  1. I was super bummed after getting my shipment of full-backs mainly because of the bendability. I would be fine with a brown back and a thinner board, but there is little difference between the full and the half-backs anymore. I have always been baffled how they are the only ones providing these critical supplies to the community. I know there are some other Mylar bag distributors, but it is always hard to get acid free boards or paper products. E. Gerber used to offer these great acid-free boxes that they sourced, but they stopped offering them around pandemic times.
  2. I have been beating this drum for awhile. These aren’t thousands of mistakes. That specific banding I have been able to get off with a micro cloth and a lot of elbow grease. I believe it to be caused by the awful bags they put them in and the vibrations from shipping. You can typically see the same pattern on the bag.
  3. This week I got back 8 books that I have had to resubmit four times for the same mechanical errors / damage. All but one are returning for a fifth time with the same problem, except one now has a new additional problem of liquid damage inside the case. Truly a new low in the quality decline I have experienced since fall.
  4. I just received my submission of 8 books that I have had to return four times since October for astoundingly bad ME problems. All but one are going back for their fifth ME submission. I have never received anything other than the occasional case crack or Newton Rings from CGC up until this year and now since October, I have received a mere 6 out of 50 submitted books that did not have significant enough issues to be returned. Six out of 50. Each of the six books of course still have Newton Rings, they are full of specks and dust or have some sort of scuffing or scratch on them - just not the extreme majority-of-the-case as the others do. Two of these I had to share as one was also returned with liquid residue inside the case. The other is the standard scuffing pattern present on almost all cases, and many times envelopes. So that's it for me. I have not the time, money or desire to contribute anything more to a company that just provides false assurances and continues to lower their standards while advertising excellence. It is clear the extent of the new leadership's abilities over the past year was to implement a canned customer feedback system that I am sure is being inundated with so much anger that it nullifies any ability to take action on it's information. Overworked CS reps in a thankless job scrambling to compensate for other departments so all they can do is hold firm and offer token gestures of compensation that don't even materialize (still waiting on my $100 credit after charging my card twice). That would be plenty but receiving a book back with one of the most impactful environmental factors for a collectible's condition introduced to it from the team trying to fix their own problem for the fourth time? Name a business that operates with as much disregard for its customers, its product and the planet. My membership runs out next week and I happily turned off auto-renew. I'm planning on setting up a raw collecting life without CGC and am excited to not have to spend any more weekend mornings away from my family scrambling to make up for basic levels of business competency that this company is at best purposefully unaware of, or at worst legally negligent of, all while trying to somehow negate the horrific environmental impact this company is generating with said incompetence.
  5. I was able to get signatures witnessed and dropped off with CGC on Friday, but I'm wondering if it makes sense to bring in books I have been eyeing to get graded to drop off on Sunday. Is CGC accepting submissions on Sunday? I keep thinking I see deadlines for Saturday night but can find nothing definitive. Thanks!
  6. Agreed on the flow which is the concern. Had I known the price was not going to apply I would have contacted them first to try and get it, or at least understand if I was misinterpreting it. Thanks for the info on what it says now. Is there anyway you could post a screenshot of that? Just to be able to see and reference that “ad” but also that the pricing fluctuates? Really appreciate the reply and info.
  7. Hey, I'm hoping the community here might be able to track this down. Recently my membership to CGC was up for renewal, and for about a month prior I had a new item in the login pull down menu and a tile on the "My Submission" landing page (where the new tracking tool is now) that was asking me to auto-renew and save a percentage off. I can't remember the other tiers, but as I was thinking about upgrading to elite in order to keep the discounts this year after the price changes, and that was for $30 off from $279 to $249. There was a red background graphic that listed the crossed out prices and had the discounts underneath them. When I finally deciding to upgrade, I clicked on that ad and was taken through a workflow to upgrade my membership that ended up charging me $279 after everything was submitted. I reached out and am working with customer service who just came back and said that the "Marketing department confirmed that we have never had a promotion at that value". Since I upgraded, all of those reminders to renew have naturally gone from my account and they are asking for a screenshot to prove this. I do not know if the recent price changes have taken this promotion down, but I thought I would ask if their is anyone in the community that is close to needing to renew their membership and can see this on their "My Submissions" page. Would you be kind enough to upload a screen shot it here for me? Thank you so much! ~Darin
  8. Thanks! Do I just mark the prescreen submission choices on the packing slip then with the grade selection if they are listed in the same tier as others? Anything specific needed to designate them?
  9. That's definitely the concern, I just was curious if anyone had any experience either way with it. Making the adjustment and then getting hit with a green label, or more realistically sending it in to the "pros" to get pressed. Do they make that obvious adjustment prior to pressing to not damage the book? I appreciate there are no guarantees in life, but as I have seen this defect on books before, I was hoping somebody may have had some experience on the best way of fixing it. Although it does seem like everyone else doesn't suffer from the same flavor of OCD and would be fine staring at that dimple behind a 9.6 slab.
  10. I certainly would not be able to stop kicking myself if it came back as a 9.6 and if I just leave it ungraded I am worrying I am risking further damage, namely that it breaks the color on the dimple. I appreciate the response, but doing nothing has been crossed off the possibility list - hence the post.
  11. I am prepping a fairly large shipment (as I suspect are a lot of members right now) and has a couple questions. If I create one huge submission, can I split that into a couple of shipping boxes so I am not sending more than 40-50 per box? Also, if I have say 30 modern books without pressing, can I designate 25 of them for pre-screening or do I have to make different submissions for prescreens if I have the same tier on the same submission? Thanks for your help in what is no doubt a busy time.
  12. I have a higher value modern book that is pretty flawless except the bottom staple prongs overlap and it has created a small dimple in the pages and front cover. I want to “uncross” the staple before sending it to try and get it pressed out, but don’t want to do anything that would be considered restoration. Does anyone know if that would be considered restoration or if I could send it in for a regular (not quick) press and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks!!
