  1. Yes, please send the message with Marcello Vaccari's Facebook profile address, either to dc-archiv@gmx.net or as a private message here. I'm not that good with social media so I appreciate every help I get. In the meantime I did a thorough research on the website and managed to find 71 stories which were either created completely new or reworked from an US story. What I also noticed is that one story written by Bill Finger seems to be not reworked but original. I checked the splash pages of the US stories where I suspected this story to be from, but I haven't found it. I will ask Mr. Vaccari if he has a second source just so I can cross-check the information and not just have to believe what's written there. But in general I really am glad to have found the information at all. So thank you, vaillant, for making it possible to solve another mystery about the DC stories !
  2. So, exclusive Batman stories too ? For over 40 years now I'm into DC Comics and the surprises still don't end - unbelievable. Vaillant, thank you for all your information. WIth what you wrote I was able to open a door into an universe where I still have to find out just how big the amount of exclusive stories is. I hope somebody has a listing with all those stories. If you can point me to the profile of Marcello Vaccari, I would ask him if he has such a listing. Maybe an incomplete one, so that I don't have to start from zero. La gatta - isn't she a beauty ?
  3. This had nothing to do with you. I had the same problems three weeks ago. The boards made some changes which resulted in log-in difficulties.
  4. I can confirm that for Germany. If one of you travels to Germany, you'll find lots of Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck in super markets or other places with magazines but no super-heroes. They can only be found at railroad stations.
  5. Thank you for posting ! That's what I want to achieve, to get more experts and their knowledge to find out what happened in 1968. Let's see what @vaillant has to add. Since I only know about DCs, the story about Mexico and Gwen were new to me. I know about the German DCs from the 80s and the "og fredsbomben", but I thought that were the only foreign language originals. I wonder which success would have waited for a resurrected British or Australian Kara in the 80s. Archi
  6. O.K., let's get to the facts: In the first half of 1968 somebody at DC Comics wrote an article which was published in Jimmy Olsen #113. The article says: This means to me: - Artists from Italy created new Superman stories. - These stories were published by publishers in Italy. - These stories were NOT published in the USA. Does anybody know something about these stories ? If you live in Italy and have a collection of italian Superman books from the 1960s, please contact dc-archiv@gmx.net Also, if you're Italian and know which publishers in the 1960s did publish Superman books, please get in touch. I asked several Superman experts, some knew about this but - although owning quite some italian Superman books from that time - never found a story which wasn't a reprint of an US story. If you read this text twenty years from now, please get in touch. Thank you. Bye, Archi
  7. Hi, does anybody have a listing, where all published strips are listed from the start up until the end of the strip ? Searching the forum didn't bring any results. Bye, Archi
  8. @L.E. Gill Thanks for your information about Impulse #10 ! Also for the source of #3. As you have seen from the list I sent you in March, I had it listed in the Best of '95 Set, but never thought of it being the DCU Variant. Confirmation of the Robin #14 Newsstand issue ? I can only offer this: http://atomicavenue.com/atomic/IssueDetail.aspx?ID=629975 Bye, Archi
  9. Since up to now there wasn't a picture existing of Impulse #3, we only had the entry in Jerome's list. Now this entry is confirmed with a picture: Now the only book without proof to exist is Impulse #10. If somebody can shed some light how this issue made it into the listing I would be very grateful !
  10. It was, but not as a Walgreens. Thanks for the pictures !!!
  11. your question about the Amalgam books which have a blank UPC box: There are six issues with Blank UPC boxes: - Amazon #1 - Assassins #1 - Doctor StrangeFate #1 - JLX #1 - Legends of the Dark Claw #1 - Super Soldier #1 They came with the Amalgam Comics Coll Set #1 and #2, which were released in 1996. --- Amalgam Comics Collector's Set (1996) No. 1 release date: 26.06.1996 includes: JLX #1, Doctor Strangefate #1, Legends of the Dark Claw #1, and a Skybox trading card. No. 2 release date: 24.07.1996 includes: Amazon #1, Assassins #1, Super-Soldier #1, and a Skybox trading card. --- At this time, the standard way of marking books included in sets with the "DC U" Logo was already introduced, so don't ask me why these books don't have the DCU instead of the blank boxes. Well, the obvious explanation may be that these books weren't DCs, but Amalgams. So marking them with "DC U" was not possible. Bye, Archi
  12. Hi, a few years ago a boardie had the great idea to start a thread about the strangest place you ever went to buy comics from a private seller. I'm not able to find this thread anymore so I hope you know what I'm talking about or even have saved the link to this thread. It was very entertaining to read. Keeping his fingers crossed: Archi
  13. @BuraddoRun Wow - great find ! I am looking for a copy in this condition now for years. Congratulations !
  14. The article was a page in issue #113, nothing spectacular (except for what I quoted), probably written by E. Nelson Bridwell who was assistant editor at this time. It's basically just "The title's name in Spain is ..., the title's name in Norway is ..., the title's name in Italy is ..." and so on (with some cover pictures).
  15. Even after forty years of digging deep into DC stories, there still are surprises coming up. While checking the reprints in "Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen" #113, I read the article about foreign editions behind the stories and had to read the following words (quoted): ---start--- Italian fans have the chance to read some stories American readers never saw. The publishers sometimes bring out brand new Superman tales, illustrated by Italian artists. ---end--- The year was 1968 or before. Does anybody have more information about this ?
  16. Getting information about promos is a difficult task, I can confirm that. But it's also very interesting to find out what exists and more important why it exists. I do not collect those books, because I live too far away from any shop or convention to be able to find these books (and space is limited - but you know that already). But I started to collect any information I can find about the books which relate to DC. In 2010 I stopped because I realized just how many books there are, but in 2015 I got hooked again and since then I meticulously file every bit of information I can find about these books. Unfortunately there are not many comic book collectors who are interested in exchanging information. I regret the most that I didn't contact Earl Davis when he still was active on the boards and I wasn't able to find anybody who is in conctact with him. At least I was able to merge other listings with mine, but even in 2023 with so much knowledge available there are so many books left where you can't find any information anywhere. So the quest continues.
  17. Yeah, I do have this listing but the promotional books listed are about 10% of what exists regarding DC. I was told that the listing of the promos is just being created. Thank you for your answers !
  18. Does a listing exist with all these books ? The one I got from Paul does only cover a fraction.
  19. Sorry for being shamelessly off-topic, but did you already start with Flash post-crisis ? If not, are you interested in a full run Flash #2 to #177 including crossover books, located in Germany ? Archi
  20. And another incorrect entry in comics.org: In the reprint of LotDK #40 there is not a new page added between the original pages 5 and 6, as stated in "Batman: Dark Legends", but between the original pages 24 and 25. Man, I know why I create my own data base. On to the missing pages in Swamp Thing ... Sigh ...
  21. Ah, I checked only #33 on comics.org and not the Trade (they're often blank in their pages when it comes to HC/SC/Trades). Thank you, Lazyboy ! (You don't live up to your name !) But it should be mentioned that the entry in comics.org is not correct - page 04 is not "expanded into a 2-page spread", page 04 is just one half of a two-page picture.
  22. I first checked comics.org to get the release date before going into all issues and was surprised to find the mentioning of #82 there. Then I checked my copy to make sure the reference was right and it was. You're welcome !
  23. Hi, while counting the pages of "Batman: Collected Legends of the Dark Knight" I found out that #33 of the original series is missing a page. Page 04 of the book is the left side of a double pager and the right side is missing. The trade does have the right side included. The page numbers in the standard comic book do not show, as in other books from DC, that something is missing. The page numbers in the Trade were replaced so that the numbers are continuous through the whole book. So, if you want to be complete with this series, you need a copy of the reprint. I checked the internet if this information can be found somewhere else but came up with nothing. If you find this information elsewhere then please post the link here. Have fun ! Bye, Archi
