Just spent the day with a good friend of mine who just happens to own one of the best comic book stores in the southeast (IMO). We spent several hours "talking comics" and going through his convention stuff. I picked out several books to buy and put some on "layaway". He showed me some of his Timely collection, which consisted of several Captain America, Subby, Human Torch and Marvel Mystery. All of these were at least Fine and some looked VF. All have beautiful white pages. The nicest of the bunch was, believe it or not, a Capt. America's Weird Tales #74 in beautiful Fine or better condition. It was stunning!!! All in all, it was a great day to spend a rainy Memorial Day. Here are a couple of books that I bought... This is my favorite Detective cover...

Lastly, I don't usually pick up Marvel bronze horror books, but I do like this cover, and got it for a good price so...

I picked up this nice copy of Tomahawk #122. No Neal Adams, but still a great cover. I've been looking for nice HG Tomahawk books (#'s 115-125) for about a year now, and this is only my fourth book!!! These are really tough for me to find in high grade. This is a beauty!

Haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd show off a couple of books I picked up last week. No real keys or anything, but some nice "raw" books IMO. Strange Adventures #143. This is the first high grade copy of this book that I've ever seen. A great sci-fi book from 1962, featuring a gorgeous grey-tone cover by Murphy Anderson. This is a stunning copy of a book that you just don't run across everyday!

Here's a nice Detective I just picked up today. Actually, I picked up a few other issues of Tec, but this is the only 10- center. This book is from the Cleveland collection, and is beautiful, with white pages and great cover gloss.

Great books!!! I know very little about Ducks books, except that everytime I see one, I'm just blown away!!! Which books are considered "key" Duck books? Here is the only book I have, except some of the Gladstone issues. Again, don't know much about it, except it has a beautiful cover, and the story is terrific too!

I think those Detectives are absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous colors. Those silly books are fun to see. I love those Tec "shock poses". Keep 'em coming!!!!

Wow, Silver!! That's a great looking book! Looks like Superman's marrying "Super Barbie"!!! Hey, BB, I'm drooling over those MIS books!!! Have you sent any to CGC?

The Ultimate Dennis the Menace Thread
RickHigh replied to ComicBookGuy's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Great thread, and we'll look forward to seeing your other posts, particularly the art inside and later issues. I think the lack of contribution from other members of the boards shows how hard these books are to find, not our lack of enthusiasm for the title. Keep Dennis going. These are great books and I, too, look forward to reading more about Dennis. -

Thanks for the advice CBG. I've decided to pick up those Clevelands!! I don't know much about their background, except I think they were stored in a "controlled" environment, and that they are not recognized as a pedigree. Is that correct? Does anyone know any more about them? How many books? Just DC's? What date ranges? Anyway, here are a couple more "Ohio" Superman... First Supergirl tryout!!!

Hey, CBG, that's an awesome Superboy!! There sure are alot of nice books in this thread. Tons of stuff I've never seen before. Love those old Batman's and Mystery In Space also. I'm personally working on the complete Adam Strange run in MIS in HG (a daunting task, let me tell you). Somewhere along the way, I started picking up high grade copies of Superboy, but don't have any 10 cent-ers I don't think. Saw some REALLY nice high grade Detectives (early 300's from the "Cleveland" collection — I'm not too familiar with this "pedigree", but the covers were super glossy and the pages were snow white) this weekend, but had to past on them to pick up some more great Superman titles. These are "Ohio" copies. I posted them in the General section (2005 pickups), but I'm posting a few here also, just to be apart of this great thread. I love these old 10 cent DC's. Finding them in HG is tough, but very rewarding when you come across a few. By the way, I also saw a Sgt. Bilko #1 in nice grade (probably a 9.0!!) this weekend. Never seen that book before. Does anyone have one? I'm still debating that one also. Anyway, here you go...

I may have to start charging an appearance fee! That's an awesome book!!! I just love those 10 cent DC's and that Showcase #4 is one of the best!!! Here is one of my favorites. Not a Showcase #4, but still tough to find in high grade. This one is a 9.0 and the highest graded B&B #31 in the census!!!
