  1. Titan's Companion ? Ok let's see what it says right after Julie Schwartz's quote. "In reality it would be four years before Kid Flash, Aqualad and Robin would team up in the Brave and the Bold #54 (June-July 1964) and one more before they along with Wonder Girl, would be called the Teen Titans." How about this blurb right before your liberal usage of quoting Haney ? "It was Haney's involvement with the Brave and the Bold that led to his other high-profile assignment: the Teen Titans. Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Robin were the stars of the fourth B&B team-up written by Haney (#54), but whether it was intended as a stand-alone story or was always meant to be a precursor to its own series depends on upon the recollections of the author." Of course leading into this - "In any event, six issues later, exactly one year after Kid Flash, Aqualad and Robin teamed-up in the Brave and the Bold #54, the Teen Titans debuted in the Brave and the Bold #60, (July 1965). Joining the original three members was Wonder Girl, presumably to attract female readers to the series." "All told, the Titans would appear six times in the series, from their prototype appearance in 1964 to the team's last pre-Wolfman/Perez appearance in #149 (April, 1979)".
  2. From Metamorpho’s first appearance in The Brave and the Bold #57, with art by Ramona Fradon and Charles Paris. ©1964 DC Comics Click to view larger image Ramona Fradon and Metamorpho CATRON: Ramona [Fradon] said that this is probably the best work she’s ever done. HANEY: It was. CATRON: The most fun she ever had. HANEY: She was brilliant. Yeah. CATRON: So why don’t you —? HANEY: She’s not just the greatest woman artist in comics, she’s one of the best there ever was in comics. I’m trying to remember — the actual genesis of it was, again, George and I were working together well. We’re friends. We’re co-workers. We’d done a few things. And I think it may have been, “How about coming up with another character, you guys?’’ CATRON: This was for Brave and Bold. HANEY: Right. CATRON: In fact, it broke the initial beginning of the team-ups. HANEY: Yes, it did. Yeah.
  3. If there's one person who is an absolute authority on continuity, it's definitely Bob Haney. I guess we're going to leave out the very next thing said in the interview ? CATRON: And, of course, Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad. HANEY: Yeah, the first Teen Titans. CATRON: Right. Before they were called the Teen Titans. It was just a three-way team-up, apparently. HANEY: Right. I came up with the name.Teen Titans.
  4. What I don't understand is that people in support of BB 60 are not arguing some new novel concept - If you read the books it becomes clear the differences between 54 and 60 and why 60 is the First Appearance, just like with the Defenders. Why do people not consider Sub-Mariner 34 the first appearance of the Defenders ? On the CGC label it states a "Prelude to the First Defenders story" even though this book features a "Team" (which of course is a Team Up) of characters who later become the Defenders. Overstreet lists Sub-Mariner 34/35 as preludes to the 1st Defenders story with Marvel Feature #1 being the Origin/First Appearance. I assume this is an error that needs to be changed by all the dealers in the hobby, CGC, and Overstreet to correct this erroneous mistake ? Anybody who believes BB 54 is the 1st Titans I assume believes everyone else associated in the hobby is wrong on these books ? Btw these "Prelude" Sub-Mariner books are listed in the Marvel Masterworks:The Defenders Volume 1 hardcover, but I guess that just doesn't make ANY sense because publishers would never include prequel story lines in Compilations correct ? The fact is people don't like change for various reasons and because something may have been listed in a certain manner they become accustomed to it and fight against it without in many cases going through the books and looking at what really makes sense. Not everything listed in these guides is gospel because there are a ton of inaccuracies which I'm sure everyone can agree upon.
  5. But DC stated that they were a new team. Obviously new enough that the execs at DC hadn't even thought of the name Teen Titans yet. But they were more or less the same team, reintroduced a few issues later with a gimmicky name and maybe a new member. Still, the same team that was not only introduced but also noted on the last page that they were a new 'team'. It doesn't follow the formula of most team introductions but that doesn't mean it wasn't their first appearance. Again, no contest in my books. Have you read BB54? I think a good portion of the people who have been commenting on this thread haven't read either 54 or 60. Or the Teen Titans in general.
  6. All discussions go through circular reasoning and stuff gets repeated. I just can't understand why it's so difficult to grasp/admit that they first appeared in #54. Circular arguments without actually using the knowledge which has been laid out is a waste of time.
  7. is it that hard to go through the entire thread ? or even the first 10 pages ? or even go back a couple pages from the end ?
  8. Don't let your wife watch Man of Steel ?
  9. That from the TV Show V ? Looks terrible.
  10. incredible book - look at the colors on that !
  11. Just let it die man - Rehashing the same stuff for people who didn't read the thread is a waste of time. Even Sgt. Rock would want this to end at this point.
  12. Regardless of the final box office tally there's no question this is a serious win for Marvel - the movie was very well received from both viewers and critics and they are on their way to turning another 3rd tier character into a big name and all the ancillary revenue that comes with it. While I'm sure they had a number in mind to deem this movie an immediate success their main goal in making these films at this point seems to be as a platform to expand their product long term which they're obviously doing a great job of.
  13. Doubt that's the case - all the suits care about is $ and the stink of this one may taint them into working something out with Marvel.
  14. this review ain't bad either. This is a bad movie and you should not watch it. Full Review… | August 5, 2015 Liam Maguren Flicks.co.nz
  15. You guys make me laugh - from dead to red hot in a matter of weeks for a book that was and probably still is the best SA DC book.
  16. Can't believe how hot this book is now. Even Marvel people wanting a copy ? Not possible.
  17. twice what i paid for me 9.6 About time you turn that book into some fancy Marvels.
  18. Very cool movie - have to say I didn't understand a word anybody said for the first 30 minutes of the movie though. Little surprised critics loved it that much also.
  19. I agree and if you've actually been collecting these books for a while the market today is as crazed as it gets. I just don't know that I'd put BB 34 into the grouping of movie, speculation crazed books like we've seen in the past 10 years that were basically obsolete then became hot overnight. I know there aren't a ton of real DC collectors but this book has always been at least a semi key and features the first appearances of 2 core DC characters - I don't need a movie/tv show bringing the focus on the 1st Appearance of Hawkgirl (as opposed to Hawkman I guess ?) to tell me that the book is really cool and highly collectible.
  20. Is it any less of a "key" then Strange Tales 110 ?
