  1. Mistakes are bound to happen. The most likely scenario was that it was missed and discarded. Curious to see how CGC resolves this. I think there is a lesson in here for all of us. A note in the top of the box boldly claiming there are two submissions inside would make it more clear to the people processing it. We all pack all sorts of extra protection for our books and I can imagine it being easy to assume you found the goods and not see a second item if it’s wrapped in cardboard. That is not an excuse but we should do whatever we can to minimize costly mistakes. The safest would have been to ship them separately as then there is no ambiguity on if it arrives and was opened. Of course it sucks to pay more shipping but for a high value item I would absolutely that this precaution.
  2. Quick shipping and well packed. Couldn't be happier with the transaction. Thanks a ton!
  3. overall i’m thrilled with grades.
  4. Should probably mention to be fair that CGC was awesome about fixing that (including shipping cost) and it was fairly quick.
  5. I guess I got my answer. Just got an email with a new received date for one of the submissions. Almost three weeks of going from done at CCS to back into the system at CGC. Crazy...
  6. My very first ever submission ;-)
  7. Of course there is no way to prove it, but yep, I would bet money on it if there was a way to prove it.
  8. And how many of people collect now a days because they grew up in the 90's and were caught up in it all? I bet the number is a hell of a lot more than you think. In fact, without the 90's, i bet comics would be long gone by now. There was some great content in the 90's and it sparked the love of comic books for so many people. It's so irritating to hear people trash that era...
  9. I don't get it. Something happens that got lots of new people into your store. How is this a bad thing? As a shop owner you should be wishing that this sort of thing happens more often and work on turning the temporary customer into someone who returns. Or I suppose you can just take the holier than now attitude about how only die hard fans should be allowed to shop in your store....tell me how that works out for you in the long run....
  10. You think that's bad.... Finally got the CCS charge for most last week but still waiting on 1 from 10/30 to be pressed....This is on top of the fact that the books were dropped off on 10/5 and took almost a month to even get into the system. I have no doubt that C2E2 will put even more pressure on these.....
  11. Does the date of received get updated when they are moved from CCS back to CGC? I have a few different orders that have been charged recently for CCS. Do you have to wait for receiving again the same as when they were initially sent to CGC? It took almost a month the first time around to get to received....really hoping I don't have to wait that long to get back into the queue...Also, I don't feel like the time it takes to process books from the mail room is added into the time estimates?
  12. A few pointers on Claremont from my experienced at NYCC last year. First, if you care about signature placement, I HIGHLY consider window bags. If you don't you will get the signature across the X-Men title (I personally am not a fan of this). Second, he had his own markers and one of them was a paint pen of sorts. I waited a good minute before returning the book to my stack and it still smudged terribly. Be very careful if he uses a non sharpie to wait long enough for it to dry.
  13. I can at least give you my reasoning. First, its my first time and I generally think people assume CCS is the normal thing to do when submitting and being that it is my first experience, I have nothing else to compare it to. Second, all of the books in question were signature series. Sure I could have had them pressed and then tried to be super careful but the reality is, I was new to SS and lugged all my books to the convention and had no clue what to expect with creators and how they handle the books (some of which I am glad I opted to get pressed). NYCC is so chaotic that I cant imagine our books don't have a higher risk of getting pressable defects while they are being handled. That being said, I think you live and learn. I think I had many books pressed that did not need to be and I also think I could have saved a ton of time getting ones that needed it pressed a head of time and being super careful while handling them. I am definitely looking at doing things differently this year and trying out some other avenues to understand my options.
  14. My NYCC Modern submissions w/ standard press are finally starting to get done at CCS. I have 3 submissions received 10/30 w/ no movement 2 submissions received 10/29 (1 of which just got charged for CCS) 1 submission received 10/24 w/no movement
  15. There is nothing wrong with asking if witnesses will be available for a con on the boards. There is also nothing wrong with explaining to people the ins and outs of why smaller cons don't have witnesses. But there really is no need to start name calling and being rude to people. I see this on these boards a lot and its pretty sad. If you all want to have a healthy community of people who love comics, perhaps be a bit nicer to the newer members. Be the hero and not the villain .... Also, I live in the Albany area and I haven't seen any ability to have witnesses at the small cons around here, I don't think you will have much luck. Your best bet is to make the trek up to NYCC in the fall.
  16. My lone submission returned. Was More expecting a 9.0 at best so i was happy. Although the cover looks like it is offset from the press or encapsulation. Lucked out with the full signature too!
  17. So thrilled right now. Figured 8.0-8.5. Pleasantly surprised, and white pages. Thanks @Rich_Henn! This one is coming back your way when we can go after Conway, Ploog, or Thomas!
  18. Regarding the pressing service. I submitted pretty early and my card was already charged for the pressing service. I assume that to mean it was pressed prior to signing. I have a sneaky (unfounded) suspicion that some books were being pressed prior to keep up with the sheer volumes of books being submitted for this and still be able to hit the promised window. I could be completely wrong but I looked through all my submissions and the dollar amount charged to my card only lined up with the pressing service for this signing.
