  1. Yup, there was one piece I was very interested in but someone else was willing to pay more for it than I was. Oh well. Kind of glad I didn’t win because if I did win, it would have been more than I reasonably felt comfortable paying for 1 piece of art of this kind.
  2. I didn’t want to say anything because I feel I am still new to the hobby but that framing job doesn’t look too good to my untrained eyes…
  3. Here is an 11” x 14” commission by Kyle Roberts of The Master of Spiders from the 1985 Fighting Fantasy gamebook, Scorpion Swamp by Steve Jackson: The original illustration by Duncan Smith:
  4. I got in 1989’s Avengers Spotlight Issue # 24 Page 14 by Al Milgrom (pencils) and Don Heck (inks) featuring a plethora of B and C-list villains: As it appears published:
  5. I got in my first double page spread today with 1995’s Ghost Rider Issue #67 pages 2 and 3 by Salvador Larocca (penciller) and Sergio Melia (inker): As they appeared in print:
  6. I got in this 9” x 12” commission by Yale Stewart today featuring grade school miscreants Vega and The Baroness practicing their nefarious deeds that will help form their villainous careers:
  7. I got in this 11”x14” published painting of a Cobra H.I.S.S. tank by Billy Tackett:
  8. I got in an 8 1/2” x 8” Vega commission by Rene Cordova: And how it looks “vertically”:
  9. Oh, man! I would have jumped at the opportunity if a fellow collector offered me that page at $1200 (Heritage Auction price)! With a 3-month timed payment schedule of course (given my small time means). A great villain page! You got Attuma, Tiger Shark, Dr. Lorcas (I assume) and even a tiny Dr. Doom in a panel with Namor tied up and defeated is an extra bonus! Just a sweet scene of evil!
  10. Here is my CAF Live acquisition for this year that just arrived today from Fisch B., The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Update’89 Issue #3 Pages 35 & 36 Hammerhead by Alex Saviuk (pencils) and Joe Rubinstein (inks): Original Art Page 35; Original Art Page 36: Published Page 35: Published Page 36:
  11. Just saw your interview and left a comment under my YouTube name. Also, I’m probably never going to make it to Montana but on the slim chance that the restraining order is ever rescinded, I’d love to grab a cheeseburger at your restaurant! If you serve seasoned curly fries as well, that would be awesome!
  12. Here is my latest Fighting Fantasy commission, an 8” x 8” inked cyclops by Giancarlo Caracuzzo: Here is the original illustration by Alan Langford from the 1984 Fighting Fantasy gamebook, The Island of the Lizard King:
  13. Good luck! Try not to say “it is what is”, “literally” or “right”! You’ll get people drunk way too fast!
  14. Thank you very much sir! I always like to reply to all emails about possible negotiations even if just to say “no thank you”.
  15. I dislike this practice as well. All items listed in booths should be available for outright sale and not an auction listing. It means I have to scroll through an additional 2-3 unnecessary pages. Also, I have received emails concerning my CAF Live Saved Artworks for price reductions. However, when I click on the listing in the email, it takes me to a CAF page for subscribing to CAF Live updates. I guess I’d have to contact the seller directly on his regular gallery page but his prices are still too high for my budget (especially after I’ve already committed myself to a purchase). Which is really too bad because one piece is really awesome and I’d love to add it to my villain collection!
  16. Well, now that CAF Live is over, I can offer my personal experience. There were about half a dozen items that interested me (but not enough to pay the posted asking price) and saved them for later hoping that a seller would reach out for a possible deal. Alas, none did. But that didn’t really matter as I was able to secure a piece I really wanted out right! It was a piece that was more expensive than what I usually pay for examples from the same series but it was actually 2 consecutive pages (concerning the same character) and it was from someone I had bought from before and always love doing business with (Fisch B.!). He was gracious enough to accept timed payments in order for me to be able acquire these pages as well as offering me a discounted price at the same time! He has done more to increase my personal collection than any other single person. Thanks again, Fisch!
  17. Nah, it’s cool. And I totally agree with you! I wouldn’t take comic art buying advice from me either! I have no clue!
