  1. My first time participating with a seller booth. Posted a bunch of "fresh" pieces and was surprised at how many examples I was willing to let go of, and surprised at how much fun I had creating my booth. Sold four pieces. Ghosted on one inquiry/offer. Overall had a good experience and look forward to next time. Thanks Bill.
  2. Bloomberg article about soft art market and recent drop in auction results compared to 2022 highs. I'm surprised at how frequently the pieces in the article were being flipped. Don't think we have the same market dynamics on comic OA, however, we do seem to also be seeing a softening. A Softening Art Market Has Hit Last Year’s Auction Stars https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-09-20/soft-art-market-sends-collectors-on-search-for-the-next-big-trend-in-art
  3. Did anyone that emailed about art successfully hear back and buy off the site? Ii got an auto reply about 6 weeks ago
  4. I've slowed down on both buying and posting. I suspect reasons for not posting fall into three buckets (for most) ONE No excuse not to post - I had a great X-Men #201 page that I sold via CLink last year - it was never on CAF. I can't speak to why I didn't post it. It represented a bunch of firsts for me: first Marvel page, first nostalgia page, first and only Leonardi page. I took plenty of photos but felt I never properly captured the image and so never felt the urge to share. On the other hand... TWO Posting the page only reinforces the already established theme on my CAF - I bought a glorious page last fall - the story behind the purchase is as epic as the page and I'll treasure the page forever...I've shared the page with a handful of collector friends, via email and text, so I could cut and paste a very long description that would accompany the page should I post it on CAF. But the page doesn't really offer any further insights into my collection. THREE First looks, wow factor - I've got art framed in the home office,I love my framed art but they've become commonplace artwork that I'm looking at every day. Conversely, art in my portfolio hits me harder when I pull the portfolios down from the closet shelves. Furthermore, the portfolio art that ISN'T on my CAF really stops me in my tracks. Maybe you can identify with one or all of the above. Let me know if there is a reason I missed.
  5. I always assume the dealer bought outright at auction and is looking to flip but I guess, to your point, the dealer is just the "clearing house"?
  6. Remember seeing this piece and being so envious. Great Dani piece and the floating frame really works best. Great art and great framing choices
  7. Heeeey - I resemble that remark! (in the immortal words of the Three Stooges)
  8. I've laid out what I'm after, year after year. The list hasn't changed but I've checked none of those boxes. So my plan is to keep adding to what I like.
  9. So about $3500 per page (check my math) - which, lets face it, is basically what some modern art sells for!
  10. Some items at auction ending soon....good luck to all. Asked Tim for Rogue "skinny-dipping in the sky", this is what he came up with. Now his signature suggests the orientation of the page but I actually think it works even better upside down. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3DTim%2Bvigil%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_1615479&id=1615479&itemType=1 Origin page for one of the best characters in the book - yes please!! https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3DSean%2BMurphy%2B%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_1615478&id=1615478&itemType=1 Love Dani's style and thought she did an amazing job creating a bit of magical sequential storytelling. Plus a cool eco-terrorist Wonder Woman story on her 75th Anniversary. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3DDani%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_1617208&id=1617208&itemType=1 Saw JML a few times at NYCC back in my youth. Didn't give him much direction. Just asked for Dawn playing a guitar. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3DLinsner%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_1615480&id=1615480&itemType=1 Maybe one of the earliest Dawn commissions? - Cry for Dawn was a new book and I loved JML style. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3DLinsner%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_1615481&id=1615481&itemType=1#detail Early 90s Art Adams. I love his take on Colossus. . I was torn between asking for Colossus or Longshot - I think this is perfect and love that he left the pencil underdrawings https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3DArt%2BAdams%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_1615482&id=1615482&itemType=1
  11. Counterpoint to everything I just said... Tokyo Ghost issue 4 page 2 just sold for $4500
  12. Summers is creating a second career outta being Mr gloom and doom
  13. Bloomberg has fair and balanced reporting. They've not buried a thing. We hit lows in June and then had the best July in.... 20 years? Now we are back to testing those June lows. We've got a Fed that's raising rates and shrinking the balance sheet. It's never had to do both. The glide path to a soft landing is narrow. Inflation isn't an American thing... It's global. The Russian invasion of Ukraine and China's zero covid policy is mostly to blame. Oil went from 130s to 80s, equity markets are choppy/volatile and down down down. Meanwhile, US economy is the best house in the worst neighborhood. USD is incredibly strong against the euro and Canadian dollar. Americans are seeing their buying power dwindle. Europeans and Canadians are in the same boat PLUS their currency is weakest it's been against the dollar in over two decades. I think that translates into less buyers bidding at auction and less interest in dealers and their inflated pricing.
  14. Another of mine. Currently available on CLink - if you haven't seen this yet - great example - with the Black Axe as a bonus. Hope it finds a wonderful home https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Dmouse%2Bguard%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_1603271&id=1603271&itemType=1
  15. Hi all - have this page at auction on CLink - wanted to post here in case you hadn't seen it. Good luck to all interested. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Drick%2Bleonardi%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_1603272&id=1603272&itemType=1#detail
  16. I noticed them and they weren't speaking Italian. At one point she was behind the table taking some photos of some expensive pieces hanging and speaking to one of the men with her (who remained on the other side of the booth).. Language definitely not Italian.
