I remember going to The Great Escape in Nashville for the first time in '77. I'm not sure how long it was open prior to that. Pretty much the happiest place on Earth for me for many years.

I've never read any of the reprints. My first exposure to these books was seeing the covers here and there and my first experience reading them was when I actually bought them. I've always had a thing about reading the original article when I can. As much as I love the Big 5 and Sgt Fury and the like, these EC books are just amazing from cover to cover. My only regret is that i didn't get into them sooner.

Same here Shep! There are SO many amazing FLC and TFT covers it's hard to choose, but this one always blows me away.

Thanks! I don't think I'll read it to pieces though The first story, with the Severin art is just fanatsic. I've been completely blown away by how good the stories and artwork are in all the EC war books.

Found a couple of books today, thanks to Dale Roberts . This was one the first Rock books that i remember reading...read it to pieces actually. And although this isn't SA, I'm sure you guys will appreciate it. This was a long sought after book for me.

Oh, I'd say Enemy Ace. An interesting look from the enemy's point of view. Something never tried before, at least as far as a main character was concerned. I've always wondered if the original intention was to show a WW II German pilot, but perhaps the wounds of the war were still a little too fresh? It was almost another decade before Blitzkrieg came along and even that didn't last very long. The Unknown Soldier is a great character with a lot of great, under appreciated stories, but he is essentially a secret agent, a 007 of his era. As intriguing a character as he is, I think the other side of the coin aspect of Enemy Ace make him the significant character.
