Hi all, This is a book I am considering buying. It is grade but I’m wondering if you guys see anything here that could bump it after pressing and potentially a clean to the back. If you’d be so kind, gimme and idea where it’s at now (you can also prepare for the March Madness contest!) and if you think a press would help! Notable defects: lower right hand crease, wear to lower leading edge of cover, small tear near top staple, dirtied back cover and wrinkling at the bottom left of the back. Thanks everyone!

Undocumented Printing Error?
comicginger1789 replied to comicginger1789's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Its the shade of green...right? -
I feel like you could dominate and create an entire list that is just Golden Age books, especially certain artists (Baker, Cole, Ingels, etc) and genres (horror, sci-fi, etc.) that are more in demand and desire. I will throw out Hulk King Size Special #1. Technically there are some first appearances but to my knowledge none that people are lining up for. Purely a cover lover book.

Detached Centerfold
comicginger1789 replied to Conacon's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
As Avenged Sevenfold might say about a detached centrefold, set me free tonight. -
If buying in volume, I can see how Paypal would get annoying and costly. I don't buy enough to where it affects me and I also don't have any other means to acquire comics other than ebay anyways due to being 8+ hours from any major metropolises. So if I have to pay a tad extra here and there, I am okay provided I still get my comic fix.

Yeah, 8.5 with outside shot at 9.0
-
Need some closer up shots of corners and spine. Could be 8.5 or 9.0 or 9.2 or 9.4 or 9.6. Seems like a slight miswrap so I dunno if a 9.8 is on the table and unlikely 9.6 Range from 8.5-9.4 due to needing a few more pictures.

PGM silver surfer 1
comicginger1789 replied to silversurfer275's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
2.0. If the tape wasn't there (and provided the spine is attached mostly, it has 3.0 potential) -
8.5 from me. The corner at bottom of spine is the main detractor.

Is there a small stain or splotchy mark under the Thing's armpit in the top left corner?

That stain will hit it a bit. Safely, 7.5-8.0 -

My presence has been requested and granted! Couple spine ticks. 8.5 is what I would note as if I were grading personally.- 16 replies

comicginger1789 replied to gadzukes's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I am actually curious if CGC would put in a case for someone...obviously would be NG and say pieces of cover from ASM 1. LOL -

What would be epic is if the book these pieces came off of exists out there. Somewhere someone is missing them. It is time to reunite! Reuniiiittteeddd and it feeeelllllsss so gooood! -
I would also be 7.0 and then surprised if it were 7.5

My question is do they have value? Like maybe $10-20? -
Frank Miller's inspiration for The Kingpin?
comicginger1789 replied to Cushing Fan's topic in Comics General
Maybe I haven't read enough Kingpin, in particular pre Miller stuff alongside his, but for me, the character was always that way visually and behaviourally. I suppose he was a bit more lithe in Miller's run. Has it been said he based the behaviour off of Milton Reid? Perhaps his performance in a specific movie? Again, I would have to re read prior Kingpin stuff and then re-read Miller's to get a sense of whether he drastically changed the character. To me, he really did not do anything other than make him a bit more feared. I am intrigued to see what this research drums up!
