  1. I would press anything Fine or better. It seems to add at least 0.5 of a bump. A worn 2.0-3.0 book though usually has the type of wear that cannot be pressed out, hence why it is in this range. Sure, there are examples of 2.0-2.5 books getting a slight bump but I feel these are the types of books you can look at and get a sense of whether it helps or not. For example, a 3.0 with severe spine roll would benefit but a 3.0 with a lot of stress marks and colour breaking creases would not. And really for $5-10 to potentially get $50-100 or more in value out of a book, what have you got to lose? I wonder if pressing eventually gets a price bump for the amount it improves a book. I have seen some wonderful press bumps lately on some big books. It will be interesting to see how pricing of this method changes in the coming years.
  2. I’ll straight up purchase them if they are stuff I want and the price is right!
  3. ^What @faster friends said If the book is in the VF range, I would say it bumps it 0.5-1.0. So if the books looks 7.5, I would say the piece missing bumps to a 7.0 at least.
  4. 3.5 for me I think it is nice enough to warrant this.
  5. That Archie #50 is epic...however, I have always felt that speech bubble was horribly placed. Makes it seem like it is coming from the phone....
  6. ^ Agreed Buy the book not the grade...or what the grade or plastic says. Buy it for the love of what is inside and you can never go wrong.
  7. How much is a page worth? As a collector, I cannot ever imagine paying for just a page unless it was something extremely rare and unlikely for me to ever own. Then again, I guess for some owning Hulk #181 has become that. #180 is still obtainable but again, get that graded and you just have a crappy cover to look at and will never see the panel inside again.
  8. ^Couple questions (apologies for joining your journey late) 1. What is the error? The fact they list page 10 twice? Is that really an error or just them stating the same info twice? 2. How many times have you submitted this page? 3. Why? You can purchase the issue the ad is in for less. Granted, if slabbed you dont see the ad so I guess you having this makes some sense for displaying purposes....
  9. So people do care? Is the rarity level as high though? Personally, I think the 30/35 cent variants are much neater than a barcode but hey...one collector's opinion. I sit corrected and appreciate the knowledge (I havent purchased a "new comic" ever so this info is helpful)
  10. I understand that back in the day, you had newsstand copies with the barcode that were on public display racks in convenience stores and the like. I get that issues without the barcode were sold direct to consumer. Not sure why there would ever be a premium on one over the other. It is neat and neat to know that a newsstand copy survived and perhaps is higher grade given the "life" it has lived. I just dislike the use of the term as a supposed selling point. For example, on a newer comic like ASM #606, I have heard people call it a "newsstand" copy. To my knowledge, this issue only has one cover and it has the barcode (there are variants and stuff yes but I am talking the regular cover). So calling it a newsstand copy really doesn't differentiate it from a non-newsstand copy because to my knowledge, they all have the barcode. Someone correct me here if I am extremely wrong....
  11. Unless the comic comes off the press and there is a CGC rep there holding the bag and case ready to catch it, I don't believe you can get a 9.9 or 10.
  12. Thanks for all opinions! Wondering what the slight tanning to the back edges would do to this one.
  13. 7.0-7.5 range mainly due to colour loss at top of the book.
  14. Back has some funky shading and discolouring so I’m at 3.5. Front is strong.
  15. 5.0-5.5 for sure. Assuming spine isn’t split anywhere either. May even eek out a 6.0 on the best of days.
  16. Look it’s a cool book. But for $5000? Pretty sure even an error of an actual key with say multiple covers wouldn’t sell for that much. Say ASM 129 with 4 covers. Probably the only one. The fact that the type of error is rare means nothing to me. It’s a cool story book that I’m sure someone would drop a couple hundred maaaayybbbe $1000 on at most just to say they have it
  17. My response to the mega rare Marvel DC book Hi, Just wanted to let you know that I am interested in this book. However the fact that you don’t offer free shipping and that you did not get the interior signed by Stan Lee upsets me. As it sits, I cannot turn a profit on this book without a Stan Lee signature inside (I would stand to make $2.2 million I think). I also don’t like the fact that I can’t read the misprinted comic inside prior to selling it for my own profit. Lots of things taking a way from this great book, it’s a shame. Regards, Eric
  18. 5.0 with the general spine and edge wear. Mayyybbbe 5.5 Fine copies can run for $50-60US so if the $90 was USD you overpaid a bit...
  19. Pretty sure thats the entire print run right there I am actually someone who does not collect multiples of the same issue. I get loving a cover so much that you want more but for me, one is enough. If I get doubles I always sell the lower grade and continue to collect. That being said, if I had to collect multiple of one cover it would be this one. It ranks up there as one of my all time favourites. Something about the all black and purple lined coffin just does it for me.
  20. It is an indented crease or wrinkle. I have them on books I own. A press will help make it appear less visible but it will still be there.
  21. I think at worst, 4.5 but its nice enough to be 5.0 for me. I think whoever graded it 3.5 greatly undergraded unless there is a cut coupon or something inside.
  22. The first comic I had was this (given to me by a babysitter): The first comic I bought was from a back issue bin in Kingston, Ontario and it was this: The first comic I bought new:
  23. 4.0 To much tanning or whatever on the back and enough other minor wear to keep it from getting higher.
