  1. CGC should be good enough to grade a book and have 95% of collectors agree with it or at least only be off by a 0.5 grade at worst. I have seen lots of books I felt were 8.5, and only got 8.0. I am fine with that. I have seen lots of books I felt were 6.0 and got 6.5. I am fine with that. I am not too happy seeing a 4.0 book grade 5.5 or a 9.2 books grade 9.8. These errors shouldn't happen more than handful of times a year. It is why grading at cons might result in some higher than normal grades due to time constraints.
  2. 6.5 range. The browning at the bottom and edge wear along the bottom of the front cover concern me the most. Great looking book though!
  3. Dust shadow or sun shadow on back. Light corner wear. These things have me around 7.0-7.5
  4. Upon reflecting on this film well after its release, it was just a blah film. I love Captain Marvel. His whole initial run is a mix of corny fun that evolves with Starlin's work on it. So for me, it was a bit of letdown that this film didn't have a bigger impact on the MCU. I thought Captain Marvel was gonna be set up to be a difference maker and that was not the case. I wish someone could have done a bit more with this character at this point because I feel like her origin is where you could have set up something great. Now, she just seems like a residual character who can show up and help rather than a character who can support more films. And hey, maybe that's fine. Does every Marvel movei character need a solo movie or spin off show? And I agree that this was one of Marvel's worst in the existing 22 or however many MCU films we have seen. I did not like Dark World or Iron Man 2 or 3 either. A couple others have been just eh, this included. Hulk was eh. Dr. Strange was pretty eh for me, even with some interesting visual aspects. Age of Ultron was eh...a wasted opportunity on a great character IMO. Everything else has been good or very good or freakin great!
  5. Yes there is a small crease mark there along spine. Didn’t know if that would kill it and make it a VF or if there was potential for slightly higher even with that.
  6. 9.8 potential. Upon going over some of my keys in my collection is appears to be far and away the nicest. I was checking to see if I had any by chance that would potentially be 9.4 or better and had a couple. Of the couple this one happens to look the best. My biggest question is the apparent miscut or whatever that has lead to a black top edge of the book (and no I don’t think it’s overspray).
  7. Always loved this cover, especially the yellow. Thanks for all opinions!
  8. I'd feel confident it is legit. Pretty darn sure it would get a blue label and not a green label at all. Problem with grading (and problem I would have as a potential buyer) as that I cannot view the sig. I would have no clue what it looks like. In which case, I would pass on buying such a book of someone, if that makes sense. I would want it raw, as you have it, so I could look at the sig, show it to friends and fellow collectors and perhaps one day get it authenticated.
  9. I hit stains hard. 6.0 is too nice, there are 6.0's that look like this without a stain. I am closer to 4.0 with that nasty rear stain...sorry
  10. 3.5 on the first, 4.0 on the second. If grade, I think the second grade a half point higher. The spine is nicer and there is no staining on back cover of second copy which I think helps it become the better grade.
  11. Post a pic of the book or tell us what it issssssssssssss! What others have said is true. It can be blue but may be docked a half grade for the unwitnessed sig. Although if it is a book already in Fine to VF condition, I doubt it gets hit at all and could keep its original grade.
  12. That hole in the cover kills it. Otherwise I might be at a 1.5 or 1.8 but I will agree with the masses on a 1.0
  13. Is that creasing/wrinkling on the back bottom right? If so, I am 6.5-7.0. Definitely seems like a press and clean could enhance this one though.
  14. A classic case of buy the book not the grade...cuz if you bought it looking for a 9.8, I don't think this is the truest representation on that grade. Great book though!
  15. 8.0-8.5 for me...far shot at a 9.0 Mainly due to the stress marks near the staples
  16. 8.0-8.5 Slight roll, small rust spot on top staple, couple small dings to reading edge.
  17. Apparently he is doing a private signing. Date on the site says books had to be in by December 7, but I talked to the guy and the deadline has been extended to January 5th. If anyone is interested... https://thecomicmonster.com/about/
  18. To rip off Aerosmith... "Hey...it's faded You had a comic book But now it doesn't look the same to me So faded You think its a rare book But I am here to tel you look You've got a faded comic book, real faded"
  19. My goals eh. Well, I do this on other threads so why not here? 1. Get a book CGC graded! Crazy that I am on here and do not have a book in my collection that is graded. I have owned several CGC books but promptly sold them for money for more comics. I have an opportunity to send in a book to be signed by John Romita, so I am going to send in two. One will have three sigs on it when done (and be left raw) and the second I have to figure out which issue to send. Exciting times going through my older ASM books (oh and it will def be an ASM book)! 2. Purchase ASM 50 or 129. Still need a mid grade copy of each within affordability. Heck even a solid lower grade would suffice. Has eluded me for the price for a couple years now. 3. Complete some runs. I am close to the Marvel Feature run from the 70s featuring Red Sonja. Same with her solo series from the 70's. I also want to complete some other oddball titles like Black Goliath, Champions, Inhumans and Supernatural Thrillers from the 70s.
  20. I’d say that’s a nice 5.5. There is some writing or something there indented in the title that I think hurts it.
