  1. Aww snap, just in time for Festivus: https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=35431 Amazon page: https://www.amazon.com/Seinfeld-The-Complete-Series-Blu-ray/dp/B0DLF65P9R?tag=bluraynews-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1&m=
  2. Just as a heads up for you guys who are in to this crossover stuff, they've also done Lord of the Rings, Walking Dead, and Forgotten Realms (R.A. Salvatore's characters as well as Baldur's Gate). I miss the old days of MTG, though. Mirage and the original Urza block were absolutely astonishing in terms of world building and mechanics. That and the 2016-2020 period, too.
  3. Icing on the cake would be if Arrow got their hands on this as their release of Mallrats was an absolute knockout. Really happy to see Dogma making it back into the public eye.
  4. Hopefully Bloodsport is coming at some point. Really don't want to import, tbh. In other news, recent haul from the current Kino fall sale(at $9.99 apiece!):
  5. With how well Amber Midthunder's character was received and cast one hopes to see Machiko Noguchi get her time to shine on the big screen (including the AvP comics getting reprinted ffs). Booked a ticket for Romulus on Sunday and am super stoked!
  6. If you have a local Barnes and Noble you might want to stop by as they are having a 50% off select Paramount titles. Scored this little beauty for $17.50! I also saw the Crow standard 4K (priced at $28.99), Mission Impossible Steelbooks (from the last Best Buy wave), Dragonslayer 4K steelbook, most Paramount DVDs, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan standard 4K, Reds (1981; standard blu), and Forrest Gump (Standard blu) to name a few others off the top of my head. Not sure when this promotion ends but I was pretty jazzed!
  7. Speaking of Kev Smith, Evening is getting a Blu-ray release! https://www.amazon.com/An-Evening-with-Kevin-Smith-Blu-ray/dp/B0DB6Z2DJN?tag=bluray-011-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
  8. Disney Insiders sent out a survey last week, hopefully with the new Sony partnership this is a sign of good things to come. Stay tuned... Also a major RIP to Redbox by the way. Unfortunately when Chicken Soup bought them in 2022 I knew this was coming (mostly because when they bought Crackle from Sony it became a desolate wasteland of B-tier tv shows, public domain, and Z-List movies). It makes me a bit sad though as I was using them like crazy in 2021 (at two bucks a pop to rent a movie it was soooo worth it) and saw Nobody, the Last Duel, and The Batman thanks to it (not counting the amount of rentals my family and I got from there circa 2008-2013). Guess it's just down to the local library now (surprisingly they keep up pretty well with new releases, so not a total loss). https://nypost.com/2024/07/12/business/redbox-shutting-down-24k-kiosks-after-parent-company-chicken-soup-for-the-soul-entertainment-bankruptcy-filing/
  9. The Stooges are finally making their high def debut! https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=34530 This is a limited edition so hopefully if it sells out a normal edition will come along. Usually Sony is pretty good about those things. Sony also brought a Twilight Time exlcusive title back in print so I'm hoping this means I can finally upgrade my DVD of Man from Laramie (1955).
  10. I noticed that the original trilogy Star Wars movies have seemingly gone out of print on Blu ray and 4K (except RotJ; i.e. they're not in stock at Amazon and prices shot up to forty bucks on ebay). Anybody have any details on this or could this mean their disc distribution is slowly switching to Sony? Seems odd that they'd do this right when the Disney+ shows just came out on steelbooks... EDIT: Not in stock on Target's website and the 4Ks are backordered on DeepDiscount, which is fifty-fifty on whether they'll come back or not. Standard blus are in stock on there and Walmart but the 4Ks definitely are a bit more on the elusive side.
  11. Chinatown (June 18th, will also include Two Jakes on BD) and La Femme Nikita (June 11th) scheduled for 4K releases: For those like me who weren't really impressed with Luc Besson's more well known offerings (i.e. Leon the Professional and Fifth Element) I highly recommend you see Nikita for it's perfect balancing act of emotion and well choreographed/slick action style (which may bring to mind later films such as Equilibrium, Underworld, John Wick, etc.). Heck, Besson has even tried to replicate this career starter for him twice. (Final edit I swear) Kino Lorber also has an excellent Easter sale going on, ends April 22nd : https://kinolorber.com/collection/march-madness-sale-2024
  12. Latest haul from the Warner Archive sale on MovieZyng
  13. Sorry, I nearly had a brain aneurysm at the thought of Once Upon a Time in America, Sink the Bismarck, or Planet of the Apes having the slightest possibility of coming back into print. Christ almighty I really do hope this actually means the possibility of catalogue pulls and/or Disney would contemplate Kino or Criterion plundering the vault. (p.s. I know this is wildly over optimistic but I'm still riding from the high of Once Upon a Time in the West's 4K being announced today. )
  14. Dark Passage is definitely my favorite of the Bogey and Bacall flicks. The tensions are definitely rife especially when he is hiding out in her apartment. Of course the iconic "escape" intro is also unmatched. For his solo endeavors I definitely loved In A Lonely Place and the African Queen. One thing I've always noticed is that Bogart always had female co-stars that matched his acting style and I've never quite seen that again (at least in succession), with Gloria Grahame matching him with wit and Katherine Hepburn matching him in independence in each of those films. As a co-star I could probably say the Roaring Twenties as being his best. Him and Cagney really let the scenes simmer with their characters' tension.
  15. Heads up, Target's got a buy 1 get 50% off sale. (Though if you were looking to order any of the James Cameron 4Ks unfortunately we're SOL ) Ends on February 14th.
  16. Were you expecting something else from a fake trailer?
  17. Not only is it tough to get discs at brick and mortar but also trying to sell them is impossible too unless you're selling the aforementioned boutiques or collector's editions of popular movies. I've recently started to see DVDs joining VHS tapes in free/dollar bins as well which is rather saddening. To sort of pile on to what Axelrod was saying about discs becoming collectable it is my hope they'll become like vinyl where they stay niche but have their own collector culture and come in the really nice packaging that Shout and Arrow have been giving their limited editions. Paramount, Universal, Sony, and MGM (albeit solely through boutiques for MGM/UA) have done a commendable job keeping their catalogue titles flowing.
  18. Not at all. I'm 24 and I've been collecting physical media for six years with my collection spanning from the 1930s (The Sign of the Cross, 1932) to the 2020s (Spider-Man: No Way Home, 2022). I hope that even if the corporations stop releasing their own discs in house somehow the boutique labels will continue to prosper. It's also a great way of future proofing your collection, just if you're looking to acquire 20th Century Fox titles be sure to do it now before prices really skyrocket! Also Barnes and Noble is currently having a 50% off sale on Arrow Video titles for you budding enthusiasts looking to amass your own theatrical catalogue. Also feel free to check out the Criterion thread by @NewEnglandGothic: And for Australian Boardies regarding the release of Disney titles:
  19. Yes they reprinted Aliens/Predator's original respective runs from their Dark Horse years as indicated by the following links: https://www.instocktrades.com/products/oct200680/aliens-omnibus-hc-vol-01-nelson-dm-var https://www.instocktrades.com/products/mar221139/predator-orig-yrs-omnibus-hc-vol-01-warner-dm-var To delve into specifics I'm specifically referring to the first AvP storyline with Machicko Noguchi. But I'm just curious as to why they stopped at just printing those stories when AvP is held in a relatively same regard?
  20. Potential home thread for discussion of the series and its subsequent entries...however! I was wondering why the original Predator and Aliens comics from '86 and '87 have been reprinted in their respective omnibuses but this series has been left in the dust? Does "Mahvel" simply not think of it as profitable? Or is there some other reason that I might've glossed over? I appreciate the help. -Skylath
  21. Also for those fans of James Cameron's work before he solely decided to make movies about blue cat people... True Lies, Aliens, and the Abyss are all getting the 4K treatment! https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=33549 https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=33561 https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=33560
  22. Shame to see Bird pass as I bought from him once or twice when I was an active member. Also he seemed to be really active in the community so it'll suck not seeing that Zappa avatar anymore. Really sucks to first see djpinkpanther go and now him. Major RIP to Sean/Bird/fedres
  23. He also does give some decent financial insights (again insights, not advice) and/or dialogues for those who appreciate some musings (and it's at least worth a gander since he was a stockbroker in the 2000s). I used to love watching his videos when I was a MTG player in 2016-2020.
  24. Just as a heads up for your Predator fans, Prey is also getting a 4K/BD/DVD release! Deets: https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=33102
  25. Calling Patrick Troughton fans: Underwater Menace is getting digitally reconstructed (Episodes 1&4) and is coming out on Blu-ray: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Doctor-Who-The-Underwater-Menace-Blu-ray/343680/
