  1. I have the same question. My LCS just put out the flyers and there is no mention of CGC being there.
  2. I sent in 2 modern orders in October. One had 12 comics and the other had 25. They both took a little over a month. Now, I still have orders there since June and May but I somehow got these back. I emailed and asked what the deal was and got this response: "Thank you for your inquiry. Currently, CGC is testing out a new production process, the end goal of which is to speed up our overall service times for all departments. During this testing phase, you may see some individual invoices being processed at a much faster rate than other invoices or the normal turnaround time for that tier. We are hopeful that if this new process is successful after the testing phase, we can implement this on all submissions and tiers to dramatically improve all turnaround times. " Then I asked how they decide and got this response: "It is at random , all tiers of service, we are just testing it out on certain submissions from the time they are received, it is not a service we offer or anything like that."
  3. This is scary! Call and email to document and time stamp.
  4. I got all excited to see what was in the box because it was an order of 25 modern that I mailed to CGC back in May. I never look at the invoice first, I love to pull the comics out for the big surprise. Then I noticed some comics in the order that I dont think i would have ever sent in. Sure enough, the order was supposed to ship to CA not NJ. What is the normal protocol for this screw up? Do I wait for them to locate my comics first before anything happens? This is just terrifying because I have about 300 comics in cgc limbo since the summer.
  5. You were right. It didnt happen. I didnt remember the poly bag being noted before. Conspiracy debunked
  6. I hear ya... I just thought with it being 20 years old, a first appearance should be in the label database. If there is notation of who wrote the story and who did cover art in the database, how hard is it to have first appearances noted. I know they cant base anything off of movie rumors, i get that, but a first appearance is a first regardless of how insignificant someone might think it is.. The weird thing about this comic is that I took them ( I submitted 2 of them ) out of the poly bag so I could give them a press. The label made a note of them being removed from the poly bag. Almost seems like a strike against the comic... No? I called to ask beforehand if I should send it in with the bag and poster and they said no because they might not get sent back. Ive got polly bagged comics graded before and they were not noted as "Poly Bag Removed".
  7. I get that the comics that are new can get missed but these were some from the 90’ like ghost rider #28, the first midnight sons.. for example. I’ll write it in the notes for now on I guess.
  8. I just got a box of 25 slabs back. Modern. The comics that are a ratio variant or exclusive are noted as such. There are a bunch of these comics that have first appearances and none of them are noted at all. I didn’t think that was something I needed to note when submitting. It’s odd because there are other things noted in the top right like artist but I would think if there is a first appearance, that would have also be in the upper right. Sucks because this box was sent out in April and I have a few other boxes there that are scheduled to be graded that will also come back without first appearance notation.
  9. I was just about to ask this question. I just got a box back from GCG and there are 2 comics that I took out of the poly bag to press before sending. On the top right, it says that the “ comics was removed from poly bag” to me it almost seems like a strike against the comic….no?
  10. Im not sure what to do so Im just weighing out my options. I picked up a really nice Static #1 sealed with the poster and trading card. It feels really solid but you cant tell what the spine is like because the bag is opaque. Im leaning towards getting it graded because i feel like it could get a high grade but I wont really know until I open it up and potentially loose out on the value of having it sealed. What you you do?
  11. I have an Iron Fist Heart of the dragon Gabriele Dell Otto Virgin variant with a COA. Do I need to send in the COA with the comic or keep it? Thanks!
  12. Sorry if this topic has been covered already but I didn't see it when i searched. I get that the cgc grading turnaround times are increased and that is what it is but... Where are the comics when they are in limbo. Its 2 months since my comics arrived to CGC. I emailed and they said they got them but there is no official acknowledgment by them that they have been received. Where do they keep the comics that are in limbo? Are they responsible for the comics the same way if they haven't officially taken in the boxes yet? If anyone could shed a little light on this that would be great. Im a little nervous sending in high end key issues when I know they will stay in comic limbo for 2 months before they officially say they arrived.
  13. Does Canvassing effect the grade? Or is it just in the notes? I didn't see anywhere that gave a clear answer from CGC.
  14. Any thoughts on parchment vs silicone paper? I just got a bunch back with the canvassing notes. I didn't even know this was a thing. All paper has a texture.
  15. Like I said, I learned the hard way on a venom comic that could have been really nice. The square sticker will press through a few pages if its not padded correctly. Ill probably repress it after I get the technique down. I found this video in the meantime Comic pressing with digital code. I ordered some card stock to try that method. I have a bunch of dollar bin comics to work on first. Ill post results when I'm done.
  16. Im sorry if this is already a thread. I looked and didnt see one. Im looking for some guidance and techniques for pressing modern age comics with the digital code square. Lets be honest. The new paper marvel is using for its covers really sucks. It almost always looks waivy. I learned the hard way on my first modern comic pressing with the square and pressed a big ol square in the whole comic. I tried some other techniques with surrounding the square with backing boards but, IMO, bulked out the spine a little.
  17. @GACollectibles Thanks, I never even heard of that.
  18. Im looking to buy a scanner and have a question about compatibility of some of these scanners. I use Macs and some of these scanners listed are a little older and the software is 32bit not 64bit. I know if i drop $1300+ on a pro grade graphic arts scanner, I would be ok, but is there any middle ground? Im not looking for a refurb or used either. HP's new scanners look like document feed only. Has anyone tried the Xerox Documate 4700? New for around $550. Thats the only scanner that i can find readily available that fits the price point and size needed.
  19. Thanks. I did see this but I went on because it was from 2010. I didnt realize there were newer posts in this thread. delete my post.
  20. Hey there~ What scanners are you using to get a good image of your slabs? I tried all kinds of methods with photography and cant get a clean image without a glare or my reflection. I was reading that a flatbed scanner is the way to go. I see legal size scanners out there from $99-$250 to way too much$$$. Are there any that dont scan with a glare on the plastic better than others? TIA!
  21. Since I have all this free time right now I started going through my collection and came across a few blank variant covers. Some X-men and wolverine. I have no idea on how to get OA from an artist other than cold calling them. This is an area I have no clue in. What are the ethics and etiquette when asking an artist to pencil a cover? Any help would be appreciated.
