  1. +1. A bunch of people don't seem to understand the purpose behind these Showcase issues. Oh well carry on.
  2. As a big Marvel fan I will. Course you will.
  3. Nope, no more. Comparing my lower graded copy to my former 8.5, even my lower graded copy has just a hint of yellowing and not as pure white and grey as the 8.5 one. dang that stinks, I rem what you had to give up to give up to get that book. Hope whatever you sold it for was worth it from a personal collecting standpoint - you've had some incredible books in your collection.
  4. Lot's of people said the book was undervalued anyway, and it turns out they were right, it was. The TV show just gave it the boost it needed. Book was way undervalued(probably still is) and the show put attention on it and up it went. The show is also creating a ton of new fans of the character. Soon it will be SC22. The book is insanely undervalued compared to the rest of the market right now. Agreed on the SC 22. I picked up a 5.5 earlier this year for cheaper than I remember them being during the big run up years ago. They are now definitely undervalued IMHO but you're going to have to sit on them for awhile. Still the best book of the bunch.
  5. Great thread... that's a lot of work to do a convention. Makes you want to support comic guys who do travel even more cause it isn't easy either cost or work wise.
  6. Wow, it's at $70k now! Holy cannoli wow.
  7. The point that it left off at just sucked - really enjoyed it also and it was just getting really, really good. Hope it gets done this time (been rumors forever) and that it keeps up the same quality of artwork/storyline.
  8. Well good news, it's cheaper then the $999,999 that Wilson initially had it on his site , just make him a straight offer for 863,505 and you got quite a sizeable discount .
  9. I agree. And as long as incorrect statements continue to be made by you and others, I will correct them. So many things wrong with this statement. Nowhere in BB 60 does it say there are only "four charter members" of the group. Robin doesn't reference four charter members. Instead, he strongly implies that there are only three members by stating: "Teen Titans is a group I set up, after Kid Flash, Aqualad, and I helped the kids of Hatton Corners." The strong implication, consistent with the last panel of BB 54, is that the "new group" started with Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad. Robin doesn't even mention Wonder Girl, let alone as a "charter member." Your assumption of four original members is contrary to the continuity, where the first adventure and origin of the group in BB 54 features three members. Fans/scholars have long recognized, as the quotes I posted in the above posts evidence, that BB 60 featured the addition of a new member to the team. Exactly what I thought - magic Lima beans. Glad to know you are the protector of incorrect information since you continually make assumptions based on faulty information, ignore posts correcting these, and revert back to past arguments that are lacking in logic. But don't fret you are winning - everyone can see that. Have fun guys - I'm done and so should this thread.
  10. This thread has definitely run it's course - Better to just accept what was stated at this point (and there is plenty more in favor of 60) and let people make their own decisions. Arguments are coming full circle at this point with information that already was proven incorrect but it doesn't seem to matter, what does seem to matter is attempting to be right. I'm just trying to figure out how a group consisting of 4 charter members (aka an original or founding member of a society or organization) can be created with only 3 people and no mention of said group. Sounds magical.
  11. Sadly I am almost sure the owner of that book is posting in this thread to pump the book which makes me not want to defend it as a person like you who doesn't have a need to purchase either 54 or 60 at this point. The owner of the 60 on CC has been a contributor to this thread? Who? I'm just being pessimistic because that seems to be the norm these days on the boards with the pump and dump. Sounds like I'm wrong though.
  12. Sadly I am almost sure the owner of that book is posting in this thread to pump the book which makes me not want to defend it as a person like you who doesn't have a need to purchase either 54 or 60 at this point.
  13. I liked your prior post better because it highlighted the fact of how integral Wonder Girl was to the formation of the Teen Titans. It was a group created to appeal to kids and younger readers and the inclusion of a female character for teenage girls to follow also is a BIG deal. That is one of the biggest reasons why the Teen Titans were not created before Wonder Girl was included in that team and to say otherwise means you don't understand the back story that well. Also for those wondering about BB 60 being a dollar issue I'm assuming you haven't attempted to purchase one in the last couple years - a strong portion of the market already believes in the value of this book as seen by the prices it gets (which is pushed upwards due to it's scarcity). The book is already insanely expensive and just because people on the CGC board pantomime about it's importance I highly doubt it's suddenly going to jump leaps and bounds.
  14. Oh really ? Contrary to DC practice ? I guess these aren't new teams ?
  15. I'd like to see this panel also stating that it is definitively the 1st Appearance in the index. - BB 54 is included in Teen Titans compilations because it is a relevant story leading to the creation of the Titans as again a teamup prequel. Also again it is very common for prequel stories to be included in compilations and just because it is included doesn't mean that it is the First Appearance no matter how it's spun.
  16. Also if we are using that TTA 35 cover as reference for the 2nd Appearance and hence "The Return" (which also would signify the Ant Man was previously established) why does Showcase 59 state the "Return of the Teen Titans" ? It sure enough doesn't state that in Teen Titans #1 or TTA 36 which would be the 3rd appearances of both characters/teams. Should those books have had the "Return of the Return" in the cover blurbs ?
  17. Sorry you are the one mistaken in regards to that last panel in BB 54 - You really are confusing what this statement means to try and prove your point and continually keep posting it without knowing the back story - the fact it starts with "once again" should have told you that this occurred before in these Brave and the Bold books. The team ups starting with Issue 50 were considered new teams by definition and not something special just for 54 which you continually harp on. Don't believe me ?
  18. (thumbs u Anyone who proclaims to be shining an altruistic beacon of truth to set the record straight is kidding themselves... I don't believe that. I have nice copies of both books (I am a B&B collector, not a Teen Titans collector). I have read both books multiple times and proclaimed often that BB 54 is one of my favorite silver age books. I also believe that it is NOT the first appearance of the Teen Titans, 60 is. I have no intention on selling my copies or going after upgrades or buying more for future profit potential. More of these type of collectors then people think (I am in the same boat and enjoy both books for what they are). If you were a reader of the Titans you'd also realize that Wonder Girl was an integral part of what "we" consider the initial Teen Titans. It doesn't discount the team up in 54, which again is part of the Titans lore by anyone's measure, but people will value what they want in this thread at this point right or wrong.
  19. Nah, others did in prior pages. I just came to the discussion late and wanted to add my 2 cents. I suspect most people probably don't think this is a discussion worth having given how settled the topic seems to be with most fans, dealers, Oversteet, CGC, and DC. I know you enjoy being argumentative which is why this thread has turned stupid but you obviously can't believe what you posted here because you aren't that dense. Fans, dealers and Overstreet have always been lemmings and debates with evidence (and not just semantics about what you think should or shouldn't be important) are what have changed opinions - you keep bringing up "what dealers have on their wall" - that is the worst statement in this thread as dealers only care about what sells. If collectors have their eyes opened in regards to a book dealers will quickly change their stance accordingly because they will stock again what sells. Just because DC includes BB 54 in Titans compilations doesn't mean it's the first appearance. Like has been stated by both you and people who disagree with you it is part of the Titans storyline, however as a prequel to the formation of the group which doesn't occur until BB 60. Plenty of these archive books and compilations have included prequel books as part of the storyline and there is evidence as has been posted that DC considers 54 just being a teamup which you now convienently dismiss. You were right in that if you want the whole story BB 54 is part of it and should have stopped there, nobody disagrees with you but the rest you're just fighting an incoming wave.
  20. Welp. Guess DC needs to change their position to align with Overstreet and Comic Dealers.
