  1. Here is the only prelim that I own. It is a decent sized painting (18" x 24") done by Ashley Wood for the "Hellspawn: The Ashley Wood Collection" cover.
  2. Big thank you to @DeadOne for these generous and gorgeous additions to my slowly evolving personal library! Ever since I moved to the Boston area I have become more interested in history and this Batman war collection is going to be the first one I crack into! Ripley also agrees this is what I should read as first as well!
  3. I am glad you are enjoying the books! The reprinting in these collected editions is exquisite. I never knew these pre code collections existed before and now know what to get my father in law for his birthday haha
  4. My package was damaged and needed to be repacked. Thankfully it appears that they were protected quite well originally and there is no damage to the contents! Ripley is checking them out and will be guarding them so I am not tempted to open before Christmas. Well maybe just the card so I can thank @DeadOne in advance for this very generous festive haul! Thank you! I will post an update when I open them in a few days.
  5. This is my fear for the krakoa era. Hickman may have had a grand picture mapped out but it is but poorly executed currently. Maybe in the near future the powers that be can plan out a solid reading order for things. I like the idea at face value but it may be a bit over stretched from a story telling point of view. That said I think an omnibus series is possible but it may be a couple years down the road after hickman’s contributions have come to fruition. As @Cat is alluding to the krakoa era is heavy handed and convoluted. Maybe giving it a little time to be digested will allow the publishers to map out things better in the near future.
  6. I am currently working my way though the TMNT IDW run and was thinking of picking this up as well. Hearing others mention it being an enjoyable read is making me think it's time to place an order with instock this weekend. Nice pick ups btw @F For Fake I have only read the Powers of x / House of x but have heard good things about the krakoa era especially the marauders.
  7. I think Marvels #1 has an acetate cover which looks to be what was signed here. The slip is most likely behind that giving the illusion that is signed. Doesn't excuse the fact that the slip is there or how it was possibly missed.
  8. Such sad news to read about. My condolences to you and your family.
  9. Happy to add this to my personal collection today!
  10. Thanks for sharing the video @theCapraAegagrus It is a handy tip to help extend the life of your books, especially with some of these books clocking in at 1200+ pages. My brother has an older omni he picked up off ebay that has a warped spine. I'll see if i can get him to send me a pic. @F For Fake I hope they reprint this one as well in the future. I recall it being a mind blowing event for my 11 year old self. I am not sure how well it holds up but I am looking forward to reading the full story in the near future.
  11. I enjoy popping into LCS when I am out of town as you never know what you may find. This past weekend I found this copy of Fatal Attractions for half off. Spine is OK for a 10 year old book. It seems the original owner didn't properly stretch it out but I have seem much worst.
  12. Oh nice that was a a fun show when we were kids as it seems like we are close in age. Good for you sharing some fun silly humor to distract your relative. All distractions are welcome during a time like that especially comedy! I remember freaking out over that moment in Fatal Attractions it was a very memorable moment as well when we found out his claws were bone all along. It was fun to see the character explored in a vulnerable state during that time period. I know some people didn't like it but I found it a humanizing aspect of his character. Being driven mad and lost in the fallout was wild. Now you have me wanting to revisit that story arch! Thank you @ADAMANTIUM I now know what I'll be reading after Batman: No man's land.
  13. Years ago when I was recovering from knee surgery a friend lent me some of the TPB from Geoff John's Green Lantern run. At the time it had been a good decade plus since I had read any comics. Being down and out with time on my hands I figured why the heck not lets give this a read. Well I got sucked in fast. His run helped rekindle my love for this medium and reminded me of the fun it can be outside of the collecting aspect. I can recall the exact moment I knew I was back. It was the bare knuckle drag out fight between Hal + Kyle vs. Sinestro. Seeing that reminded me of how much fun comics can be as I am a sucker for powerful characters being stripped of their powers and dragged into a bare hands slug fest. It's a trope that reminds me fondly of the "holy s..." moment of Superman vs Doomsday in the 90's. Yes I was 10 and yes it was awesome to me! I was more of a Hal fan growing up and didn't care much for Kyle originally but John's handling of the character plus that fight changed my mind. So when I saw this recently I needed to add it to my collection.
  14. My better half surprised me with this and I couldn't be happier! She certainly know the way to my heart is with a good book.
  15. I had some decent finds this weekend. These are for my personal collection so the Spawn 165 needing a press doesn't bother me much... well at least not at the moment haha
  16. @Comics4All Thank you so much for these sweet gifts! This haul is the perfect addition to my growing collection. These figures are going to look awesome in my office. And I am quite stoked in particular to finally get a chance to read all star superman! Partaking in this secret Santa event has been such a fun experience from start to finish. It has gotten me to transition from being a lurker into a more active member. Getting to see what everyone has been gifting each other is an absolute blast. Thank you @HollyJollyOne for organizing all of this!
  17. I vote 2! Nothing wrong with opening it up now if you wont be around in my opinion. quick question for all... will there be a new thread started on the 25th where we can post what we got?
  18. Ho Ho Ho Sectret Santa has arrived safe and secure! Very nice touch with the Sunday comics. I am very excited to see what we have here on Xmas. Thank you very much @Comics4All
  19. @Axelrod I am glad they arrived safely! Sorry I may have just put my name and not my board name on the card. Hope you enjoy!
  20. Thanks for the heads up a coworker said something similar. That a major event takes place in issue 100 and said it diverges a bit to. His thought process is they may be setting up for something down the road but time will tell. He has been trying his best to avoid many spoilers as he knows I am just about to jump headfirst into this whole run. I am excited to start reading when I have some free time to do so haha. @srezvan@F For Fake Thanks for the heads up on the sale.
  21. I'm going to keep the TMNT love going by adding the first 3 IDW collections to my mini library. Quite excited to finally get around to reading this run as I have heard many good things about IDW's handling of TMNT. Bonus mini collection shot. I know I need to get around to upgrading my bookshelf to something bigger to accommodate my growing collection.
  22. Thanks for all the input everyone! It's greatly appreciated when I can learn more such as how these surface scratches impact the grade.
  23. Thanks for all the input everyone it's greatly appreciated! I'll be including this with my next shipment to CGC and will update this when I get it back eventually.
  24. Wow that was an informative read @Qalyar Thanks for the information! As you said, it is interesting to see that "For reflection holograms, colour change is a common problem, particularly a shift from red to blue; while yellow images can change from a gold hue to green. It has been suggested that this colour change is closely related to the thickness of the gelatin layer; swelling can cause a red shift and shrinkage a blue shift." I agree it seems plausible the the natural degradation of the materials is causing a shift towards a darker blue color. I think if the hobby as a whole starts to discover more and more "error holograms" a conversation will need to be had about about the validity of the error.
