  1. Today, March 22nd, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Neal Adams Alex Toth Ramona Fradon Featured Page: Captain Marvel #17 p14 ( First New Captain Marvel) by Gil Kane There may not be a greater, or as important, page in the whole Captain Marvel storyline as this particular splash. Here’s where Captain Marvel comes back from the Negative Zone and dons the costume, for the very first time, that he will be forever remembered for. Thank god he finally discards that terrible green costume that not too many of us were fans of. I think a good part of his popularity stems from how great this costume looked. This really is an epic first appearance in the annals of Marvel comics. NEW ART FRIDAYS update this week includes art from Giordano, Gil Kane, Jim Mooney, Don Heck, Neal Adams, Jack Kirby, Mike Zeck, Bob Powell, Sal Buscema, Alex Toth, Ramona Fradon, John Stanisci, James Fry, Jerry Bingham, George Papp, Don Heck, Jose Delbo, Carmine Infantino, and Ed Smalls! Featured Artists: Bill Everett Frank Thorne Joe Quesada Featured Page: Tales to Astonish #78 p1 (Large Art - Splash) by Jack Kirby, Bill Everett You would be hard pressed to ever find as dynamic an art piece of the Hulk as this. To have it drawn by Kirby and Everett takes it to an even higher level. Images like this are rare to find and are sought after by most collectors. Whosoever gets this extraordinary splash from me will never regret it after they frame it up and enjoy it daily as I have done. 3. Today, December 22nd, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: John Byrne Jack Kirby Tom Sutton Featured Page: Captain Marvel #35 Cover by Ron Wilson What more would you want in a Captain Marvel cover but to have him large and imposing with a great Villain, in this case you have the Living Laser, and of course having Rick helpless and needing Marvel to save him? As a kid I thought the Living Laser was just super cool and his outfit was “neato.” I’m sure I’ve dated myself. NEW ART FRIDAYS update this week includes art from Jack Kirby, Ron Wilson, Lou Morales, Sal Buscema, Alan Kupperberg, Dillin, John Byrne, Michael Baer, Andy Kuhn, and Tom Sutton! 4. Today, December 15th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Alex Toth Jack Kirby Frank Brunner Featured Page: Batman #14 p10 (Large Art) by Jerry Robinson This is truly one of the greatest pieces of original comic art that I’ve ever offered up for sale. It may not be the most expensive or even the most beautiful but when it comes to rare and historic it’s hard to beat this piece. There are not many of these early Batman pages in existence and to have one drawn by Jerry Robinson plus have it showcase Batman and Robin prominently simply boggles the mind. This page belongs in a museum. NEW ART FRIDAYS update this week includes art from Steve Ditko, Jerry Robinson, Don Heck, Carmine Infantino, Pablo Marcos, John Romita, Jr., Scott Eaton, Gene Colan, Jan Duursema, Tom Grummett, Marie Severin, Alex Toth, Gil Kane, Mike Mignola, Frank Brunner, Scott Shaw, and Jack Kirby! 5. Today, December 8th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Billy Graham Dan Adkins Roy Krenkel Featured Page: Batman #0 Cover by Greg Capullo This is one of Capullo’s most recognizable images of Batman. Because of how iconic the image is it was chosen as a popular tee shirt design. It was also a part of DC’s New 52 launch. I know there’s another Capullo Batman cover on a site for $75,000 and a few have sold this year between $50,000 and $65,000. A friend who knows that market better than I do told me he sold his for $65,000 and then helped me write this blurb. NEW ART FRIDAYS update this week includes art from Billy Graham, Greg Capullo, Rich Buckler, Mike Sekowsky, Jack Kirby, Dan Adkins, Don Newton, Don Heck, Curt Swan, Jerry Grandenetti, Roy Krenkel, John Herbert, Mike Mignola, Bob Powell, Rudy Nebres, Ed McGuinness, John Buscema, and John Byrne! 6. Today, December 1st, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: John Romita, Sr. Mike Mignola Tim Sale Featured Page: Captain America #102 p6 by Jack Kirby Truly an outstanding battle page with Cap doing the things that he is most beloved for. Every panel is tremendous. Even his shield is on full display. These early pages in the Cap run are the most sought after especially with the Syd Shores inks that give it that Golden Age feel to the art. Though I’m a bit biased, he’s my personal favorite Captain America inker. Featured Artists: Al Avison Jack Kirby John Buscema Featured Page: Wolverine: Rahne of Terra #1 p38 (Signed)(Large Art) by Andy Kubert These are the kinds of pages that collectors are fighting over. A Wolverine battle page with his claws out. Having it drawn by Andy Kubert is a huge bonus as his pages are becoming more sought after and compared to Jim Lee are still in the affordable spectrum. It’s a nice touch that it’s done in the large art format in that you get a lot more art than usual. The size makes it that much more dynamic a page.
