  1. The "arguing" one can see is because the participants don't run to moderation to complain. It used to be, the delusional were noted as delusional, and dealt with as delusional...JC, for example. People still interacted with them, but when they ratcheted up to "more delusional than usual", they were ignored or shut down by other members. Now, sadly, delusional is the majority, and the majority finds solace and strength in numbers. And, like dead people, the delusional don't know they're delusional, and think they're making fabulous, logical, airtight arguments, but all they're really doing is engaging in petty personal commentary and attacks...which will then universally be followed by some form of "I know you are, but what am I?" It's a singular lack of self control and desire for revenge that drives people to go out of their way to deliberately seek and provoke conflict, some of which is designed to get people banned. That's not healthy. In any community. Too bad it's not recognized.
  2. Back then, when people "manned up and made their argument", they didn't get hammered by moderation. That's no longer the case. It's not the provocateurs who are the problem.
  3. "Bloodshorts" is a coming of age 80s Lifetime movie...totally different.
  4. It's recorded on GPA. Yep, $204 not counting shipping, January 2003. That was back in the days when no one had any idea how rare 9.9s and 10s would actually be.
  5. I should have quoted his entire post to give the full context. I don't think context is the issue. No matter; these things can't really be discussed here in much depth anyways.
  6. That's weird...by the time I came around, these had completely disappeared from the scene. My 70s childhood was Frosted Flakes, Sugar Smacks (I love that parents actually bought something called "Sugar Smacks", which have now been rebranded "Honey Smacks"), Cocoa Puffs, Cap'n Crunch and the like. I've never heard of these before.
  7. I was referring to the specific comment and response. I don't think Ianh's position is being correctly interpreted.
  8. And, by the way, specified no race in that statement...
  9. You're proceeding from the assumption that the white folks who were hired are more qualified than the Black/Asian/Hispanics who weren't. That is not correct, and faulty argumentation. He's not starting with an assumption, he's starting with a definition. He didn't say "if" they were less qualified...he said "when."
  10. Treating people differently...positively or negatively, for good or for ill...based on nothing other than their skin color is racism. It is what the word means, how it is defined. It doesn't matter who, it doesn't matter why. Actual equality is treating everyone based on the content of their character and their ability...not what they look like. This is disbelieved by many, many people in 2019, but treating others differently because of what they look like harms the entire society, little by little. It hurts those who lose out, and it hurts the beneficiaries.
  11. High Society doesn't make much sense if one starts there...the first 25 are the groundlayers, so to speak, and while #1 is straight up parody, the series established a lot of what would become High Society in the earliest issues. For example: the Roach makes his first appearance in issue #11, and he's a mainstay throughout the next several years. And...I daresay the Tick may be an homage... But, by all means, if people are offering, they should send whatever they think best. I haven't received a response from MGsimba, so I guess they're not interested...?
  12. That's because 1. most of the board could not care less about moderns, and 2. hypesters didn't start to misuse numbers to sell to suckers until a few years ago.
  13. It's amazing how the boards have degraded since then. Back then, people didn't run to the mods every time someone said anything that could possibly be interpreted as negative, and the mods didn't indulge those who did.
  14. This is what makes this board the envy of the internet...
  15. I miss Verzyl. That guy was an endless wealth of comics history. I spent several hours just listening him talk at his booth at SDCC,
  16. There's no need for you to try to provoke fights with others, and, though I don't speak for anyone but myself, I imagine that others feel the same way. Contribute to the discussion, but save the personal comments and insults for another board, as they tend to muddy up threads, and are the cause of threads being locked. Thanks for your cooperation.
  17. #127, #130, and #140 added. Just 20 more to go...
  18. I think this is the last of the brand new books. I never showed my SDCC books, so maybe I'll post those. It's a bit difficult to keep track.
