Rick,
You can always buy books from me. I am not an NOD guy so I don't have to tell you about the chocolate!
just the opposite; you are in fact a Don't Own-up to Nothing kind of guy.
[i lost about 4 billable hours figuring that red letter stuff out]
That's right, I'm the Comic Don. And I've got an offer you can't refuse!

I may "quote" this one a bunch. I think it should be pictured on every page! Thanks for sharing.

I suddenly have a hankering for a Baby Ruth. I think I'll crack one out and continue looking at Timelys. Thank you, Paul!
-
Please Dad....Can we edit that picture out now? I am starting to get embarrassed..................
-
i got this one today, and since i'm always posting in timely and group, i was thrilled to throw another guy coming in with guns blazing over here.
Wow Billy. I am jealous! you finally did it. It has been a while since I've said anything nice to you so here goes.....Nice Book!
Plus I think it has my name written all over it! (in the top left?)
Actually I think it has Billy's name on it. It says Richard"son", and aren't you his daddy?
You are right! I forgot, was this a birthday present?

Okay, I'll be the first to ask.....Why do they call him Phantasmo?

When is Grand Baby Parker going to post his runs of USA, Daring, and Mystic?
-
Mr. B, and Ryan thank you for sharing! Wonderful books! I would love to have either one.
Paul
Paul, are you collecting this guy yet? just went up on group shot, and he swam over here for love as well.
To get that photo were you doing that ceiling hanging trick your brother Peter taught you? Nice run Parker!
nah, the only thing he taught me was that thing with the liquid webbing.
Just remember that your daddy taught you how to use that pool table. What do you owe me now?
So would that make Parker my grandson?!
Because I am clearly your Daddy!
it really says something when one realizes that the most disgusting thing in the picture is the steeler's super bowl faux championship t-shirt.
You shoulda just laughed grand-baby, instead bringing out that tired old lame Steeler hatin' stuff!
When are we going to Owen Mills to have a portrait made with with all three generations?

I give......You Win!!!!!!!!!!

You are right about it being so cool. And it is a tough book to find in grade. I looked for YEARS for a nice copy. Not even high grade, just nice looking. It is one of those books (like All-American 16) where you usually see copies that are ugly or have lots of unsightly restoration (you know, where they really looked restored and fake). And with the awesome cover, when you see a nice copy it really stands out. I like yours for that reason. It has great eye appeal and looks real.
My favorite Timelys are the titles like Daring Mystery and Mystic, where each issue has a totally different line-up. Sure, most of the characters appeared in one issue for good reason. But it is interesting reading these stories where obviously the creators are just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. Red Raven #1 is the epitome of that.
-
Has anyone posted a High grade Red Raven 1? I would love to see that. I wonder if Bang has one of those tucked away in his piles of Gold?
Does this count as high grade? (around a FN+/VF, minor resto work reinforcement around staples)... I apologize to those of you who are tiring of this image ... its one of my favorite books in my collection, so any excuse to post...
You should try to track down JonB's Larson Red Raven scans (in this thread?)... you'll see mine is a "why bother"...
Ryan,
You should never use "Red Raven #1" and "why bother" in the same paragraph! One of my favorite books also!

Paul,
John Verzyl does indeed have a majority of the Mile High Timelys. As far as I know he doesn't participate on the boards, but he is a super knowledgable guy, and always ready to share stories if you can ever get him on the phone. (Be prepared for a long conversation if you do!) I don't know if anyone has seen all of them in a long time. I know he hasn't had them graded. He doesn't have the Mile High of Red Raven 1 though. That is the one book Chuck R. still owns.

Awesome! What a great run, and all of them look nice!

I want that Marvel 5 so bad I can taste it. I used to own it. Sold it to Fishler in '99 so he could flip it to Cage. I was buying a house and used Marvel Mystery Comics for the down payment. All of them (9.0 #2, Chicago #4, Larson #5,plus 10 or so others went to Cage). The present owner apparently wants significantly more than $20,000 (my understanding is 38K). If it were in the 30K range I would buy it in an instant. (Hope he is reading this)
Richard

I gotta add this to my want list!
-
That's a really pretty 6.0. And what a tough issue. Congrats!
-
BZ,
There are some rarely seen Timely issues that get my vote......
All Winners 6 and 8
Daring Mystery 2
Marvel Mystery 3, 4 and 5
Mystic 4
Red Raven 1
and I would love to see a Silver Streak 6 (especially if someone out there wants to put a high grade copy in my collection!)

After seeing this posted in another thread (by Paratrooper, I believe), I knew I had to get a copy. So, after missing out on some Kirby OA last night, I picked this up today:
Angelo
Let me know how you like it when you receive it.

I agree. That Mandrake cover is beautiful. The primary colors are really striking and are really what comics are all about. The Phantoms ain't too shabby either.

I won a mini grail of mine tonight on Ebay. One of my very favorite covers. Sweet copy to boot.
Congrats Paul,
That's a heck of a copy. And a great cover!
Show me your Timely's and I'll show you mine. Have a Cigar...

Four billable hours? Did you figure it out during your 30 minute lunch break?
