Agreed. I do the same with my long boxes stored in my house, not a storage container. I've got them simply labelled A to Z, then my 27th long box is labelled AA, then BB and so on. Only I know what is in each box and if I forget, I can reference an encrypted master list of what is in each box.

Picked up a lower grade copy of CAP #117 from my local comic shop. It was a deal I couldn't pass up.

Umm...maybe Danny Dupcak?

Merry Christmas, everyone. I opened my CGC Secret Santa gift this morning which came from @JazzMan His attention to the gift-wrapping itself was amazing (as noted in a previous post). The gifts themselves were spectacular (sounds like I'm describing marvel comic titles LOL), exactly matching what I'd like to receive. Several Bronze Age SUPERMAN and ACTION Comics along with a 2024 MARVEL calendar and as a bonus, a Peanuts Cookie Tin that lights up and plays the Christmas Peanuts tune when you press the button! My wife and I actually love it. So thank you Jazzman, for the incredible gifts you sent. Merry Christmas to you and your family. CAMPER49 aka Brian -

Well, I finally found the time to open the box that arrived for me earlier in the week. I thought it was a box of comics from mycomicshop that I ordered because Canada Customs nailed me for $17...I always have to pay customs fees on mycomicshop orders. But lo and behold, it was a box from my Secret Santa! Upon opening it, numerous presents were present (pun intended). Check out the quality of the gift-wrap, quality of the ribbon and the professional job of gift-wrapping. I have never seen gifts so painstakingly wrapped so that no flaws in the paper, ribbing, etc. are showing. And look at the way the wrapping is folded over...never seen this before either. If my Secret Santa took this much time and effort to wrap my gifts, I can't wait to see what they are. Looking forward to opening them. An early "thank you and Merry Christmas" to my Secret Santa! Why Adventure Comics was canceled for so long?
CAMPER49 replied to Coverdeath 's topic in Comics General
I can only give you my opinion on this. Maybe others can chime in here and correct me if I'm wrong. Adventure Comics underwent several format/character changes in the 1970's...Supergirl to Spectre to Aquaman to Superboy. In 1978, they changed the format to a Dollar Comic showcasing popular super-heroes (including the death of Earth II Batman) as part of the DC Explosion (#459-466). Poor sales occurred during 1977/78, partly due to the recession, inflation, rising printing costs and blizzards(!), referred to as the infamous DC Implosion thus several titles were cancelled and some staff laid off. Adventure survived this implosion (Detective Comics was almost cancelled!), but they changed format again to regular size and changed the characters to Starman and Plastic Man (467-478), while jacking the price up with 475 and including 8 extra pages of story starring Aquaman (475-478). Dial H for Hero starred in 479-490, then the series was cancelled (Feb 1982). Seven months later, it was revived with the release of 13 issues that were digest sized reprints, and not all reprints came from old Adventure Comics stories (491-503). It was cancelled again. Around this time, due to mediocre sales, DC and Marvel started distributing their comics through comic shops (direct sales) as opposed to the spinner racks in dime stores. So my guess is poor sales cancelled the run in part due to the DC implosion, format changes, starring of minor characters, move to direct sales...anything else? Bottom line is money talks, no sales means cancellation. -

I am so "all in"...thanks for setting this up again, HJO! By the way, no snow yet here in Sudbury Ontario Canada. A little bit chilly though. Chilluns better be wearing their warm woolies tonight if they wanna come knocking on my door. -
I just finished reading the latest FF 48-issue series (2018) mostly written by Dan Slott, over a one-week period. I was surprisingly entertained through most of it, especially enjoyed the six-part POINT OF ORIGIN story arc and the RECKONING WAR story arc. Not a big fan of the EMPYRE crossover arc though. Then again, I first started buying the FF back in the legendary Roy Thomas Bronze-Age era so I've always had a soft spot for this family of adventure. Don't write them off just yet, they are still popular in my comic book room. As long as the original four members remain members.

Be glad you don't live in Canada, Canada Post rates are ludicrous.

Whatever happened to... (Boardies from yesteryear)
CAMPER49 replied to Dr. Balls's topic in Comics General
Maybe I'm thinking of the eBay chat board from the halcyon days of Yore, but... Whatever happened to Gallinator? There was also a Linda-somebody or other And "Disney Teddies" from Winnipeg -

I don't really care much for the different covers, just hoping that the story will be something memorable, in a good way. Who will be write the story, who's the artist, etc. When they brought Zur-En-Arrh back yet again in the latest story arc, I felt like scrapping the title completely, and for me to do that it's gotta be bad.

So BATMAN (2016) is approaching #135 in 2023, which according to my calculation should be BATMAN #900 using the Legacy numbering. Has anyone heard anything regarding this milestone issue? Or will DC not resort to Marvel numbering trickery and number it as #135 and just keep moving along as if #900 didn't happen? Does anyone care?

I almost don't wanna join, so many folks restricting their prize to "US ONLY" But add me to the raffle anyway! To the raffle, I donate a copy of MIGHTY MARVEL MASTERWORKS, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VOL 1, plus a mystery assortment of Graphic Novels. I am willing to ship to Canada and the continental USA. Merry Christmas, one and all.
