  1. I didnt check when I got it..I put my trust in them It was also number 52..no mention of cover oxidation when I bought it and number 123 loose at staple ..which I dont remember seeing but that can be very subjective If I do buy from them again I will make sure to check everything
  2. The difference here being... the grades that I offered were on the same books/same grades that MCS sold me just a couple months before. Any comics I send to them that I bought elsewhere I just trust their grading as I don't know otherwise. The main problem here is not the downgrading, it's the oversight of faults that they should have seen before they sold the first time around..fairly major faults that I have become accustomed to seeing them.. document before I buy. For example, I would not have bought issue 60 knowing it had a detached centerfold.
  3. Of course Ebay would say it doesn't violate their policy...they make money off fraudulent items as well as contraband, so why would they care,,they are incredibly corrupt
  4. Yeah, I am going to end up doing that myself..I usually never send in silver/bronze raws to MCS ..had a weak moment
  5. I understand the variance in giving specific grades WRT different people but to miss a detached centerfold , cover oxidation, and loose cover seems odd..especially since these are commonly listed faults on MCS grading (implies that the graders are especially trained in spotting these faults)...plus from what I have been told by MCS, they are supposed to be rechecked before final listing
  6. I have been buying/selling from MCS for five years now and for the most part have been very happy but something just happened that is making me question using them again I bought all of these in the past year from MCS. When I get them I open them up to check their condition and then put back in the bag and place them in my boxes. Last week I sent these back to sell (I bought all of these MCS). When I bought these from MCS, none of them had the faults that are stated now (and MCS did not state these faults) and my grading was based on their previous grading I asked MCS to return them UGH, first CGC let me down .. now, MCS
  7. oh I see..my bad...GPA comics has one sale of it for 200 in Jan, 2023
  8. last sale on GPA comics was 45. You cant necessarily project FMV from sales years ago. This is the 'trendline' for sales of this issue..the rise in 2021 was due to the pandemic , in which most collectibles rose in price due to overinflated demand. But like most comics the bubble burst as the pandemic ended. If you go to gocollect, you can see an auction for 100 in sept 2023 and then an auction for 45 in dec 2023 (not a good sign) If you follow a statiscal trendline from 2021 and on (a downward sloping line) ..you probably have your asking price between 50 and 75 ...but you can ask anything you want and go into negotation..just dont be surprised if someone wont pay more than 50 for it.
  9. well, at least it will be streaming soon...I will wait till it's free on some platform though
  10. Yep...out of fear of being redundant...I will not say .."of course, employee theft ..imagine that"
  11. In the past week I decided to unslab over 20 of my books ..my silver age ASM as well as some signed copies of moderns. I dont know what to say..I have become tired of looking at the plastic holders...but ones that I dont feel comfortable unslabbing I sent off to be sold...these are mostly 9.8's that are signed. I unslabbed a few signed SS CGC because they were lesser grades. On one of them was ASM 55 (Pat Gleason cover white drawing over black background). It got a 9.4 because CGC said it had a water stain on the cover...there is no water stain..it's just how the white ink is juxtaposed over the black ink appearing like raised surfaces (similar to what water can do to paper)..especially dead center (I have other copies that have the exact same effect).... Just one more insult added to injury. I used to really believe in this company ( at one time I had hundreds of slabs)..oh, well, I will live
  12. I recently had a potential 9.8 Something is Killing the Children 1 sent in for signing...it came back as a 8.5 with a very noticeable defect on the back cover..looked like someone had crumpled the spine causing three radial bends thru the back cover (did not send to CCS). I have sent in hundreds of books and I know how to send them thru the mail so they aren't damaged..never had any damage from USPS before this. There is no way this type of damage could have happened inside the parcel..had to happen once removed. There is no accountability from CGC...I will never use them again... although this was the only time it has happened, this was too big a screw up by them for me to want to go back.
  13. You can try the 9.8 CGC strategy, in which you send in loads of books that have potential 9.8 grading ..then sell the 9.8's. I tried this with my entire collection of 2000 books. I screened them all with my own eyes and I sent in probably about 250 books, got about 150 graded 9.8 and sold them all on MCS. I made about 500 dollars over cost of entire 250 books (the book's initial cost and grading /shipping etc)..so not too bad. These were all books that would not be allowed to sell on MCS individually Raw. It was also fun going thru the process. then .... You can sell in lots (on Ebay and MCS) for those comics that you can't sell individually (time consuming and MCS won't allow too many of these too quickly...and MCS takes a longer time to grade and post these for auction)..I did this.... you will lose money over your initial costs of buying them but you will recoup more than selling entire boxes at once. oh and BTW, MCS states they have minimum grades for sales of raws BUT they are flexible with this rule ..especially with certain titles
  14. So what if you cut holes in the cover( edges) to remove any color touchups, is that trimming ? And would you need to rough up that edge to make it not trimming?
  15. 1..not surprised at all, I understand that mistakes happen, but I have also never seen CGC take accountability for a damaged book (from the postings of others)...scanning the book on arrival could be a way to mitigate the accountability but I am guessing that with the volume of books they do, they have no incentive It does make me wonder (moreso) about the ASM 55 Patrick Gleason cover (brand new, never opened plastic on my part) that should have been a 9.8 SS (by Gleason) but for the water stain it had in the middle of the cover at grading that knocked it down to a 9.4...go figure I'm just feeling it's not worth it to pay over 150 dollars (with shipping) to get a signature and encase in plastic, anymore (I would rather just meet the artist in person now and keep the comic raw, much more satisfying and much less expensive). Even if it isnt CGC's fault..the service is too expensive anyway and rarely does it add to the value of the book (and too many things can go wrong in the chain of custody)..oh and not to mention the wait times on some of these..terrible
