  1. Welcome! In terms of the bags with the little strip of glue on them, they are usually fine. I personally don't love them because the glue can stick to other books when put in a box which is annoying. I prefer bags without and using a piece of tape to seal. As for which bags and boards to buy, I will refer you to an old thread that should help answer your questions and allow you to make a decision. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/262065-best-mylar-bags-and-backer-board-combo/
  2. For most valuable, I have a laundry list of your average "collection" fodder like ASM 300, a newsstand Spawn #1, some earlier ASM issues (no mega keys), Batman 251, Marvel Preview 7. I suppose one of these would be my most valuable. Really though, I don't have a comic that solely exceeds $400-500. I grew up a 90s kid collecting Silver and Bronze age stuff so really I have only been able to expand my budget in the last decade since I graduated university and have a steady job. As for favourite, every issue in my collection means something to me. I love my treasuries, I love my record comic combos, I love my Moon Knight, my DD, my ASM. I love my double cover Ms. Marvel and I love my random horror and war issues. I love a lot of stories and individual books for different reasons (the art, the story, both). I love my small Golden Age collection, mostly LB Cole stuff. Probably my top though is my ASM 97. Signed by Stan Lee, interior page signed by Gil Kane. Missed a recent opportunity to have signed by John Romita but I am making it my resolution to do that this year.
  3. Thanks all for the info on the artist and contents!
  4. So I know this is rarer, supposedly because of the lower print run. Does anyone have any artist info? I only ask because the cover really grabs me and I’m considering buying because this copy looks so clean. If anyone has other info on it, I appreciate it!
  5. My prize came in and thanks soooooooo much to @thirdgreenham for this truly epic lot of graded books. Some stuff I never thought I’d own (Umbrella Academy ish), my favourite cover from the best clone story ever told (ASM 149), and a signed Astonishing Tales 25, a book I have on my to buy list that I am happily scratching off. Oh and two more because of course he did. Thanks again!
  6. This may inspire me to read more....I like it. Like others, I have a lot of stuff in the PC that requires reading. Here is my first of the year. I have a bunch of these Red Sonja issues that I will be plugging through. This issue was good. I like Thorne's art but I am not sure why. It is kind of messy at times and I find he stuffs a lot into a page or panel. Maybe that is a good thing because it keeps your eyes looking everyone and seeing different things. The story was also interesting and leaves some mystery as to what might happen next to Red Sonja. Also, a question here. Does Thorne hit the cons? I wouldn't mind meeting him some day.
  7. I would not be surprised at all with 8.0-8.5. Very minor things take it outta the 9.0+ zone for me but it is a sharp looking book either way.
  8. 3.5 for me although I wouldn’t be surprised with a 4.0 Also can I have it?
  9. I am also around 3.0-3.5. Stains like that deter me like no other. I hate stains. Even the smallest water stain bugs me
  10. I will call it an okay year. It had the potential to be better but I made some rushed mistakes trying to sell some comics I bought and the end result left a bad taste. I wouldn’t say I lost out but I definitely didn’t gain what I was hoping. I consider it a learning experience moving forward as I continue to try to add to the collection. I would say I read more which was good. Still didn’t acquire a couple books but I have been ever patient and will continue to be so. I feel the right deal will find me in time on a couple key ASM books. The year before brought with it several big scores which I doubt can be topped soon but hey it’s a new decade and I am ever the optimist!
  11. Exactly! My ASM 97 is signed inside by Gil Kane (unwitnessed) and I had Stan Lee sign the cover (came with COA). It has everything I need to be happy and enjoy the book and I would not ever get it slabbed.
  12. Wondering if anyone is interested in this one. Flaws include a few small creases, and the bottom staple at the centrefold is loose as seen in one of the pictures. I am asking $295 shipped. Or I am open to a trade. Some stuff I am looking for includes Swamp Thing 1, Marvel Spotlight 2 and 32, Conan 23, ASM 194, Astonishing Tales 25, Werewolf By Night 1. Would be happy to work out a trade or partial trade. Paypal only for payment. Message me if interested or with an offer:) If you buy or trade from me and are unhappy, I’ll make it right. And if you need a reference just let me know! Thanks!
  13. I’m embarrassed to post my top 3 from the year because compared to these, it would be like putting copies of Turok 1s next to ASM 1s.
  14. 1 = 1.8-2.0 for me 2 = 2.5 because of the heavy browning and apparent brittle ness of the edges. 3 = 5.0-5.5 4 = 4.0-4.5 6 = 6.0 ish I don’t think anything is nicer than a Fine personally. 3 and 6 should be the highest and both in or close to the Fine range.
  15. This. Too nice to be in Fine range and it’s not nice enough for VF
  16. I’m at 7.0 with and without the sig. don’t think it factors in to hurting this one at all.
  17. I might win a prize when mine is opened for coolest Christmas card
