  1. Does anyone know if there is a way to find our if John Romita is going to be at any conventions this year? Or a way to contact him or the people who represent him about sending in a book to be signed? I have a book I would really like to have his signature on because I already have Stan's and Gil's on it and I want all three. Not looking to have witnessed or CGCed, just signed by John and perhaps a certificate of some kind (since I will likely be unable to do this in person).
  2. I am happy to see another ASM 97 with a Stan Lee sig on it Mine was signed 4 years ago and it looks similar to these. Maybe a little chunky. I also like the placement on these. And I think other posters have answered your questions. As for would I grade such comics, no. Unless the goal is to sell. I honestly think people would pay as much raw for these as they would grade by another company. Maybe you come out with a bit more but I doubt it. The person who wants these wants cool books signed by Stan. They will expect a discount if buying a book slabbed by someone not considered to be the top of the game. But if you just want to protect em, by all means, slab away
  3. Good catch! I totally missed that one. So maybe $40 for it, $5 for the Droids issues and $1-2 for everything else for OP to consider. Ebay be the best bet on the Veronica #28 or possibly here on the forums
  4. The Droids issue is a $4-5 book on a good day. Took me forever to sell one. Takes a special Star Wars fan hunting for that and they are often available online and sit for a while
  5. None of those are the rare Whitmans...this much I know. The rest are rough and $1 bin books at best. If someone offered me $20-30 for everything the original poster has posted, I would take and be very happy.
  6. 5.5-6.0 I dont see this getting a 6.5 or better due to the size of the piece missing. Maybe the press guarantees it falls in at 6.0 instead of 5.5 but that is the potential bump IMO. If this gets higher than 6.0 I would be pleasantly surprised if I were you. It sucks about that missing piece because I think if it were there, you have 8.0 potential in the book.
  7. ^ That for sure. I think it has 9.6-9.8 potential however there could be minor imperfections that book in hand yields but I think worst (like your other variant) would be 9.4
  8. Will do! I scanned the spine on this one again. Might be a 9.6, I see some wrinkles or minor imperfections. You are 100% getting 9.0 or better either way from what I can see.
  9. Yeah that looks like the tape culprit Although I that is says reattached with tape. Maybe at one point it ways (hence the small remaining piece and the fact that the spine is gone). 1.0 seems fair for this one.
  10. Nice! The back edges are off coloured a bit which might hurt overall but the front is sharp (although the pic is a bit blurry). Safely, 8.0-8.5 from me but it may be one that looks nice in hand and could pull 9.0
  11. Well we are all just self proclaimed experts I like all opinions...I like to think I grade in the ballpark but if someone sees a 6.0 when I see a potential 8.0, I like to know why. And I'd like to see what their 8.0 looks like.
  12. Thanks! I was safely calling it 4.5 so glad to know I’m on the lighter side so far.
  13. What other flaws lol. The interior and page quality are off-white at worst.
  14. Bought this off a boardie last year (thanks again and I forget who it was but I love this book!) Biggest flaw is the crease down near the bottom of the spine. Thanks all!
  15. I'll toss in a vote for Bill S. He has done some stuff recently that looks as awesome as what he did in the 80s. Case in point..
  16. Flaws include small tear to top edge of spine, some creasing to leading edge, and the center page has come loose at the top staple. Thanks all!
  17. Nice...I would have thought 6.5 would be the ceiling but clearly I would have been wrong.
  18. I am not a fan of Neal's current work. You mean to tell me you can hold up what he is putting out today (like that Cage cover) and it holds up to anything he put out in the 70's? I'm sorry but that Cage cover is basic bland today material. You could have told me it was Joe Blow generic artist that Marvel seems to attach to and I woulda said yep looks like it. I will credit Neal for continuing to work but for me that work does not hold up. Look at these and tell me I am wrong. And these are some of his "not as highly regarded and collected" covers.
