  1. I sent in my Turtlemania Gold 6/10 to CGC, and here are the results. I don't have the book yet, but I will post pictures once I get it:

Turtlemania Special 1 1986 Metropolis Comics

    Gold Edition

    Qualified 9.2 WHITE

SKETCH ""6/10"" ""PETER LAIRD 5/4/86"" & ""KEVIN EASTMAN 86"" WRITTEN ON BACK COVER IN INK.

Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird cover & art

    Orange outer cover.

    TMNT Cerebus & Flaming Carrot

    pin-up by Bob Burden.

I am very happy with the grade as I thought it might come in a little lower. So the CGC census will now have 1 9.6, 1 9.4, and 2 9.2's.

Besides my copy, are the other 3 census copies included in the 6 that are known? I know the 4/10 is not graded (at least not yet), and kaylab's 1/10 copy is not graded.

Strangely, there will soon be more graded copies of Turtlemania Gold than the Silver edition, which only has 3 right now.

  2. That Gold #1 is very interesting. Maybe they were testing the printing of the other covers.

I looked at Gold #6, and it only has the gold cover - no silver or white cover inside like #1.

I also see that the display for Gobbledygook says "150 copies printed" each, but everywhere else says only 50 copies. Which is it? Did Metropolis just have it wrong? It is listed in Turtlemania also as 150 copies each.

  3. I posted a WTB request for a lower grade Miracleman 24, but so far no responses. If anyone has one that they want to sell, please PM me. I need it to complete a run of 1-24.

I am trying to get the #24 "musty odor" one on the bay ( Miracleman 24 ), but I don't know if I will win it or not. Thanks.

  4. They're here! :cloud9: I received these yesterday in the mail.

    congrats, damn, that was FAST!

so jealous, I'm STILL waiting for my recent purchase, that I posted here, to arrive. First there was problem getting them shipped (the problem being the seller just never sent em out until I bothered them enough times over 2 weeks), and now the damn package is being held by US Customs, so I gotta get that straightened out tomorrow... still hoping they arrive in the condition I purchased them at, but I have no idea if customs has opened the package, and if so did they have any regard for the condition of the contents? unlikely...

Where are the books coming from? I went back and looked at the pictures again, and they look really great. I hope you get them soon and in the same condition as those pics.

  5. I was the winner of those two auctions for Turtlemania Gold. I was completely shocked to see a Turtlemania Gold #4/10 with a Buy-It-Now of only $450.00. I decided to look at the seller's other items. Shocked again! Another Gold, #6/10, for the same $450.

I have the tracking number already, so the books should be in the mail on Monday. I will post some larger pics when I get the books. Also, I think the way the seller took photos of the books, they may be a little lower in grade than before the pictures. But hey, these are still only 1 of 10 Gold edition books.

Should I get these graded? I think it would be good mainly for the encapsulation/preservation of the books. I don't think the grade would really affect their value much due to the rarity.

  6. Found a cool TMNT related comic this week at WWChicago...

    Independent Comic Book Sampler #1

I am sure you diehards already have it, but was a cool find with Flaming Carrot and TMNT pin-ups in the book!

    sounds interesting. more info please.

Here are some pics of Independent Comic Sampler 2. Apparently there were at least 2 editions of issues 1 and 2: green (ltd to 50), black (limited to 4000). I don't have #1 (if anyone knows where I can get #1, let me know).

Also found an interesting piece of info: the TMNT ad says that the first TMNT TPB had a print run of 5000. I have been looking for that info for a while.

  7. Anybody know anything about this Turtles TPB from 1988?

Rare TMNT Collected Book Volume 1 Ninja Turtles 1988 SC - someone asking $1400 on eBay

    ...

I have seen the 1st print softcover sell on ebay for anywhere between $65 to about $240. It just depends on the condition and frankly who's bidding at the time. Most of the time it is around either $70 for a Fine condition one and around $140 for a nicer VF/NM copy. Most of the SC copies are not signed, so that is a plus for your copy.

The limited hardcover version had a print run of just 1000 and was signed and numbered by Eastman and Laird. It goes for around $280 to around $600 from what I have seen.

Does anyone know the print runs for the softcover editions (1st 1998, 2nd 1990, and 3rd print 2009)?

  8. Here is one more of the #1 first prints. I got this off ebay last year. I would guess it would grade out somewhere around 7-8. I love that it is signed and sketched by both Eastman and Laird on the cover.

(sorry for the reflections - I did not want to remove it from the mylar)
