  2. you're kinda making me scramble here to save face ( obviously not a concern when I started the OO vs. Supes thread back in 2006 ). Both sold for $6k.......which one?!
  3. OK then....let's take this same Archie, and put it up against Batman. Both sold for approx $6k a few years ago....now which one would you choose, and why ?
  4. A few years ago, both sold for approx. $6k. The graders notes on the Archie reference 3 pieces of tape on the interior of the cover, and an extra set of staples not from manufacturing. Which one would you choose, and why ?
  5. what?.....is there some problem with the mortgage industry? ... I didn't notice
  6. Both VF Unrestored big-time Keys sold for approx. $60,000. Which one would you choose, and why ?
  7. Both sold for approx. $41,000 in 2007. Which one would you choose, and why ?
  8. both sold for $19,000 about 1 1/2 years ago.....which one would you choose, and why ? ( Silver Streak graders notes: collection of Nicholas Cage )
  9. I was in Scoop! this past spring.....and it had to do with a sale that netted a $10,000 profit http://scoop.diamondgalleries.com/public/default.asp?t=1&m=1&c=34&s=259&ai=57582&ssd=6%2F13%2F2007&sp=steve%20meyer&sd=6/8/07&arch=y
  10. Really, I think it probably is...Surprisingly the TOP 2 census copies both have negitive notes attached to them[the 8.5 and 7.5. The highest grades with no notes attached[i call them clean books] are the two 6.5s... ...and Peter, how does it feel to own one of the 6.5's I don't know about you guys, but when I own a great, high demand book, there is an emotional reward that has nothing to do with money.....it is that "I've got one!" emotion that only a fellow collector can relate to and appreciate. Steve
  11. I thought you said you were going to collect Tec 35 and More Fun 62 starting January 29th........
  12. I was speaking a little tongue in cheek as Steve has some incredible books, and varying tastes. Plus he isn't afraid to flip for a profit or a loss. Spidey #1 is a blue chip of comics. If it goes up or down so does the market as a whole and vice versa. I'd rather own a spidey 1 than any other SA key besides FF1 and AF15.
  13. WOW. Is this why you've been selling some big books lately, Steve? yes Jeff, it is......and between us, I figured out something that NO ONE else knows, so PLEASE keep it between us ------- high grade SA Marvel Keys are great books to own Steve
  14. This one may be OK to hold onto for a while.............
  15. "It's beginning to feel a lot like Crippen, la dee dah hmm hmm".... both of these killer pre-Robin Crippen Tecs sold for approx $17,500 in 2006. Which one would you choose, and why ?
  16. don't keep us hanging Sean! There is obviously a story we can all learn from here.....it's Ok, you are amongst your peers now take a deep breath....and tell us the damn story! Steve
  17. Both restored keys sold for about $15,500 within the past 18 months. Which one would you choose, and why ?
  18. I'm with the gator on this one. (thumbs u Steve; Although I certainly agree with your point on the popularity of the Batman character over the Flash, I think Rick's point about availability of similar graded copies tips the scales towards the Flash. It also doesn't hurt the fact that the Flash has the Church provenance attached to it while the Bats possibly has the Lauterbach provenance attached to it. It should also be pointed out the Flash #1 has already been vetted out by several restoration experts over the years and has always come up clean. This cannot be said for many of the other Church DC keys which have not been able to passed this test. In addition, I feel that the $300K price is a bit over the top at this point in time for the Bats #1. Of course, I also think the $300K might be a bit high on the Flash as my sights would be more on a Action 1 or a 'Tec 27 when you are talking about dropping $300K on a book. Yeah, I hear 'ya........so far I am the only person to choose the Bat. I just couldn't spend $300k on a grade and/or a Pedigree..........gotta love the superhero 1st and foremost ( again, for me ), and I have never really been a GA Flash fan ( not that there's anything wrong with that! ). So even though it's about 10 to 1......Bat #1 still for me!
  19. ....in light of the recent ComicLink Bat #1 9.0 sale, let's try a "lifestyles of the rich and famous Which one would you choose, and why ? " The Mile High Flash #1 sold for $273,000 over 1 year ago. Let's give it some implied appreciation for the time that has elapsed, and call it the same price now as the 9.0 Bat #1 ----- $300,000. So, with $300,000 of your own REAL $$ on the line, which one would you choose, and why ? for me, I'd have to go with the Bat! With that many greenbacks on the line, I could not pull the trigger on what I consider to be a 2nd tier Superhero ( Flash ). Only Spider-Man, Batman or Superman could warrant that kind of investment. Flash #1-- pedigree can't be beat, and the 9.6 will likely never be beat......but the character comes up short for me....gotta love the character with a 1/3 of a mill at stake! How about you guys....what say you?
