I had a few books from a single order, half non-pressed that I have received back and half pressed that I haven't received yet, that are now outside the 8-month window and no longer shown on the submissions page. I have the order number but didn't write down the submission number and wanted to track progress. I checked the "View my packing slips" and only see the order number. I sent a note to CGC but haven't heard back yet. Anyone know where I can see the submission number and/or how to see status on over 8-month old submissions?

    per the site

Use the search tool to find submissions made more than 8 months ago.

I assume you enter the order number in the search field, no?

No idea what is going on with your book, but 8 weeks in GEI seems insane to me unless they sent it off to CCS after it was signed (which seems wrong too).  Anyway, hope you get your book back soon!

thanks, fyi, books with pressing services are always sent to CCS after the signing not prior to which does make sense

    Wow. Did they lose it?

no they didn't lose it, maybe they don't know how to encapsulate a book

Well, I hate to say it, but honestly, how much are they making on a single book MODERN submission?  Equally, how much are they making on a 25 book MODERN submission?  What is the profit per MODERN book they grade?  At full-retail of $22, adding in all of the labor an materials I would think they make maybe $5 per book (maybe more, maybe less, but that would be my guess).  Now compare that to MODERN FAST TRACK which is an extra $15 per book, so $20 or so profit per book.  On a 25 book submission, you go from $125 profit on MODERN to $500 profit on MODERN FAST TRACK.  I think it all comes down to business fundamentals, and under that lens it sure does make sense for them to prioritize the books, and customers, who are the most profitable.

    blah, blah, blah

my book was a SS book that I paid $125 for a remarque on and $20 on a press in addition to all their other fees

there is no sound business reason why my book is still in GEI since 10/27

estimated turn around time was advertised as 8 week for grading and pressing, my book was signed in September (9/16)

Ouch. I guess I have nothing to complain about with my 8/3/21 25 book Modern submission only being in week 4 now of G/E/I.

no you certainly don't as my single modern book has been in GEI for 9 weeks now ... and it was actually graded probably almost 2 months back

I sent customer service an email about this on 12/9. They responded on 12/13 and said they would rush it because "it was behind".  As of today, absolutely no change:frustrated:

I decided to call shortly after my post and spoke to CS and was told it was graded and awaiting encapsulation and that a request would be sent to kick the tires and have them expedite and that I would get an email update

I'll let you know if/when I do hear back

3 Sienkiewicz Remarque Books w/ press
    Received at CCS: 7/29
    SFG: 12/22

STILL no movement on my books that were signed in September, for almost 2 Months. Beyond angry.

7 Sienkiewicz Sig Books w/ press
    SFG on 10/29
    GEI on 11/1

since the board crashed I will try this again

piggybacking off of what Chazgee said

I still do not have my Sin-KEV-Itch SS submission with remarque and press back
    received 7/6
    GEI 10/27

yet here was the trajectory of my Perez SS submission with "supposed CCS press"

    SFG 11/4
    GEI on 11/10
    QC on 11/22
    Shipped 11/23

how does this even make sense and why is there no communication from CGC as to any of these abnormal delays??!

I called to ask what's going on. It turns out Mr Sienkiewicz had so many requests for remarques that he couldn't finish them in September and had to return in November. My 3 remarques were done on Nov 9th. That clarifies a lot.

    this is good to know

thanks for updating the board Chazgee

still seems odd that something can be stuck in GEI since late October

  8. this is a simple question

if you want the original early issues you can buy the Fantasy Masterpieces staring The Silver Surfer issues (1979) which reprint the early part of the silver age Vol 1 run (first 14 issues) for a decent price in decent grade

King Size Fantastic Four #5 from the silver age has the Surfer's first solo story pre-dating Silver Surfer 1 which would be considered historical and is still affordable ... short and not the best of stories but maybe the reader will enjoy the FF portion of the book as well and will expand their interest in comics

Just received a reply from CGC and they said the signing has not occurred yet. Perhaps they mistakenly put the “Scheduled for Grading” designation on my submission because it obviously doesn’t make sense lol

it was not a mistake, it is scheduled for grading ..... after the signing, there is no "awaiting signing" status

I sent in a couple books and my submission currently says “Scheduled For Grading”. Does this mean they were signed?

Don’t remember from past signing events.

given the last date for submission is now 1/1/22 clearly they have not been signed

SFG status is what will be reflected upon receipt by CGC

does the pressing fee typically not show up on the invoice?

so it looks like the pressing fee does not show up on the CGC invoice

I spoke with customer service and they said that the book was pressed and emailed me a separate CCS invoice that shows the pressing fee (same invoice number just different paper with the CCS logo)

I guess this is done because technically they are 2 separate companies

I suggested that they include both invoices with the order in the future or make it clear on the CGC invoice that the pressing was done and charged

surprised this doesn't come up more often

sorry for any panic caused ..... so I guess I'm back to my original "disappointment" that the book graded a 9.4 with a press, sure looks better than that to me and better than some listings I see on 3rd party sites that graded higher
