  1. So there was a CGC facilitator at the Real Steel event?
  2. Interesting posts and all valid opinions, though I agree with Jesse-Lee that the "point" of Momoko's art is that it is unconventional and allows (forces) all of us comic book fans to see things in a different way, which is what art does. To me, it's refreshing to see comic art that's not just a copy of everything else out there. If nothing else, I like that she does not focus or obsess on anatomical perfection or extremes, which seems to be the fashion these days with so many other artists.
  3. I can't wait to submit my SME 15 for his signature, but for some reason I don't see the option for his autograph in Chinese. Can you look into this and fix it?
  4. That’s just crazy good stuff. I mean, most of the sketch covers shown in this thread look like they were professionally printed and are so much better in terms of being fully realized, final pieces of art, compared to the sketches I’ve seen done by more “established” artists, like JS Campbell, Jim Lee, or Frank Miller, which tend to be more “cartoony” and simple. I wonder which are more valuable on the market.
  5. Wait, those are sketches? Drawn directly on the comic book? They look like they were printed!
  6. FYI, I actually was just able to confirm with CGC that books being submitted for full page sketches do NOT need to be window bagged, which makes sense. However, books submitted for remarques still need to be window bagged.
  7. Oh, I see. So I guess that's how most of the cover art shown in this thread was done - i.e., sent directly to the artist first rather than submitted through CGC's private signing/sketch events. Thanks for clearing up my confusion!
  8. Hey all, I’m new to all this sketch work on comic books but find it really fascinating. I’m thinking about submitting some blank cover books to CGC for Jim Lee to sketch on, but I’m a little confused about how to submit them. If CGC requires all books be window bagged for submission, how did you all get these artists to fill the entire cover with their sketches, ie. edge-to-edge? Not to mention the back covers?? I’d really appreciate any pointers. Thanks!
  9. So, which issues would be best for her signature, in terms of resale value?
  10. Has anyone gotten a sketch cover done by Jim Lee? Is it worth the $875 CGC is currently charging to get one (and what would you submit/request)? Apologies if this is off topic!
  11. Well, I think the submission site has finally crashed for good. It's just a blank void now...
  12. Anyone else having trouble with CGC's online submission portal? It's taking forever to load and keeps crashing Guess everyone else is trying to submit last minute before the price gouging begins...
  13. So I noticed that Strange Tales 159 has gone ballistic this month. Over $4500 on HA and almost $4k on eBay (both 9.6)! https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1312&_nkw=strange+tales+159&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_sop=16&_osacat=0&_odkw=amazing+spider-man+201&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1
  14. My apologies - I just realized that this forum's topic is about eBay....
  15. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned that Marvel Premiere 15 recently sold for $14,400 on HA. Which makes absolutely no sense.
  16. The Neal Adams Batmans are criminally undervalued. Here's my BM 244 signed and remarked by the artist, which I have listed on eBay and will not let for less than $675 (lots of view but no takers so far, lol):
  17. No, it's not the 35 cent version, which is why I also had to do a double take.
  18. Sorry if this has already been noted, but Star Wars 2 in 9.8 recently went for $4,500 on eBay! Wasn't this a $500 book at best just a year ago?
  19. Even more surprising (at least to me) is that SW 2 recently reached $3300. That's up from an average selling price of $500 just a year ago!
  20. Nothing wrong with getting some nice mid-grade Adams! But I still think that despite all of its shortcomings, a CGC 9.8 label is worth every penny if you're lucky enough to get it, at least for now.
  21. I like slabbing anything that's worth $500+ on the market, for preservation and investment purposes. There's really no other way to be sure what your valuable issues are actually worth, e.g. for insurance purposes. Also, as a collector, wouldn't you want to know if your key issue is a 9.8 vs. a 9.6 or less?
  22. You should definitely ask CGC to recheck and regrade if you really think they made a mistake. I've had several books regraded for free and got better results. The best example is my Batman 251 which originally received a 9.0 with white/off-white pages. I wrote to CGC and told them they must have made a mistake, because the book was practically flawless and that any stress lines should have been corrected by pressing. Also, CGC originally said that there was a small corner crease, which they realized was not actually a crease after regrading it. It came back graded 9.6 with WHITE pages! Amazing but true. It's a pain in the to have to check CGC's grading and get them to fix it, but they will if you are clear and have a legitimate argument. Heck, they even credited me $100 for the trouble after they regraded about a dozen of my books, with most of them coming back with better grades. I figure it may have something to do with the fact that I've spent almost $10,000 on CGC/CSS, so I guess they want to keep me happy.
  23. So guess what? After I got my book back, I decided I wasn't happy with CGC's grading of 9.0 for this book, and asked them to re-grade it, because I thought that was bit low and had overly penalized the book for the small corner crease (which I don't think is actually a crease). Any they agreed to look at the book at no charge, and LO AND BEHOLD - it came back with a 9.6!! Which means it just tripled in value , and which also makes me question alot of my other grades, but I guess I should just count my blessings and leave it alone...for now.
