  1. Right, I mentioned in my question that the extra listings were nice. Are there any other benefits for selling comics you are aware of?
  2. Quick question for those who have had Ebay stores - is there a benefit to them aside from the extra free listings? I set one up this month to try it out and see if the savings in fees made it worthwhile, and discovered that there were no savings in fees at all for comics. The overview of benefits when you check the details before signing up seems intentionally vague so I was expecting some saving there, but nada.
  3. I would take the single 30k comic every time. For my PC, I like to include higher value books that my family can sell off if something happens to me. For purposes of selling, the 30k book will likely have a more stable value and worst case scenario would still be 20-25k after fees. Good luck getting 2/3 value out of 300 books at $100 each. I know it isnt all about selling, but when you are talking about really big value books that has to be a central part of the equation unless you are very wealthy. I am not.
  4. This is a great idea, but to the best of my knowledge there is no way to block sellers. I could be wrong though, and if someone knows please share the step-by-step for the process. And if they do not have the feature, Ebay should certain add it.
  5. Ok, thanks for clearing up what you meant when you said "earful." I get your frustration. You do you.
  6. Not sure what you mean by giving them an earful, but just in case I will put this out there as food for thought - the people you will be communicating with have no say in any part of policy, processes, or decisions. They are just taking the calls or texts and doing the best they can while being at the front lines and dealing directly with the customer base. Complaints are valid, of course, but I would default to polite mixed with an understanding of how stressful customer service work can be sometimes.
  7. Not sure what this has to do with how to crack open slabs that are sealed tight as a safe all the way around. People who want to continually bash CGC have a home in the ASM 252 Record Sale thread and the CGC Files Lawsuit Against Employees thread. Those threads seem like a better home for that comment.
  8. I assumed they were putting Pedro Pascal in the movie because the story involves him protecting a child while navigating through a bunch of threats.
  9. Change "feels responsible" to "is liable." People have feelings, companies have legal responsibilities. Such messages are vetted by a legal team that is not going to widen the liability of their client. I read the bottom line of the message as "go after the person who sold you or produced the fraudulent slab" but I am not up on legalese and I could be wrong.
  10. What I did was I put the screwdriver against the seam and gently tapped it in with a hammer until I got it in an inch or two. Once the screwdriver gets into the seam it works the same as with slabs that arent sealed as tightly and is no problem.
  11. Update - Got the invoice and two out of three books were bumped up to the Unlimited tier. This is my best case scenario for this group. I did some reverse engineering to guess the grades, but the numbers I use from GPA may be a bit different from what CGC uses so I will hold tight and wait for the official results to appear
  12. 3 book High Value submission Dropped off at FedEx - Jan 30 Arrived at CGC - Feb 5 Opened and SFG - Feb 8 Credit Card charged - Feb 8 Shifted to G/E/I - Feb 14 Nice size extra charge added to my credit card - Feb 14 Looks like something bumped to unlimited and I could not be happier
  13. They have a well-earned reputation for super strict grading, and most of their books are undergraded. That is a win for the buyer sometimes, but since people know this they tend to also overbid on books. At the end of the day I think the undergrading has a lot to do with protecting again returns (which is great), but it does not necessarily always mean a fantastic deal if it is in an auction format.

  15. Try living in Canada. I pay $125 USD shipping from CL for a dozen slabs, although that is not ground. The cost of a CGC submission which is ground both ways is over 80 CAD to get the books there, plus 150-ish return, give or take. 45 bucks in shipping charges sounds really good to me.
  16. Bought a collection of modern comics a couple of days ago that was originally from a local comic shop that closed down. It was weird seeing 10-15 copies of a lot of books. Some of the variants were pretty cool. These are not the most valuable ones, just the ones I like the most.
  17. I am annoyed with FedEx re my high value submission. My package was scheduled to arrive at CGC on the Fri just ahead of the glut of submissions, but they delayed it (for no reason) and it ended up being a part of a huge pile of books that went in the following Monday. It does not matter in the grand scheme of things, so whatever, but their estimated shipping times are a joke unless you are paying $$$$ for one or two day shipping.
  18. I have to admit I chuckled a bit when I first saw this topic since I never had any issues with this before. I just got 10 books from the CL auction for a crack and resub and I cant get two of them open due to be sealed all the way around like a safe. Both were recent encapsulations. The funny part to this story is another book from the group of 10 was also a recent encapsulation and it literally came apart in my hands like there was barely any glue there. I used my fingers to crack in completely open. This matches what happened with a recent book I submitted that came apart in my hands (they are doing an ME on that one). Seems like it is feast or famine right now with the sealant. Hopefully this works itself so things are consistent in the future.
  19. Looks awesome. First time in a while that I have looked forward to an MCU release.
  20. Sandman and a few other titles are absolutely amazing and right at the high end of comic book storylines. Cant say enough good things about that group. The rest come in handy if you have a wobbly table and are looking for something to put under one of the legs to straighten it out.
  21. Add Ebay user named b_3071 to the list of deadbeat buyers. He purchased the most expensive item I currently have listed for $950 CAD and they did not pay or communicate. This one was extra annoying to me. The comic he bought had the most watchers of all that I had listed, and two offers had come in that were within $50 of the amount I would take. I sent out offers to the watchers and he snapped up the book, possibly beating out others who would have paid. I can't be 100% sure of course, but I am pretty certain that this book would have sold by now. Instead, I was forced to do that ridiculous 4 day wait before I could cancel without penalty even though I knew fairly quickly (by non-responsiveness) that he wasn't going to pay. This is the exact type of user that Ebay needs to get rid of, and you should all do yourselves a favour and pre-emptively block him. Sorry for the ranty summary but this dude really stroked me the wrong way.
  22. This was the worst I have ever done in a grading contest (unless I get 5 bullseyes this round) but it was still fun. Thanks to Mike and his team for putting this together
  23. This is a new one. I was going through the shipment that got back to me earlier this week to start scanning and it looks like one of the slabs was not sealed, or barely sealed, prior to sending it off to me. It literally came apart in my hands. For perspective the shipment had 25 books in it and the other 24 cases were flawless. I think I cursed myself when I started thinking "I havent had an ME in a while."
  24. The colors all look much darker in the one that is "filled in." Interesting to see how much variation there can be with comics within the same print run.
