases no problem! good luck!
  11. Rest In Peace, Greg. What a cool shop!! Great place to start of the day before walking across the Roberto Clemente bridge to see a ball game at PNC park! I have fond memories bringing in my 1 yr old son, Isaac(iko) and sifting through the dollar bin on the 1st floor! Or going downstairs and talking shop with Jim or another assistant. I still own many key comics I picked up from Greg. He sold me a Star Wars #1, (1977 1st print) raw for $30, and it slabbed a 9.2 after press! early fantastic four run of #44-47, the entire run of the first Deadpool kills marvel universe, countless x-men keys from the dollar bins..early Harley Quinn.. In the basement there was the long boxes by the stairs. all ripped or well read, many coverless books My buddy found a coverless hulk 180 for a quarter!! We found so many gems in those boxes beat to hell and coverless! all this was between 2010-2014 when I could still afford collecting keys!! I’m a Pittsburgh native (squirrel Hill, shady side). I’ve been fairly loyal to Todd Mcdevitt regarding the Tec 27 fiasco. There is a lot of speculative information floating out there but if you really want to talk to the source. Todd is often at his Elwood warehouse and you can talk to him personally. I don’t want to throw shade anywhere as I have the upmost respect for Greg and Todd but yes, there could easily be a Netflix documentary concerning the tec 27!! Rest in Peace brother, may the great beyond welcome you with open arms. Go stillers!
  12. Long live quarter bins!! New Dimensions warehouse in Elwood city PA (Pittsburgh) still has the best dollar books in the land! where do yinz go for dollar box books?
  13. My sympathies for the victim. Hopefully with well documented photographs and scans the community may be able to find particular books stolen in the collection but this will take lots of time. It may be some time before these books are recirculated. If not a safety deposit box at a major bank, I highly suggest storing your big investments in your own well secured home (adt premium 69.99 a month package with the 6 cameras OR for only 3.99 a month Ring is an option there are many viable options to safely Secure your collection. Also discretion plays a major factor. When networking on facebook or Instagram try not to brag or flaunt unless you have good security! Thanks bob for taking the time to help a fellow collector. good luck
  14. I’m in love with my recent signature slab. Thanks Brittany and crew at cgc!! Matt signed “sky guy” and Ashley signed “snips”. thank you very much Ashley and Matt!!
  15. I forgot to ask what about books like Captain America #6 (1st winter soldier) Is that key a part of the “avengers universe”? A or are we strictly referencing the avengers title only thanks!
