  1. First, I hope you didn’t pay the price of the sticker on some of those comics. If so, ouch. Second, total of what you have there barely exceeds $150 if that. Grading any of those will just protect but I don’t see a single issue other than the Tales to Astonish worth grading. If the TTA comes back 8.0 or better that’s worth it otherwise you should keep these raw. Several of them are dollar to five dollar books
  2. Jack Kirby on romance books also throws me off. I wouldn't say he could draw people the greatest. But some covers like this one still stand out because its awkward. Is she holding that vase or leaning against it? If she is leaning against it, the bottom where here feet are makes no sense...maybe the vase is just in the background and her hands are above her head making her appear to hold it??
  3. Certain artists are generally attached to a certain style or a certain genre because that is often times where most of their work is done. For example, Curt Swan I associate with Superman, Jack Kirby with superhero related stuff, Graham Ingels with horror related covers. However, most artists get their start somewhere else and do work in other genres. I am interested in seeing some of your favourite covers by your favourite artists when they worked on something other than what they were known for. For me, I have always loved this Western cover by Ingels. Neal Adams I always connect with Batman. I really like this issue of Tomahawk though.
  4. Yeah just a few more close ups would help. Seems 9.0 or better though.
  5. It looks very nice, the potential is there. But like with all 9.8 candidates, I fully expect CGC to find something that makes it 9.4-9.6. Hoping for a 9.8 is never a good thing. I would set hopes at a 9.4 easy and then you will feel good if its higher
  6. No I meant like modern books don’t blow up like classic books do. Sorry I wasn’t clear there
  7. "I don't know when the best time to sell is but I can tell you it was NOT back in 1983 when trading a Hulk 181 for a stack of baseball cards with a friend." - Most collectors feelings when thinking back about books they had
  8. Book seems to be worth around $350 without a signature. With it, I think asking an extra $100 at most is not out of reason. You could list here in the selling forum, reference the fact you had an old account and maybe sell some smaller stuff to gain a rapport before trying to sell something like this. Personally, this is a book I would sell as I have zero interest in it Is holding it worth it? Maybe. A show was in development but no longer is last I knew. If a show does come up you could see a small gain in value. However, I don't think it explode the likes of some more classic books from the Silver and Bronze Ages.
  9. Hey all, Only have a few pics. It’s a book I am interested in buying and then obviously pressing. Wondering what thoughts are on pre press and post press potential. Staples are attached, couple small spine tears and may be a very small half inch split at top of spine. I appreciate any and all thoughts!
  10. Is the cover attached? If detached, I have a hard time going higher than 3.0. As it sits, if attached, I am not much better haha, 3.5-4.0 at the best. The spine is very rough and there is that chunk missing.
  11. I was jonesing for another such competition. Better hit the gym!
  12. There is some browning on the back..dirt or stain it is hard to tell without better pictures. As is, I am calling it 6.0. If cleaning can help the back, possibly a 7.0. I wouldnt press and dislike when people do to try and even up a cover wrap. It was made that way, just leave it.
  13. Solid 4 with a far shot at 4.5 but that is dreaming I feel.
  14. I equate comics to hockey. In hockey you have a coach. He has to get everyone together to put a decent finished product on the ice that fans will like. You have your big name players (all star artists) and reliable vets and fill ins (good at giving a last minute story to help ya win). The coach deserves credit for structuring a winning team and the players for scoring goals or keeping them out or whatever their position requires. Stan ran a ship to success and made enemies at times perhaps deserved. The end result was greatness more often than not. A true team effort. Not one guy doing everything right. Not one writer writing epic story after epic story that carried the company. Not one artist drawing epic cover and splash page after page fueling success. Everyone together helping and carrying the team some nights but more often working together to produce a great comic.
  15. Tis why I love comics. Much can be left to interpretation. As for who deserves credit, I prefer to credit all involved from Stan to Jack to Artie to Joe to whoever delivered their coffee in the office. Well done for putting out a great issue!
  16. Sigh...I would trade most of my scores to have a score like that. For me, this was the issue that got me on the jungle train. I had one prior Cole issue (Outlaws 12) but saw this and I knew I had to get more. Most Cole stuff now seems beyond my range but I’ve been scooping up his Terrors of the Jungle stuff whenever I can. Maybe one day I’ll save up and try to persuade you to part with one of your Blue Bolts thanks for sharing em.
  17. If you are collecting comics and sharing pictures for the likes, you are collecting comics for the wrong reasons. When I post on IG, I do it to share. If I get a like, great. If I get zero likes, I don't care. I am still gonna post what I buy. People can follow me and look at my stuff...or not. I just do it to contribute and be part of a community. Just like on here. I post to learn, to speak my mind, to share opinions, to congratulate cool finds, to see cool stuff. If someone likes what I write, great. Thank you for doing that. If not, I am still gonna write. Again, if you are upset that @supercomicmastercollector69 got 100 thumbs up on his post and you only got 4, you are internetting wrong.
  18. Hi and welcome! Couple questions... 1. Are these to keep or to sell? If to sell, ASM 300 and maybe the Wolverine mini series (assuming it is the Frank Miller one) are the only things listed there worth value IF in higher grade. If to keep, you can grade whatever you want! 2. Cost can be expensive mainly due to shipping. Again, if selling, you could up the value of a book by $100-150 maybe more but you would likely put in $50-75 per book to get there. You have to decide whether it is worth the time. If you are unfamiliar with CGC, here is a link to authorized dealers in Canada who you could contact about sending your books and they can worry about sending to CGC if you do not wish to sign up and do it all yourself. https://www.cgccomics.com/services/dealerlisting.aspx?state=canada If it all seems too much, shoot me a message, I might buy some stuff raw (ungraded) off of you. Hope this helps!
  19. Welcome to the boards! I think before anyone can really answer much, you need to open up that trunk. If you have a copy of X-Men #1 or Avengers #1 and it is tattered and worn and maybe evens stained and pieces are falling off the cover BUT it is still all there and readable, yes you have a book that still has value. I would access the trunk and go through and take some pictures. Aim for the oldest stuff (anything with 10-15 cents on it) first plus some general pictures of what is there. This will give us here a chance to see what you have (generally) and the condition (take a pic of a rough looking book and some nicer ones). From there, myself and others here can give ya a grade, perhaps even a value and guide you to the best course of action so you and the comics are happy. Hope this helps!
  20. Flaws I see include a couple spine ticks, light scuffing or whatever at bottom of spine and that tiny edge tear and ding in the third and fourth pics. 9.0 seems the high end I feel. I don't know that a 9.2-9.4 would be allowed with those two minor flaws on the leading edge of the book. A shame because without them, it has 9.4-9.6 potential.
  21. Yeah 6.5-7.0 for me with that stain. I have a deep hatred for stains...unless they are faint water stains on an old book.
  22. I mean just wow. Don’t understand why that cover isn’t more talked about. Thanks for sharing and if that is your copy I am extremely jealous
  23. A couple personal Canadian variants. Someone might need to educate me if they have any more value than normal. Being a Canadian, I feel like I’ve seen these around throughout my life.
